Hello all!
Some of you might have seen me around the last few months as a new manager and stable. I recognize a ton of extremely talented writers and managers from FCF, CWF, CMMA, and other ventures and I'm so excited to be a part of this league! Over the last week I have been having conversations with Lookout expressing interest in hosting a Cougar (technically Jaguar) tournament for fighters over 40 years of age. Given that my favorite fighter in my stable is a Jaguar, I was hoping to organize and host a tournament for these underappreciated ladies. I'll let him confirm for himself, but I believe Lookout is completely behind me should there be any interest in doing so.
Lookout pointed me toward a few threads that took place about three years ago, so I wanted to piggyback off the ideas bounced around in those threads. Now in 2019, the idea was to form a full Cougar Division. There were discussions of having special rules (fewer number of rounds), completely new classifications and divisions (Cougar and Jaguar), new weight/height classifications, etc. Back then, there was discussion over whether the pool of women over 40 should be split by height, weight, 125lbs, 5'5 height, etc. Now to me with a new pair of eyes, it seems like these new rules and classifications are not entirely necessary. The idea it seemed was ALWAYS just to highlight some of the amazing fighters over the age of 40, not create a completely new place to lock these fighters down and restrict them. Of course, we all want to keep it so that any fighter over the age of 40 should be able to fight anyone else, not exclusively Cougars and Jaguars. I really don't see the need to go through all the work of splitting everyone up, re-doing the Wiki, etc. For example, the decided Division classification was 125lbs in the poll below. Maybe I'm just an idiot and missing something, but to me the Princess of the Beach and Queen of the Beach tournaments that are running right now are divided simply and totally fine. The Princess tournament holds all Bantamweight and Flyweight fighters. The Queen tournament holds all Lightweight and Welterweight fighters. Let's keep it the exact same! No need for editing 1,000 Wiki pages, no need for trying to find a reliable weight for 1,000 fighters. The Wiki page doesn't even show the weight of anyone. If we decided to split the Divisions by weight, Lookout would have to answer 50 emails discerning the weight of all these girls. No need in my opinion. The Cougar tournament/Division can hold all Bantamweight and Flyweight fighters. The Jaguar tournament/Division can hold all Lightweight and Welterweight fighters. There's no need to edit a single Wiki page except for the winner of the tournament.

Now I obviously am not under the impression that my word or opinion holds any weight, I've only just arrived here lol. Just my thoughts! I'd love to hear other opinions if there are any, or perhaps I missed a thread of discussion. But ultimately to me, it seems this idea was abandoned 3 years ago because of the daunting task of splitting everyone up, new Divisions, new classifications, more work, etc. For me, I just want to keep it SIMPLE. If people are cool with these splits, the Celebrity Wrestling Federation is prepared to host a Jaguar Division Tournament. This tournament would of course be for fighters over the age of 40 only. Though I'm sure a special exception pass could be given to certain fighters on the very cusp of turning 40. The Jaguar Tournament would apply for Lightweight and Welterweight fighters. If this is a success, I'd love to see someone host a Cougar Tournament down the line, but for now I don't want to bite off more than I can chew so I'll only be doing the Jaguars.
I'm not sure exactly when Lookout would want the actual tournament to take place, but right now I want to see if there's any interest and open sign-ups. Hopefully I can get 8-16 fighters to sign up, ideally one per stable to start (?). Then we can open it up to multiple per stable I guess if there's space. Up to you guys, I don't care at all. I only have one fighter eligible anyways. Since this would be a somewhat official kickstart for the Jaguar and Cougar Divisions, I believe there was a lot of interest and support for a special Cougar belt and Jaguar belt. If you guys are still supportive of that, Lookout agreed that it should be up to popular opinion. I would be honored for this tournament to crown the inaugural Jaguar Division Champion. Depending on the number of fighters who enter, I will organize either a double-elimination or pool play type tournament field. I'm more than happy and plan to write every single fight recap, so no one will need to sign up for any additional work at all. Just enter your favorite Jaguar! I will then organize the bracket and get the results from Lookout to make it official. Of course, if you'd like to help then I'm all for it, just message me. Like the Princess and Queen tournaments, I will likely utilize a shorter recap for the pool play or first few rounds, but we'll see how it all shakes out. I hope everyone is as excited as I am and we can get some solid Jaguars to sign up!! Of course, let me know of any suggestions, issues, etc.
