Intro:
Here we are main event time! Scarlett Johansson and Brie Larson meet in a Marvel superhero clash, at least that's how it is billed as the former multiple time champion "Black Widow" Scarlett tries to show her new stable that she is a great signing, while "Captain Marvel" Brie looks to continue her impressive run of results since she joined the Lookout! Boxing stable several months ago.
Before the bout in the Las Vegas Raiders Allegiant Stadium, there was a press event on the hollowed turf where both women changed their heels for white sneakers in Bries case, black boots for Scarlett, with Scarlett stepping on the right side in a black vest and jeans combo, Brie in a red sports bra and blue jeans combo, both coming together at the center to face off, hands on hips as both proud blondes intensely stare their future opponent down, then they shake hands with a smile to show there's at least respect here.
Handed a microphone each, Scarlett says "I didn't think we'd be actually fighting, those sparring matches we had when we did Endgame were fun, you certainly gave me a few runs for my money in them, though the kid gloves are coming off Brie, I hope you understand that" looking over at Brie as she speaks.
Brie holds up her hands with a big beaming smile, she then replies "you are right, it was an honour at the time to spar with you, I remember the other girls on set who had never seen you train before, I'll admit at the time I was a little star struck, here's this massive star, multiple time champion and all round badass, boxing gloves in hand marching into the gym on mornings we were filming, the way you had an aura around you, sparring you was amazing" nodding over at Scarlett, showing her plenty of respect.
"The thing is though Scarlett, I am not the same woman who was on that set, I am now craving my path through this division, I am the one that people are now talking about wanting to fight, I feel like we are now equal footing and when we meet in the ring, may the better woman win" Brie adds as she puts out her right hand again.
Scarlett smiles as she looks at the turf, she moves closer to shake the offered hand, she then tells Brie "while I agree on may the better fighter, you have to understand one thing Brie, till you beat me and go on to win a title, you are not at my level" that causes a little tension to show on Brie's face, they move closer exchanging a few whispered words for only them to hear, pushing apart when they are done, looking ready to settle the score in the ring.
Fight night, first through the curtain comes Scarlett to a load roar from her fans, she has her coach Christy Hemme behind her as they walk down the aisle, fireworks going off around the top of the stadium, Scarlett steps inside the ring wearing a black sports bra with silver trim, matching trunks and shoes, black gloves, her hair is braided as she gets into her corner, stretching her arms out as she looks her usual focused self.
Here comes Brie with Julie Benz to her right, Brie waves to the fans as she gets a mix of red, gold and blue sparks flying up each side of her, fans cheering her on as she jogs down the aisle, fist bumping a few a ringside in the front row, she gets into the ring wearing a blue sports bra with red trim, matching trunks, red shoes, red gloves with gold thumbs, her hair is in a ponytail, shadow boxing as she looks across the ring at Scarlett, she has a small smile on her face as she looks to be trying to hide her excitement about this bout.
The referee brings the fighters to the center of the ring, both fighters shake their arms to keep them loose, the crowd chanting their favourites name as both certainly have their fans, they bump their gloves firmly into their opponent's set, they then jog back to their corners, once everything is ready then the bell rings to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.
Round 1:
"Ding!" The crowd roars as both fighters step out their corners looking focused, trading stiff jabs as they dance on their toes, Brie landing the cleaner punches to start, her reach already looking a pain for Scarlett, who is keeping her guard high to protect her face, stabbing in a few shots to the abs and chest of Brie to test her reflexes out.
Scarlett makes her move after a slow opener; feinting with her jab, she slips a straight to get to the inside to land an overhand right to the cheek of Brie, then begins pounding the body of the taller fighter, getting shoved back by Brie, Scarlett telling Brie to bring it on as she is clearly hoping to draw her younger foe into a firefight.
Brie doesn't fall for the bait but she can seem to keep Scarlett too far back, both fighting at midrange as the punches are coming more in volume now, both women lashing in punches around each others cheeks, crowd fired up as they watch both women let their hands go up till the bell rings, an evenly fought round in the end, showing the task ahead for these two Hollywood stars.
Round 2:
Back out they come with both women starting to throw more combos, Scarlett stepping in more with punches aimed around the chest of Brie, making Larson grit her mouthpiece to try to not show her pain, with Brie landing cross punches around the top of the former champions head.
Again in the second minute Johansson is the one pushing the pace, landing an overhand left across the cheek of her opponent, landing a follow up uppercut as she knocks back Larson to her heels, driving back the "Captain Marvel" actress to the ropes, where she goes back to working the body with hooks as Brie covers up top, needing to grab onto Scarlett to force the referee to break them up.
Keeping at Brie, Scarlett is not letting Brie have this her way, making them have to slug it out with her, again Brie is sent to the ropes after another overhand right smacks across her cheek, more punches buried into the body of Brie as she is clearly wanting to take the legs out from the taller fighter, the round ends with Scarlett jogging back to her corner with still that ice cold look, Brie nodding as she is being told by Julie to be more forceful and not let Scarlett inside so easily.
