Intro/Fight:
Despite not having fought since 2020, Missy Peregrym's name carried some hefty weight when thrown around as a potential Jaguar Tournament entrant. A Hall-of-Famer, two-time Bantamweight Title winner with four successful defenses, and two-time Lightweight Title winner, Peregrym boasted one of the strongest resumes in the field. Shockingly, she wasn't even the odds-on favorite in her Pool. Headlining the 'Pool of Death' was the even more lethal Jennifer Garner. While most would have liked to fast-forward straight to Garner-Peregrym, Missy refused to look past anyone, at least openly; especially the relatively green, rangy Falchi. However, Peregrym might have been the only person in the arena not overlooking Falchi. At a ten year age disadvantage and without a fight since 2002, Falchi was considered fodder for the likes of Peregrym and Garner; but someone had to warm these ladies up for the main event.
Picking up as if she hadn't missed a beat in her hiatus, Missy struck first with some world-class edge work; wading in past Falchi's superior reach to strike, retreat, and repeat before the sluggish blonde could nab her. Falchi was often caught grasping at straws, widely out-classed by Missy's movement and punching power. Nearly put down in the first two minutes, Anna steadied the bleeding and held on to reach the bell, but she'd need much more to phase Peregrym. In a confusing twist, Round 2 and 3 flipped with a surprising edge to Falchi; with the gangly blonde using her reach and unorthodox technique to puzzle Peregrym after a slow start in the first. Sloppy, off-handed crosses found meat and bone, wrong-footed jabs split Missy's guard, and Falchi actually managed to hold her own. Seemingly thrown off by the quirkiness of Anna's offense, Missy found herself looking bewildered and frustrated, even being staggered by a lumpy straight right hand in the last few seconds of the 3rd.
Righting the ship somewhat in the 4th, Missy put any worried bet slip holders at ease with a dominant showing; once again asserting herself and snuffing out what little control Falchi had wrestled away in the middle frames. Commanding and leading footwork saw Peregrym boss Falchi around the ring, boring gaping holes in Falchi's tender belly until the blonde's features twisted near the point of tears. An authoritative left-right against the ropes finally rattled Falchi's braincase, flickering her power and felling the towering blonde in domineering fashion. A decent showing for Falchi considering the layoff and opponent, and a much needed efficient win for Peregrym.
