TESS VALMORE
Just sitting here at my computer, glass of wine and a ham sandwich nearby and I started musing about all this Cougar/Jaguar mess. One member seemed to suggest that the cougar technically a jaguar. Everybody seemed to rush to that conclusion. That was not correct. Actually the cougar and Jaguar belong to two different families of cats and are not known to interbreed. They have different coats and different habitats. Generally speaking the Jaguar is the bigger of the two and so it makes sense to term the lights and welter Jaguars. But there is a problem here. The jaguar is generally found in South America and is the bigger of the two, but in Florida, one of the spots in the US where the jaguar is found, it is actually smaller than the cougar due to habitat. The last time I was at the PPV, any CBAD or small PPV, I am pretty sure I was in North America. I was taught that Florida is in North America, so here the jaguar is the smallest of the two, so the terms are being misused. It seems that the fly/bantams should be the jaguars and the lights/welters should be the cougars.
Now another problem appears. One that no one, including me, seems to have thought about ever since the invention of the term meaning a fighter over forty. Cougar also happens to be the popular definition of a middle aged woman who seeks casual and frequent sexual relations with a younger man. In other words, a sexual predator. Somewhat insulting don’t you think, if you are of the feminine gender as I am. I am nowhere near middle age, but when I get there and you call me cougar, you are gong to get my fist in your mouth. In this “Woke” atmosphere, the term cougar simply must not be used for a woman or we will have legions of frumpy old women demonstrating outside Lookout’s house.
Another problem that I have to admit. In a sense, women are jaguars. A cougar cannot roar. It can only hiss. You piss off a woman of any size and you are going to get more than a hiss
So to solve the above problems I have some up with a simple solution.
Light and welters-“Big older ladies”
Fly and bantams-“Little older ladies”
Problem solved
