TESS VALMORE
The April PPV featured all four official titles being in play. None changed hands as Amanda Righetti defeated Tahnee Atkinson to retain the welter title, Mary Elizabeth Winstead turned back Alexis Ren in the lightweights, Elizabeth Olsen won over Brie Larson to stay the bantam champ and Vanessa Hudgens defeated Brec Bassinger to stay the flyweight champ.
The big developments came in the welters which are going to go through a shakeup as Tractorpull may finally have a top ten in the welters. It doesn’t mean that the welters are any deeper, just that the cannon fodder group is less two or three. Leotta got attention with her win over Ferguson and Lawley knocked out Kostek, Gillan already in the top eight beat Rhoda. Unfortunately she already has lost a title fight to Amanda. Iskra Lawrence didn’t fight. It looks like Lawley will break into the top ten and will most likely get the next title shot as she is one that Amanda has never fought. I am not sold on Lawrence or Sabatini but either of those two or Leotta might get the remaining spot in Tractorpull’s top ten. Sabatini is fighting Decker for the number one contender spot. The question is whose top contender spot. Did Righetti agree to that or is this simply FNL’s top contender spot?
In the lightweights, the big news was Hill’s win over DiDonato. That could well get Hill a title fight ,but there is Taylor Swift also in the running. Winstead has a history with Swift and her last two losses were at the hands of Swift. My guess is that Hill or Swift will get the title fight, but I can’t count out Kylie Jenner who beat Lima and has won five straight including a win over her sister.
The bantams are very deep and Olsen has no problem in finding a deserving contender, Two that caught my attention were Lamborghini who has now won nine in a row with two wins over Lovato and one over Rose, and Lil Reinhart who took care of Shay Mitchell. I definitely can’t count Bell Thorne out of the title chase. She has beaten Naomi Scott and Ana Taylor Joy back to back. How about putting Jenny McCarthy in the ring with Olsen. Not to fight, but to be a ring girl carrying the next round number between rounds. That is as close as the ancient one will get to a title fight. (Sorry I couldn’t help that)
The flyweights are just like the bantams, They are very deep. Hudgens has already eliminated Lowndes, Collins, and Cicchino. One she hasn’t eliminated during this championship run its the 42 year old Michelle Williams who has recently beaten Cicchino, Cameron and de Armas. These two have one of the longest running bitter rivalries going . They have fought thirteen times. Williams holds down the six spot in Boxing Worlds rankings. Don’t bet against it, but Hudgens has a slew of possibilities. Righetti should be so lucky