Round 3:
Stepping back out her corner throwing more straight shots into the face of Scarlett, Brie is stepping into her own punches more, making the veteran have to retreat back as she takes control of the center, Scarlett needing to tighten up her own guard as she moves side to side near the ropes throwing single punches back.
A jab slams into the chest of Scarlett, opening her up for two right hooks to her cheek, Brie starting to now find her rhythm, bullying around the smaller woman around the ring, the best showing so far in the fight for Larson, being held by Johansson as the referee steps in to split them up.
When they resume fighting Scarlett is the quicker off the blocks, drilling in a one-two combo to the body of Brie, who lands clipping punches across the top of Scarlett's head, with Scarlett using her left forearm to push Brie into a neutral corner, both trading in the final moments of the round as Brie looks to get out the corner, both fighters cheeks are marked up, the round ends with both women walking to their stools looking fired up, both sets of coaches wiping down their fighters as the crowd is in full voice for their favourites.
Round 4:
Starting off planting their feet more to trade, with Scarlett getting hit across her face by cross punches, she dips under a left cross to hammer in two right hooks to the body, both end up clinched up as they nearly clash heads, trading to force each other back as the referee has to step in to break them up, sweat starting to form on their impressive bodies.
Back at it they go with Brie trying to force back Scarlett, she misses with a straight and takes a short right to her stomach, an overhand left lands on her chin as overhand shots are landing too freely, AN UPPERCUT THEN SMACKS DOWN BRIE ONTO HER BACKSIDE!
Scarlett doesn't celebrate, she simply walks over to the neutral corner, 1...2...3.. Brie shakes her head to clear the cobwebs, 4....5... Watching the referees count as she gets up to her right knee, left foot planted, 6...7...8.. Getting up to her feet, fists raised to show she is ready to continue.
They resume with Scarlett looking to keep the pressure on Brie, less then a minute to go with Scarlett landing some nice punches through the guard of Brie, getting hit on her forehead by straight punches as Brie boxes on the back foot, trying to keep the distance where she wants it, the round comes to an end with Scarlett nodding to Christy in her corner, Brie taking a breath as she returns to her stool.
Round 5:
Back out they come with eyes locked as they box, Scarlett is forcing the issue early as she peppers in some crisp straight punches around the lips of Brie, soon opening a cut on the bottom lip of the top ranked contender with a short left cross.
Brie just can't seem to stop Scarlett getting at her, covering up more as time ticks away in the round, Julie looks furious in her corner as she watches the bigger fighter be dominated by the smaller one, Scarlett doing her best "mighty mouse" impression as she is switch hitting beautifully.
Less then fifty seconds to go, finally Brie strikes out with a solid straight into the face of Scarlett, following up with a left/right cross combo, Scarlett forced to the outside now, Brie looking a little more assured as she bangs in more strikes around the head of Johansson, who still scores with a few clean hits around the chest of the Larson, at the bell Scarlett jogs back towards her stool with Christy telling her "that's it girl! You have this" Scarlett nods away at Christy but she looks more focused on her opponent.
Round 6:
Brie is trying to force the issue back the other way, Scarlett though is picking her attacks perfectly right now, slipping under a jab she hammers in a left/right hook to the ribs of Brie, driving her back towards the ropes, getting clinched up as Brie looks to slow her down.
Splitting them apart, with Brie stabbing more punches around the top of Scarlett's head, getting some rhythm going, till Scarlett deflects a straight to land one of her own on the bloody lips of Brie, who whines out as she is forced back again, Scarlett looks in great form tonight.
But as they enter the final thirty seconds of the round, Brie catches her coming in with a double jab on top of her head, then sidesteps to the left as an overhand right comes her way, landing a stiff right hook into the side of Johansson's head to make her stumble a step, Brie's eyes light up for a moment, she laces a one-two combo square into Scarlett's face as she forces her to the ropes, the bell rings before Brie can really unload on her, making Brie bang her gloves together in frustration, Scarlett heads back to her corner with Christy telling her "another great round, you are well ahead this fight, just focus on bringing this home" Scarlett nods as she looks at her gloves.
Round 7:
That flurry at the end of the round from Larson seems to have created a new spark in her, catching Scarlett with more punches as she looks less tense, grappling Scarlett when she gets to the inside, leading to a few tense moments between the fighters, referee breaking them apart several times.
An overhand left by Scarlett misses as Brie leans out the way, a counter right lands across the temple of Scarlett to make her back off, a left hook crashes on the side of her head, momentum has certainly switched as Brie is starting to really hammer home her advantage, bullying Scarlett into a neutral corner, burying her punches through the mitts of her opponent to her face to send sweat flying.
