Intro:
Tonight's main event sees a rematch between Katherine McNamara taking on Vanessa Hudgens here in South Korea's Sajik Arena, the first time around Katherine defeated Vanessa by knockout in six rounds, can the Hall of Famer get revenge on her redhead opponent?
Before the contest a press conference was held in the ring with the ropes taken down, journalists standing behind barriers with cameras, coming from separate sides the fighters are all smiles as they strut down the aisles, Katherine wearing a red dress with matching heels, Vanessa wearing a figure hugging black dress and heels, they step into the ring, fists raised to each other for the cameras, the smiles gone as they lock eyes in an intense stare down.
Going to opposite sides of the ring and given a microphone each, Katherine given a nod that she is to speak first, thanking the organiser before saying "it is amazing to be sharing a ring again with Vanessa, I really do respect her, we had a great first fight but I did beat you, remember when I knocked you out Nessa?" Pointing at her opponent, Vanessa rolling her eyes in response as she doesn't look interested in being reminded who won their first clash.
Vanessa replying "this is a fresh fight Katherine and you should know by now, when I am put down I come back stronger, go ask Misha (Michelle Williams), go ask (Jessica) Lowndes, go ask (Hayden) Panettiere, all are better then you, yet every time they beat me I came back to knock them out, I am the fittest flyweight, the best there's ever been in this division for a reason" pointing over at Katherine as she speaks, both fighters looking tense as Katherine doesn't seem to appreciate the tone of Hudgens.
Firing back at Nessa, Katherine says "well I am not any of those you talk about, when we get in here tomorrow I am not going to let you back up, my foot is going to be on your chest as you look up wondering what happened again, like that face you pulled when I knocked you out" both women moving closer, the organiser getting between them as tempers are starting to boil up.
"Come tomorrow Katherine I won't be on my back here, I am going to enjoy bringing you back down to earth" says Vanessa, pushing the redhead as security rushes in to step between them, eyes full of fury on both of them, Katherine threatening Vanessa as she kicks off her heels, Vanessa waving her to bring it, both are led out the ring by their managers with both accusing the other of pushing their buttons.
Fight night, first out the curtain comes Katherine, she is wearing a red sports bra with white trim, matching trunks and shoes, white gloves with white thumbs, her hair braided for battle, she is followed by her coach Ana Beatriz Barros, Katherine looking all business as she enters the ring, throwing punches as she shadow boxes to warm up.
Here comes Vanessa now, she has her coach Julie Benz beside her, she heads down the aisle with a stone cold expression on her face, thudding her black gloves together, she is wearing a black sports bra with silver trim, matching trunks and shoes, hair also braided, she steps into the ring acknowledging the crowd with a raised right fist in the air, then getting into her own warm up drill.
As the fighters come together in the center of the ring the referee gets between them, warning them of no funny business, to keep this strictly a boxing fight as both women stare daggers at their opponent, when told to touch fists, they swipe gloves with their opponent, then jog back to their corners, fists raised ready when the bell rings to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1:
"Ding!" Out their corners up on their toes, it's like a fencing match to start as they step in with jabs then move back when one flashes towards their face, Katherine starts to land the cleaner shots when they open up a little more, with a one-two catching Nessa to the top of her head.
Down dips Vanessa later under a straight, hammering in two short left hooks to the body, just about missing with an overhand right as it grazes the top of her opponent's head, Katherine landing a double jab in return as they head towards the end of the first minute, Katherine looking the more relaxed up to this point.
But you can never sleep on Hudgens, who deflects a straight then steps in to bang a right hook to the side of her opponent's head, starting to hammer back the stunning redhead with piston like shots to the body, driving her to the ropes with Katherine needing to push her off to open back up space.
Katherine can't get far off the ropes, with Vanessa keeping on the front foot, landing punches through the guard of Katherine to knock her head back, McNamara able to land a short left hook near the final moments of the round, the bell rings with both women nodding to each other as if to say game on, knowing this will be a tough fight ahead for them.
Round 2:
Back at it they go around the center of the ring, exchanging more punches in volume now, Katherine starting off strong again as she keeps the early action on the outside, moving her upper body to dodge then strike a jab or straight into the face of the smaller face.
