Joy Corrigan vs Miranda Kerr
(Lioness Club vs Downunder Boxing)
(14-5, 14 KO vs 23-19, 23 KO)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: Some pundits question Joy Corrigan's strenght of schedule but the blonde model still believes it's good enough to attract the Ice Hotel championship ambitions "if someone like Alexis Ren ruled the damn thing for so long!" Well, losing to Ren's stablemate Eden Cohen on the LCA vs VIX stable war probably postponed those plans but Joy vows revenge at the expense of the modelling legend Miranda Kerr tonight.
One might argue Miranda has entered the back nine of her boxing career but she remains an extremely tough challenge in her own right: "I'm well aware that Joy considers herself to be a serious player. Well, even that blonde mane didn't help her marketing exposure too much lately? She's like a Lioness third-stringer... and I knock those third-stringers OUT!"
Joy Corrigan wears a black bandeau bikini set & golden gloves. Long blonde hair in loose waves. Miranda Kerr wears a pink bikini set & silver gloves. Long light brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Miranda flies in with a classic head-hunting effort and knocks the blonde's head back upon impact before blasting additional series on each temple. Joy gets wobbled to her heels all too easily here and has to fend off a furious charge from the former Ice Hotel champion that quickly proves too hot to handle for the Lioness prospect. Joy has to bail out into mid-range while Miranda keeps stalking her with more head shots up the middle and she clips the blonde's chin several times before both models end up on the ropes where Corrigan manages to apply the clinching stalemate. Huh! LCA coach Claudia Schiffer can only scratch that opener off since there was nothing to scribble on for the anniversary team.
Round 2:
Joy gets more aggressive and lands several clean shots into the brunette's face as both models trigger another high-octane dispute in the center of the ring. Miranda sticks it to the younger foe but eats a nasty cross on the nose and struggles to break through with superior power which only allows Corrigan to stay in the slugging lane until she bends the Aussie to the side following a quick double on the left eye. Miranda stumbles away and gets bulldozed onto the ropes in no time as the blonde barks in her efforts and works a drilling body assault come the last minute. She bends Kerr into quiet spasms and flicks a low shot just above the waist line to stuff the older model into genuine pain moments before the bell.
Round 3:
An early clash of heads slows the action down and prevents another slugging dispute with Joy trying to work more of the body charge but Miranda clinches her away and shoves back onto the ropes when the American tries to double down on her plans. Both women settle down in mid-range thereafter and only spring back to life in the final minute when Miranda rips a left cross on the eye and whacks the blonde in the cleavage causing a brief panic attack from coach Schiffer. However Corrigan fires back over the top and tags the brunette's chin before blasting her on the right brow ridge with a seemingly wayward follow up. Miranda stumbles to the side with a whimper but the clock expires shortly afterwards to prevent further action.
Round 4:
Miranda catches the blonde with a gut-checking rally and starts to pile more leather into her chest before another clash of heads throws Corrigan off her zone. However Kerr leaps after the fellow model this time and smacks her on the chin several times riding a hot uppercut hand into the second minute. Joy has to clinch the older woman but still gets bumped onto the turnbuckle where Miranda drills her into the exposed midsection and scores easy points while the American model scowls in visible discomfort. She can't lock another clinching stalemate and gets her tummy bashed into visible reddish marks come the bell as the Aussie model cleans out shop to take the round wide!
Round 5:
Joy blows her gasket after that poor round and hopes to catch Miranda with a genuine haymaker right now... the former Ice Hotel champion easily ducks away from the predictable attack but then gets busted with a rare double on the chest and wobbles to her heels while Corrigan cracks a left hook on the eye that tears a small gash underneath it... Miranda pushes off her heels but bounces off the top of Joy's forehead and eats a brutal hook from the inside moments before the blonde NAILS her with a booming uppercut on the jaw... AND DOWN GOES KERR!!! Uh-oh!! Even some of the most devoted Lioness fans didn't see that punch coming and poor Miranda banged her head on the canvas as she went down like a sack of potatoes here! The count is relatively slow but it still passes the Aussie supermodel by... EIGHT... NINE... TEN... she is OUT!!! KO5 Joy Corrigan!!!
AFTER: How about that finish! Joy pulled this victory seemingly out of nowhere but she doesn't care about the style points and claims she's as good as anyone in the division with that power supply! Maybe Tess Valmore bet on the wrong Lioness blonde the other day? The idea that Joy is good enough for random beach boxing cards is one thing but don't count her out from making a genuine push at the lineal straps as well since she's won 15 out of 20 in her FCBA career to date! That's not a bad number at all!
Official Result: Joy Corrigan def. Miranda Kerr KO5.
