(Press conference taking place in New York)
Hello ladies and gents of the media, hopefully you know me by now as the Girls Friday stables chief adviser, Melanie Sykes and I have major news for you as we start off this years New Blood tournaments early this year.
If you missed our tournaments last year, I'll do a quick run through of how they work, basically these are tournaments for girls 25 years old or under, fresh faces or girls who've not been picked up by stables as this is a free agent tournament as well.
The reason for these tournaments is to get girls spots in stables or in the FCBA who may never get noticed, now it won't be a total success we admit, but even if one of this years batch of fighters gets noticed, it means we have done our jobs as promoters and as a stable.
There are four different weight tournaments that run for the next four months, starting with the welterweights and going down in weight.
The tournaments themselves see two semi finals take place on a card on their own, then the final takes place on that months PPV to find out who this years New Blood champ is.
Now the first thing we are here to tell you guys may come as a surprise, maybe not, we have decided to make these tournaments every two years and not yearly.
The reason for this is because we want to let the talent pool grow first instead of just throwing girls unprepared for success into the fold.
Now things may change again in future, but we believe that this is the best way going forwards to give people a chance.
But we still have a set tournament for this year, starting of course with the welterweights, now first we have to name our special referee for this tournament.
While some people would probably want last years winner Karlie Kloss doing the job so she can get a front row seat of who is replacing her for the tiara, we decided to get another former tournament winner should get the job, so please welcome Sarah Lancaster on stage!
We shall do the draw, please Sarah pick a ball, the first ball is ball 4 and that is Devon Windsor!
This Victoria Secret model is 23 years old, 5'11 and as you can see a real blonde stunned from St.Louis Missouri, please give her a warm welcome on stage.
So who is she going to fight? Please pick the next ball out Sarah, it is number 1, please come on Ireland Baldwin!
Ireland is the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, so no pressure for the 21 year old, 6'2 model to live under.
(Devon goes up to Ireland on stage, Ireland leaning down so she can go nose to nose with her fellow stunning blonde, till both are separated by the organisers)
Ok onto semi final number two, Sarah please; the next ball out is number 3! Kate Bock!
This Canadian model is a sports illustrated star, winning Rookie of the year in the past, she is 24 years old, 5'11 and of course hopes to win this tournament.
Last but not least, Sarah pick out ball 2, as you can see it is there and that is Romee Strijd!
This 21 year old Victoria Secret model is 5'11, from Holland and shows how the welterweight division is growing in nationalities.
(Both girls look calm and collected as they go nose to nose, hands on hips as their eyes burn holes through each other till they are separated)
So this tournament begins with the semi finals on the 14th April, the final will be on the April PPV, these are the bouts to look forward too:
Devon Windsor
Vs
Ireland Baldwin
Kate Bock
Vs
Romee Strijd
Remember managers and pundits get in for fights, we hope you'll come see the tournament fights and maybe the next big thing is here.
