Before: Over the years Jennifer Connelly and Rachel McAdams have had 3 fights with Jennifer winning 2 and Rachel 1. For some time Jennifer had been retired from FCBA ring action but recently has been seen in cougar bouts. Rachel has been moving into cougar bouts herself and so this 4th meeting.
“I honestly had intended to remain retired and just train younger fighters, but I started wishing I could try it again, so here I am,” Jennifer Connelly said in the pre-fight.
“I hated to leave regular boxing, but it became more and more evident that I needed to face reality. Cougar boxing is where I should be from now on. Jen seemed like a natural. I don’t like being 1-2 against anyone and now I have the chance to even things up. I am eager to try!”
Ton Fight Night, Rachel appears in her red –black-pink-white one piece swimsuit with black gloves and boots (red lacings) her bobbed blonde hair loose, but wetted down. Jennifer is in a black bikini with yellow gloves and boots (black laces). Jen’s dark hair is pulled by in a battle braid. The two veterans wait patiently through the ring instructions, then tap gloves and go to their corners. The bell rings…
R1: Jennifer moving fast at the bell and getting her leather hard against Rachel’s jaw with strong rights and lefts. Rachel covering up, trying to use her jab to break up Jen’s attack, but Jen is moving around her with impressive early speed. Jen now whacking Rachel to the sides of the head and as Rachel’s guard comes up higher, Jen now clouts Rachel to the abs. Jen builds on the body attack until she’s got Rachel bent forward at the waist. Rachel’s counters not slowing down the attack which is shots bouncing off her head as the round closes. Jennifer Connelly scores a wide win in the opening stanza.
R2: Rachel responds by driving in close and really working Jennifer cover in the body Lightning strike hooks are ravaging that lean, taut torso as Rachel pours in punishment to rib cage and abs. Jennifer strikes back with head swiveling right off Rachel’s jaw and then rips her a good left uppercut off her chin. Rachel back on her heels. Jen advances, but now Rachel going after Jen to the head. Jen smacked hard in the jaw, chin and side of the head. Jen replying in kind, but fades back as the round goes on. Bell sounds. It was a close round, but the judges’ give to Rachel McAdams
R3: Jennifer goes head hunting once again this round. She’s out fast and getting those banging right and left head shots. Rachel getting her head whipped around, pulls back and sets up with the defensive jaw as Jen gives chase. Jen bobbing up down, trying to slip her uppies in behind Rachel’s high guard, but then shifts to sustained burst of body punching. Now Rachel’s getting her ribs and belly pounded. Rachel trying to drive Jen back but Jen hanging in there and finally gets in one of those uppercuts behind Rachel’s mitts. Rachel staggered, lurching back in distress as Jen jumps forward, but she runs out of time and has to settle for winning the round wide.
R4: Jennifer right back at it as the new round begins, but now Rachel is showing much more upper body movement. She’s not the target she was before. Jen having to work to get her punches in to Rachel’s head and body, action now very even, but then Rachel sees a chance and drives a straight right between Jen’s mitts and into the point of her chin. Jen suddenly frozen in shock as the impact crashes into her brain. Rachel now firing in the right/left combos as Jen crumbles and TOPPLES ONTO HER SIDE! JEN CONNELLY IS DOWN. Rachel crisply departs for the neutral corner. Referee starts to count. Jen struggling to rise, kneels on all fours, trying to gather her strength, but can’t seem to get her body to obey.
“EIGHT!....NINE!....TEN!...YER OUT!” cries the referee.
THE WINNER RACHEL MCADAMSDEFEATS JENNIFER CONNELLY KO4!
After: Jennifer now in a sitting position, knees up and resting her forehead against them. Rachel comes over to check on her and help her to her feet. Two veteran exchange hugs and crowd applauds them both.
“Jen gave me a good work out. She still packs a punch,” comments Rachel after the fight, Fortunately, so do I and I was lucky to nail her. I am feeling better and better about these cougar fights. I wonder what old foe I can take on next. Anyone know whatever became of Jessica Alba around here?”
“Of course, I am disappointed, but I feel like I just got a little careless. I was doing damage against Rachel and if I had been a bit more defensive minded I might have won. Well, its behind me now and I am ready for my next fight. I hope it will be soon.”
Very enjoyable outing for long-time fans of Rachel and Jennifer. They both had their moments, but Rachel had the ones that got her the win. Hopefully younger fans will check out the FCBA Archives for reports on these two in their primes. We can also hope that both will continue explore cougar fighting in the FCBA.
