Intro/Fight:
One of the most decorated Lightweight fighters in FCBA history, Jennifer Garner was the betting favorite to not only win Pool B, but the entire Jaguar Tournament. A 10-time Lightweight Title holder with 13 successful defenses and Hall-of-Famer, it was virtually a formality for Garner to meet Missy Peregrym to decide the Pool. Anna Falchi's only shred of optimism or promise was the fact that Garner had only fought once in the last two years. If she was going to be caught napping, this would be the fight.
As expected, there was noticeable rust to be shaken off by the veteran. With Falchi already having fought twice, and against some very adept competition, she was well prepared to capitalize on Garner's inaction. Possibly taking some extra hits to help dust the cobwebs, Garner was eager to trade leather with Falchi throughout the first. While most of Jennifer's strikes were a beat slow, Falchi was in perfect rhythm, pouring lefts into the brunette's midsection any time she got close. Garner simply winced, took a half step backwards, then re-engaged, seemingly a glutton for punishment as she insisted on forcing Anna to back her off. Trailing mightily in the punches-landed category, Garner spent the better part of the first getting her feet wet before diving head-first into the fight in the second. Finally taking the governor off her engine, Jennifer flipped a switch and started to overwhelm the ragged blonde in the middle rounds. Garner showcased a speed that had yet to be seen through the first 9 Pool-play bouts, erupting on Falchi. The blonde was stunned stiff as Garner parried through a sweeping left hand and bore a hole through her gut, following with two lightning-quick sternum punches and polishing the exchange with a blinding right on the button. Falchi pinwheeled as Jen punched the gas, closing and ripping another buckling left-right combination into opposing ribs. Falchi could do little more than turn-tail and run halfway across the ring as Jen continued to stalk, patiently approaching with an earned arrogance. Not even bothering to raise her hands defensively, Garner swatted away a desperate succession of swings from Falchi, opting to flaunt her dexterity rather than finish off the awed blonde.
Anna found a semblance of success again in the fourth, but it seemed to only be with Jen's permission. Garner continued to toy and spar with the blonde to hone her fitness and movement, keeping her prey kicking until the fifth began. Falchi's awe had given way to frustration at Garner's passiveness, growing increasingly insulted that the brunette was not taking her seriously. As Falchi began to hiss and spout obscenities in her native Finnish tongue, Garner decided to close the book. Circling left, Garner carefully tossed a pair of baiting left hands, waiting for Falchi to extend and swat them away before lunging through an unwieldy right hand. The blonde's statuesque frame curled inward as she was instantly buckled, throatily blubbering as her arms went limp, spilling clumsily to her ass. Falchi valiantly rose at 7, but no more than ten seconds after the two re-engaged did Garner deposit the blonde right back on the mat; this time for good. The Fin deserved better than 0-3-0 in her Pool, but Garner looked like a train that couldn't be stopped.
