4. Romee Strijd vs Candice Swanepoel
Victoria's Secret "War In Heaven" Quarter-Finals

BEFORE: It's time for the last quarter-final where Romee Strijd will defend the pride of the "old country" against Afrikaner Candice Swanepoel in what promises to be a true grudge encounter. Both of Romee's wins came at the expense of relatively inexperienced opponents however Candice has been doing this celebrity boxing thing for eleven years and might have found herself in a perfect position to secure a career-altering success.
The Lioness Club entourage doesn't seem concerned by Swanepoel's presence, one of their own Joy Corrigan pounded out the South African stunner on the Rio Rumble PPV three months ago and Romee owns superior physical tools over Corrigan to begin with. What can possibly go wrong here?
Romee Strijd wears an orange bikini set & blue gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Candice Swanepoel wears a light blue bikini set & silver gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a custom ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds.
Round 1:
Romee doesn't feel the need to rush her approach and allows Candice to swing the early attacks however the Dutch guard withstands the initial test and leaves the South African boucing off in fruitless fashion until a quick hook on the navel catches Strijd off guard. Candice drops another low bomb just above the waistline and proceeds to cash in with more gut-checking shots the younger blonde has a hard time embracing. Candice almost catches Romee with a stray head-butt as well but keeps working her over downstairs in effective fashion until she barges her onto the turnbuckle and rips more clean strikes before Strijd finally clinches her into a stalemate. The younger model can't quite strech her elbows in close range and fails to escape the phone booth trap either which allows Swanepoel to land more body blows for remainder of the round!
Round 2:
Candice tries to extend her advantage and targets the fellow blonde's midsection with another spirited rally however Romee lands the overhand response and wobbles the South African onto her heels which allows the younger model to step up with the jabbing encore. Candice's head-hunting effort just isn't very effective and she has to yield real estate when Romee nails her with a couple of heavy bombs straight up the middle. Ugh! Swanepoel's punching resistance was always her main problem and she drops into mid-distance a little too quickly here as well which only plays into Strijd's advantage as the lanky Dutch model swings more promising hooks and chases the older blonde into the corner where she whacks her on each temple and bangs a drilling shot on the breasts just before the bell. Woof! Candice slumps into quiet spasms and is probably saved by the bell here.
Round 3:
Romee jumps into a high-octane attack but misreads just how badly she affected Candice late in the second round. The South African model has plenty of juice left in the tank and can take a mean punch despite questionable reputation. She delivers another body assault but also clips the breasts to make Romee feel more threatened in the area where she has no previous experience. A quick clash of heads also aids Swanepoel's progress and she wobbles the younger blonde onto her heels before booming a left cross on the mouth that sends Strijd into a hectic retreat against the odds. The South African pounce is on thereafter however Candice just can't smack Romee with a noteworthy series and works the single-hand approach making the fellow blonde look overly defensive instead. Lioness coach Claudia Schiffer urges Romee to stop running away like that since it gives the judges a great excuse to back Swanepoel but maybe that crosser really hurt the Dutch model who displays visible swelling around the mouth come the bell.

Candice believes she can make the slugging approach work also targeting the younger blonde upstairs but she fails to overwhelm Romee with the initial attack and has to accept a similar response which carries more power supply. Romee stuffs Candice with a quick left/right combo on each temple and ducks underneath a looping effort before blasting the South African on the breasts and making her yelp in pain. Another uppercut double bounces off the chin and wobbles Swanny to the side where she reacts too late when Strijd SMOKES her with a booming right hand on the nose. Uh-oh!! Candice slumps into loud spasms yet she doesn't go down upon impact... which makes matters worse when Romee delivers the follow up that LIFTS the older blonde off her feet and sends her crashing down in a heap amid a loud ovation from the crowd. Ugh! She nailed Candice with another brutal shot on the chin and there is no way back for the Foxfire blonde anymore. She is duly counted out as Romee Strijd advances to "War In Heaven" semi-finals via KO4!!!
AFTER: The Dutch Angel takes her seventh victory of the season and indicates she can win the whole thing now! "Don't tell me how Candice was lucky to make it this far. She is way better than some of yer pundits realize! But old country always gets the job done over the settlers! It's a shame Behati Prinsloo couldn't make the grade this time since I really want to beat her up too! (...) I missed who won the previous quarter-final. Adriana or Kelly? Nevermind! I'm ready to go all the way and nobody can stop me!" (laughs).
