TESS VALMORE
As usual, the first Asylum card of th year features new fighters as the opposition for Front Street. As an aside, everyone knows. I have been a critic of the constant adding of new fighters. I constantly hear we need new blood, while that may be true, the new blood rarely shows up. Last year we added approximately eighty six new fighters. We are just adding names to the fighter list. How many retired. Zero. As the Wiz once wisely said “fighters don’t retire, they just stop getting calls.” As an example of that, this month we will see Tia Leoni in action in the PPV. Her last fight was in 2003
As a test, I checked on the six newbies who fought in the 2021 Asylum card. Of the six only one has seen some success, Kelsey Merritt who got signed by OddMann. One had two fights, both at the Asylum. Another had two fights in the year. The other three had only that Asylum fight on their records. That’s a success rate of 16% and probably higher then the overall average for the eighty seven
As note all six of the Asylum opponents are newbies. Fighters rarely win their first fight and those that do are usually already managed. Also visitors rarely win at the Asylum. So since the foregoing is true, why waste time predicting the fights individually. Front Street will sweep the card