Crouching under a jab, Vanessa comes up with a left uppercut followed by a right cross, knocking back McNamara back again towards the ropes, she seems to believe that taking the body of Katherine will lead to victory, with Katherine hitting her around the top of her head.
Using her left forearm to bump back Nessa, Katherine lands a one-two into the top of Vanessa's head, moving back when the former champion just misses with a left cross, Katherine needing to open up more with combination punching, a three punch combo square into the face of Hudgens allows her to move into the center of the ring.
Vanessa keeps moving forwards trying to push back Katherine, both landing hard shots near the center of the ring, Katherine using her left to push Vanessa enough off balance to land short rights to the face of the Lookout fighter, when the round ends Katherine looks happy enough with her work, Vanessa thudding her gloves together annoyed she couldn't keep on top of the youngster this round.
Round 3:
Using more feints to open up Katherine, Vanessa showing off her skill set, catching Katherine with counter punches when she dodges the younger fighter, baiting Katherine into making mistakes, getting clipped across the top of her head in reply keeping her from rushing in closer.
A double jab catches Vanessa to the top of her head, Katherine moving more side to side, showing off the skills she has learned over her short career, bashing the face of Hudgens with a jab/right cross, knocking back the veteran to her heels as now she looks to be the aggressor.
A missed straight though leaves Katherine open to two hooks to the body, nearly getting headbutted off Vanessa, who is hammering in short punches as she now works on the inside, using her left shoulder to bump back the Redhead, Katherine getting caught over the top with overhand shots, making her shell up more.
Back around the outside of the ring focused more on defensive, Katherine is being outworked as Vanessa bangs away to the flanks, muscling back McNamara to the ropes, at the bell it's a solid round for Hudgens, Julie giving Vanessa a quick tap to her left shoulder, Katherine on the other hand has Ana telling her to get more aggressive, she is letting Vanessa off the hook too much for her liking.
Round 4:
Early on the round Vanessa working on the inside after crouching down under several punches from Katherine, sticking to pounding the body of the Fates fighter, barking out in effort as she starts to cause some redness to form around the body of McNamara.
Who catches Katherine with a short left hook to the side of the brunette's head, stepping in with a straight to knock back the head of Vanessa, with Nessa now back on the outside part of the ring, Katherine landing more stiffer combinations to snap back the head of Hudgens to the delight of her coach.
Vanessa is stubborn so keeps getting to the inside to work away, Katherine being more forceful, pushing back Vanessa to the outside, landing a hard one-two that sends a little sweat from Vanessa's brow, working Hudgens into a neutral corner, forcing Vanessa to cover up now as she works away.
Pulling Katherine into a clinch, they grapple in the corner as Vanessa tries to turn them around, referee struggles but does split them up, with both almost snarling as tempers seem to bubbling up, going toe to toe in the final twenty seconds of the round, at the bell they just about hold back, another good round for Katherine as she sits on her stool, getting wiped down by her coach, Vanessa taking a deep breath to cool off as she admits to Julie she lost her focus there.
Round 5:
Exchanging hard shots as they plant their feet more, Katherine slamming in a double jab to the top of Vanessa's head, she misses with a follow up left cross as Vanessa counters with an overhand right to the side of her head, pushing back the redhead into the ropes to work away.
Pushing back Vanessa to open up space, Katherine bashing in a double jab/straight combo, opening up a cut on the bridge of Vanessa's nose, popping back Hudgens towards the ropes across the ring, needing to clinch up with McNamara to slow her down, referee splitting them up as they start to dirty box, digging to each others kidneys.
Back comes Nessa as she won't let Katherine get off on her so easily, the fight starts to descend into a brawl, shoving with their left hands, then banging in their rights to the chin of their opponent, nearly clashing bodies when they swing in hooks, ending up clinched and pushing each other around.
The referee warns them to keep listen to their orders after splitting them up, both women exchanging around the ring, Katherine getting on top knocking around Nessa, then a miss allows Hudgens to start bashing her back, the bell rings with both landing a shot, with the referee needing to step in as they blame each other for the errant shot, coaches needing to herd their fighters back to their stools, cooling them off as both fighters look to be getting annoyed of their opponent.