Grabbing onto Brie now in a tight clinch, neither fighter says a word as they grind bodies, Brie leaning on Scarlett in the corner to wear the older fighter down, after being pried apart, Scarlett tries to get back to the inside, a left cross turns her head before an uppercut rocks her head backwards, Brie pounding her through her gloves, causing blood to run from the nostrils of Johansson, the round comes to an end with both women taking a moment to look over their opponent, both have been bloodied, both need patching up as they sit on their stools, chests rising quicker as they lock eyes across the ring.
Round 8:
Brie has definitely now gotten the measure of her opponent, landing several punches square into their opponent's face, driving back Scarlett to the outside part of the ring with more claret running from her nostrils, Scarlett only able to really land single thudding shots around the abs of Larson in reply.
Trying to rush in only leads to an uppercut rocking Scarlett, she looks wobbly as a left cross turns her head with blood and sweat flying, ANOTHER UPPERCUT LANDS TO SEND SCARLETT CRUMBLING DOWN ONTO HER FRONT!
Crowd going nuts as Brie raises her arms in the air while staring at Scarlett, heading to the neutral corner at the second time ordered by the referee, 1...2...3... Scarlett groans as she turns her head to the right, 4...5...6... Scarlett has her arms out at her sides, 7...8.. Not moving as her eyes are shut, 9...10 it's all over for Johansson!
Winner Brie Larson KO Round 8

What a comeback from Larson, she was pressured through the fight by the former champion, in the end she found the answer after that spark of momentum at the end of the sixth round, the winner mounts the bottom ropes of the neutral corner, arms in the air as she is beaming, her supporters chanting "we love you Brie!" Repeatedly, making her laugh and shed a tear of joy.
Stepping down out the corner, Brie jogs over to her corner to embrace Julie, who tells her "you'll get that bantamweight title soon if you keep showing heart like tonight" Brie wiping her tears away, thanking her coach as this might be the biggest night of her career with this massive crowd and fighting someone she clearly has respect for.
While Scarlett is slowly helped up after she comes around, taken over to her stool, the beaten fighter admits "maybe I am getting too old" head looking down at her gloves like she did when things started to go wrong, Christy yells at her to stop feeling sorry for herself, saying "you are f**king Scarlett Johansson! You had her beat and she knows it" pointing at Brie, Scarlett has a rye smile as she looks at her opponent, nodding at her coach as she certainly gave an elite contender like Brie a hard time.
Over comes Brie once her gloves are off, the former sparring partners share a few moments as they smile and chat, Scarlett pointing out she had Brie, with the winner reply "yet last I checked you were flat out at my feet" both chuckling as they shake hands, talking about a rematch with both looking keen to have a go at each other someday.
Helped by her coaches Scarlett leaves the ring after raising Bries hand for the crowd to see, the "Black Widow" star isn't the force she once was, tonight proved though that she is still a dangerous prospect for any fighter who looks her way, with her new stable backing her, expect more big performances from the former champion.
Brie soon gets her right hand raised by the referee, she blows a kiss to the cameras, then raises her right fist as she says "I hope you were watching (Elizabeth) Olsen, you are going to have this beating you soon" throwing a straight at the camera, putting the challenge out to her old stablemate and bitter rival.
Julie just smiles at that, before helping Brie out of the ring, it feels like Brie is right on the edge of being that championship level, good technical skills, power, speed and tonight showed her heart, is the time coming when we'll see Brie Larson with gold wrapped around her waist?

Stepping down out the corner, Brie jogs over to her corner to embrace Julie, who tells her "you'll get that bantamweight title soon if you keep showing heart like tonight" Brie wiping her tears away, thanking her coach as this might be the biggest night of her career with this massive crowd and fighting someone she clearly has respect for.
While Scarlett is slowly helped up after she comes around, taken over to her stool, the beaten fighter admits "maybe I am getting too old" head looking down at her gloves like she did when things started to go wrong, Christy yells at her to stop feeling sorry for herself, saying "you are f**king Scarlett Johansson! You had her beat and she knows it" pointing at Brie, Scarlett has a rye smile as she looks at her opponent, nodding at her coach as she certainly gave an elite contender like Brie a hard time.
Over comes Brie once her gloves are off, the former sparring partners share a few moments as they smile and chat, Scarlett pointing out she had Brie, with the winner reply "yet last I checked you were flat out at my feet" both chuckling as they shake hands, talking about a rematch with both looking keen to have a go at each other someday.
Helped by her coaches Scarlett leaves the ring after raising Bries hand for the crowd to see, the "Black Widow" star isn't the force she once was, tonight proved though that she is still a dangerous prospect for any fighter who looks her way, with her new stable backing her, expect more big performances from the former champion.
Brie soon gets her right hand raised by the referee, she blows a kiss to the cameras, then raises her right fist as she says "I hope you were watching (Elizabeth) Olsen, you are going to have this beating you soon" throwing a straight at the camera, putting the challenge out to her old stablemate and bitter rival.
Julie just smiles at that, before helping Brie out of the ring, it feels like Brie is right on the edge of being that championship level, good technical skills, power, speed and tonight showed her heart, is the time coming when we'll see Brie Larson with gold wrapped around her waist?
