BEFORE:
Up next is a rubber match between Hollywood darlings, with Emma Stone going up against Emma Watson in a third showdown to determine Emma-supremacy. It was back in 2013 when Stone first put Watson away in a grueling ten rounds to edge out the British starlet via Unanimous Decision. Then, five years later, Miss Watson took her revenge and KO’ed her American namesake in just four rounds.
Tonight, both Emmas look to settle the score, with Stone and Watson both looking confident from their perch at the press table.
“She’s not in my league. Not anymore,” Watson starts off the fireworks with a bold proclamation. “Stone hasn’t won a fight since 2016. She’s not going to win a match tonight. I guarantee it. I’m not losing on my home turf.”
Stone is equally defiant, brushing her auburn hair to one side before responding with a smirk: “Emma’s improved a lot since we first fought almost ten years ago. I’m honestly happy to see her go from baby steps to sprinting. But she’s bound to fall down at some point. In fact, she already has at the tail end of 2021 when she fell to Avril and Nell. All good things come to an end, and I’m determined to stake my comeback tonight.”
Both Emmas square off moments later on stage, fists raised and poised to the other girl’s chin. Stone sporting a one-inch height advantage but it ain’t much, really, with both fighters coming in with the same build and fight strategy. Later on, Watson is wearing a red sports bra and white boxing trunks, waving a pair of navy blue gloves in the air as the home crowd gives her a warm welcome. Stone, however, has an equally loud shout of support when her name is announced - the American is sporting a black sports bra and hot denim short shorts, and red boxing gloves on either hand.
Referee waves for the bell and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!
ROUND 1:
Stone stealing ground enforce, rushing in at the sound of the bell and determined to KO Watson back to kingdom come, and end this rivalry for good. She initiates with a one-two combo to the arms, then continues to hound Watson to her arms and pester her about the ring. Emma’s playing it safe, but how safe can it really be if you’re getting your head snapped back and nose shoved in by leather? The Stone supporters in the audience let out a cheer on the American actress’ behalf each time Stone lands a stiff one directly to Watson’s face or hammers a hard hook into the side of the head to send her stumbling. So far, so good, though Watson begins to keep her distance towards the end of the round, fighting back with equal spirit as the two gals exchange fast jab combos to the face. Round ends and it’s still Stone’s round, though not by much.
ROUND 2:
Watson’s moving in with purpose this time, not letting Stone get in close enough to land her hooks. She’s swerving that head of hers with purpose, before stunning Stone back on the chin or arms with a combo here, another combo there, at one point stunning her to the spot with a low left hook to the body, which almost bowls her over. Stone, however, quickly retreats while jabbing at Watson’s face, hoping to stem the tide of abuse. Both Emmas go back to a mutual holding pattern, trading punches to the arms and almost always aiming high to stun leather to the lips or nose. This time, however, Watson comes out on top, waiting for Stone to pound away on her arms before responding with a quick one-two-three to the nostrils for swift payback. Round ends and the Vixen is THE Emma who takes it wide, showing the other girl how it’s done.
ROUND 3:
Stone’s running into the same stone wall like last time, with both ladies going back and forth with equal speed but Watson outfoxing her counterpart with her better agility and poise. Stone keeps getting rocked back to the mouth even though her straight hands are landing with slightly more power. Emma Watson gets shoved back a few paces each time one of Stone’s crosses lands, but it’s not enough to drive her into a full retreat, and Emma Stone makes the error of rushing in immediately to drive another hook to her head, and hopefully smack her off her feet. But Watson deftly ducks under or swerves her head to the side, before responding with some chopping hooks to the stomach and ribs, then blowing Stone back instead with a high hook to the earmuffs. Close round overall, but we’re gonna give it to Watson yet again.
ROUND 4:
Both fighters reset in a holding pattern, and spend the first minute circling from afar, not too keen on leaping in for the kill just yet. This plays into Watson’s sure and steadfast strategy as she scores first with those crunching right hands straight into Stone’s nostrils. But this is also ALL part of Emma Stone’s plan, as a third jab lands stiffly and she immediately SHOCKS Watson back with a right overhand to the top of her temple, savagely sending her spinning off to the side in pain!! This might be Stone’s lucky break if she can rush in and finish her Brit rival off. Try she does, with Stone leaping forward with another superwoman punch, but Watson manages to block and absorb it with both her arms thrown in front at the last second. Stone continues to hound her foe throughout the rest of this round, beating Emma back towards the ropes multiple times but failing to pin her down totally. Watson’s breathing hard at the sound of the bell, knows she almost went down back there. And at the bell, it dawns on both women that this fight is already about to go the distance.
ROUND 5:
This brings back memories of their first encounter, with Stone and Watson going back and forth in an all-out war, till the referee raised Emma Stone’s hand with an ultimate decision victory. Damned if Watson is going to let that happen though. Bell rings and she SURPRISES Stone with an all-out rush, leaping into the fray with an overhand hook of her own that BASHES into the middle of her guard, then another straight hand gutting her to the body to drive her back. Stone in panic mode, mouth hanging open and not knowing which way to run. For a moment, she chooses to hold her ground and LEAP BACK IN to brawl herself, but a hook is absorbed by Emma’s raised arm, and another MISSES completely when Watson ducks under and torques her shoulders inwards… BLAM!! Stone has her chin lifted into the air as the uppercut CONNECTS, then another and another slammed into her jawline as Emma POWERS her way through!! DOWN STONE GOES, absolutely swept off her feet by her Brit counterpart, and she collapses to her side with a loud grunt! Could this be it??
Watson’s huffing and panting hard, but has a confident look on her face as she circles back to the neutral corner. Stone is pushing her way back up to all fours, but she’s still trying to shake the pain from her head, side-eyed glances to the ropes as she registers the referee’s steady counts growing by the second above. Watson’s tummy is still beating in and out when a wide smile breaks across her face - the referee reaches the end of the 10-count and Stone has barely grasped onto the middle rope - IT’S OVER via KO5!!
Official Decision: Emma Watson defeats Emma Stone via KO5!
AFTER:
“That’s it. I hope there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind who the better Emma is,” Watson winking to reporters by ringside, with a wide smile on her face. “I heard dear Lily’s up next. I think I’ll make myself comfortable right here.”
With that statement, Emma Watson waves, still acknowledging the cheers, as she climbs out of the ring and walks down the steps, completely ignoring Emma Stone still trying to get off the canvas within the ropes. The Vixen has a towel draped over her shoulders as she makes herself comfortable in the VIP front row of seats, gulping down water as she awaits the arrival of yet another rival.
Stone, meanwhile, leaves the arena with a dejected look. The girl has potential, and the stones to back it up, but she needs to find the proper backing in order to score herself some much needed wins.