Round 6:
Both fighters are getting more aggressive, sweat flying off both fighters brows when they get clocked clean with hard shots, getting in closer as they slug it out, Katherine moves back out the way of a right hook, drilling a jab then a straight into the face of Nessa to back her off.
Heading towards the second minute, Vanessa again misses with a right, her left is a little low as a right hook bangs off her jaw, A LEFT HOOK FOLLOWS TO SEND VANESSA DOWN ONTO HER LEFT SIDE! KATHERINE JUMPS UP WITH A BIG SMILE BEAMING OVER AT PUNCH!
Referee needing to nudge Katherine away to the neutral corner, 1...2...3.. This feels a little like deju vu again as Vanessa is down in the sixth, 4...5...6... She pushes herself to all fours as she moves towards the ropes, 7...8... Using the middle rope she is back on her feet, fists raised to show she can fight on.
Back comes Katherine when they are allowed to resume, Vanessa needing to use all her defensive skills, even holding onto the right arm of the redhead to slow down the charge, dirty boxing in the clinches as they thud in kidney shots, power each other against the ropes, referee giving both warnings.
Final moments of the round sees Katherine overextend on a straight as she wants to finish this fight now, instead she earns a hard counter left across the chin, then a right into her solar plexus, Katherine wincing as she gets knocked to the ropes, bell rings soon after with Nessa looking relieved not to have lost again in the sixth, Katherine annoyed she hasn't finished the job off as both get patched up.
Round 7:
Trading jabs early on as Katherine is looking for an opening to plow in a power punch to get the win, instead she swings in a right hook that only finds air, Vanessa lands a hard counter right to the solar plexus, the eyes of McNamara going wide as she gasps out, the tables suddenly turned around as now it is the smaller fighter taking the fight to her.
A right hook to the jaw wobbles Katherine into the ropes, she clinches up with Vanessa, who gets her left hand free to pepper the body of Katherine, dragging Vanessa desperately into a headlock to slow her down as the referee has to step in to break them up, the youngster getting a warning once more as she takes a deep breath.
On comes Vanessa though, keeping Katherine on the back foot, she pounds in several hard hooks when Katherine's punches miss, the redhead isn't landing with anywhere near the power she was before, her gas tank seems to have been drained by the body shots, sweat being sent flying off her head as Hudgens finds her second wind.
Final moments of the round sees Katherine being knocked back into her own corner, punches knocking her head back as Vanessa is going for the kill, the bell rings with the referee risking their health to jump in to hold Vanessa off Katherine, who has a cut over her left eyebrow, Ana needing to work hard with the rest of the Fates staff to get Katherine patched up.
Round 8:
Back out Katherine gamely comes, it's clear she is apprehensive as she tries to keep the range at a safe distance with single straight punches, Vanessa smartly feinting while looking for openings to strike, CROUCHING UNDER A JAB SHE LANDS AN UPPERCUT TO THE SOLAR PLEXUS OF HER RIVAL, THEN ANOTHER SHORT RIGHT AS DOWN GOES KATHERINE TO ALL FOURS!
The Lookout camp is jumping for joy as Vanessa marches to the neutral corner, 1...2...3... Katherine spits out her gumshield as she sucks in air, holding her stomach 4...5...6.. As she has her forehead touching the canvas, 7...8... Katherine has her eyes shut as her right foot taps the canvas, still in the same position, 9...10 as she is too hurt to move! It's over for McNamara!
Winner Vanessa Hudgens KO Round 8
After:
Vanessa had to fight her heart out tonight but she gets revenge on the tough redhead, mounting the bottom ropes of the corner behind her, Vanessa is smiling as she raises her arms in the air, getting whistles, applause and cheers from the crowd, this might be one of her most satisfying wins this year after nearly repeating her failure in the sixth getting put down by Katherine.
Jogging to her corner afterwards to be met by an embrace from each member of her corner crew, Vanessa thanking each of them for their hard work and not giving up on her tonight, Julie jokes "well don't go down so readily to Katherine and we won't have to worry" making both women laugh as Julie has her arm around the shoulders of Nessa.
All the while Katherine has to be helped to sit on her haunches, an ice pack applied to her body as tears run down her face, she shakes her head in disbelief that this time she couldn't get the job done, Ana consoling her by telling her "you'll be back stronger then ever, learn from your mistakes tonight" Katherine looks down at the canvas, more feeling sorry for herself then really wanting to listen to that advice.
Soon enough Katherine is helped over to her stool, she groans as she sits down on it, telling Ana "I can honestly say I've never looked more forwards to an ice bath then right now" gritting her teeth as it's clearly painful for her to move.
Which is why she is still sitting when Vanessa goes to the center of the ring for the final result to be announced, that seems to widen the smile of Vanessa as she looks over at Katherine, getting her right hand raised by the referee, another big victory on the CV of the flyweight legend.
Helped out the ring by Ana, Katherine looks more determined after watching Vanessa get her hand raised, clearly not wanting that to repeat itself when the eventual rematch happens between them, a nice little rivalry is brewing between these two, one thing Vanessa knows how to do is create a feud in an FCBA ring.
The winner meanwhile gets a microphone to thank the fans for turning out, then goes on a lap of honour applauding the fans and getting one back, clearly getting a new set of fans tonight, they'll be hoping that Vanessa is back on the path to getting a title, judging by just some of the action tonight concerning the flyweights, Vanessa has a lot of people to get past to get back to the promised land.

Final moments of the round sees Katherine being knocked back into her own corner, punches knocking her head back as Vanessa is going for the kill, the bell rings with the referee risking their health to jump in to hold Vanessa off Katherine, who has a cut over her left eyebrow, Ana needing to work hard with the rest of the Fates staff to get Katherine patched up.
Round 8:
Back out Katherine gamely comes, it's clear she is apprehensive as she tries to keep the range at a safe distance with single straight punches, Vanessa smartly feinting while looking for openings to strike, CROUCHING UNDER A JAB SHE LANDS AN UPPERCUT TO THE SOLAR PLEXUS OF HER RIVAL, THEN ANOTHER SHORT RIGHT AS DOWN GOES KATHERINE TO ALL FOURS!
The Lookout camp is jumping for joy as Vanessa marches to the neutral corner, 1...2...3... Katherine spits out her gumshield as she sucks in air, holding her stomach 4...5...6.. As she has her forehead touching the canvas, 7...8... Katherine has her eyes shut as her right foot taps the canvas, still in the same position, 9...10 as she is too hurt to move! It's over for McNamara!
Winner Vanessa Hudgens KO Round 8
After:
Vanessa had to fight her heart out tonight but she gets revenge on the tough redhead, mounting the bottom ropes of the corner behind her, Vanessa is smiling as she raises her arms in the air, getting whistles, applause and cheers from the crowd, this might be one of her most satisfying wins this year after nearly repeating her failure in the sixth getting put down by Katherine.
Jogging to her corner afterwards to be met by an embrace from each member of her corner crew, Vanessa thanking each of them for their hard work and not giving up on her tonight, Julie jokes "well don't go down so readily to Katherine and we won't have to worry" making both women laugh as Julie has her arm around the shoulders of Nessa.
All the while Katherine has to be helped to sit on her haunches, an ice pack applied to her body as tears run down her face, she shakes her head in disbelief that this time she couldn't get the job done, Ana consoling her by telling her "you'll be back stronger then ever, learn from your mistakes tonight" Katherine looks down at the canvas, more feeling sorry for herself then really wanting to listen to that advice.
Soon enough Katherine is helped over to her stool, she groans as she sits down on it, telling Ana "I can honestly say I've never looked more forwards to an ice bath then right now" gritting her teeth as it's clearly painful for her to move.
Which is why she is still sitting when Vanessa goes to the center of the ring for the final result to be announced, that seems to widen the smile of Vanessa as she looks over at Katherine, getting her right hand raised by the referee, another big victory on the CV of the flyweight legend.
Helped out the ring by Ana, Katherine looks more determined after watching Vanessa get her hand raised, clearly not wanting that to repeat itself when the eventual rematch happens between them, a nice little rivalry is brewing between these two, one thing Vanessa knows how to do is create a feud in an FCBA ring.
The winner meanwhile gets a microphone to thank the fans for turning out, then goes on a lap of honour applauding the fans and getting one back, clearly getting a new set of fans tonight, they'll be hoping that Vanessa is back on the path to getting a title, judging by just some of the action tonight concerning the flyweights, Vanessa has a lot of people to get past to get back to the promised land.
