TESS VALMORE
Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it is littered with unflattering comments, cheap shots and unjustified criticism. In the September predictions, I went 37-14 running my total to 2818-836 or 76% correct.
NEMOTO/MATSUGANE. This will be Nemoto’s twentieth fight of the year. Her record for the year is 10-9. Seven of those bouts were against Matsugane. Nemoto won four of those seven. She has lost her last two to Naomi Scott and Lamborghini. Matsugane has only has eight fights for the year, losing the last one to Hsieh. Nemoto will continue her dominance of this rivalry.
CAVANIS/RATCHFORD Cavanis is 5-3 for the year. Ratchford is 3-0 in the FCBA. This is a rematch. In the September PPV Ratchford knocked out Cavanis in seven. I will go with Ratchford to repeat
HSIEH/N.LEE. Hsieh, who broke in earlier this year is undefeated in six fights. Nata Lee must be making her debut as I cannot find her in the archives. It will not be a pleasant experience. Hsieh wins
S.LYNN/BARTLETT. LYNN is another who made her debut this year and is undefeated in six fights. In the September PPV, she beat Prinsloo. Revolution Boxing, the stable of Hsieh and Lynn is looking for easy fights. Jessica Bartlett is another who does not appear in the archives. New fighters rarely win. Bartlett is no exception. Lynn picks up another win
OLSEN/S.MITCHELL. Olsen is 8-2 for the win and has won her last four with those wins being over Minka Kelly, Bella Thorn, Scodelario and Lovato. She has a lot of support for a title fight. Mitchell is 2-2 for the year and one of her wins was also over Bella Thorne. I have to go with Olsen who presently has a hot hand
SWIFT/KYLIE JENNER. We now have a countdown for Taylor Swift to enter the Hall Of Fame. This will be her 92nd non JMD/DD fight she has won six of her last seven against top flight competition. Jenner is 6-2 for the year, but her wins were over average competition. One of her losses was to her sister Kendall in a blatantly nepotistic title fight. In her last fight, she beat a fading Kaley Cuoco. Swift will win and be in the head of the line for a title fight.
GILLAN/LAWRENCE GILLAN has broken into the top welters. We have her ranked at five in the welters. She is 7-1 for the year with that loss being to Kostek. Lawrence has lost four of her last five and dropped out of the top welters. She lost a welter title fight to Palicki in December and a JMDD title fight to DiDonato in June. Maybe she is spending too much time in Theron’s corner in her fights. It may help the GOAT, but it doesn’t help her. Gillan will win
RIGHETTI/FLAIR. Why waste time? Righetti will put Flair away in six or less
LARSON/CHOPRA. Larson has won four of her last five. One of her wins and her one loss was to Olsen. Chopra is 6-3 for the year with her losses being to Olsen, Gomez and Minka Kelly. She has wins of Ratajkowski and Shay Mitchell.
I think this is a 50/50 fight. Chopra is now 38 while Larson is six years younger. I think Larson will win.
LOVATO/LAMBORGHINI JMD
V.HUDGENS/KRAVITZ Lovato is 4-1 for 2021 That one loss was to Olsen. She is a member of the Hall Of Fame. Kravitz broke into the FCBA in July and has won both her fights, She’s a late comer at the age of 33 and is only a couple months younger than Hudgens. Hudgens will win in five
BEER/BRESLIN. Beer has a career record of 10-6 and is 3-3 for the year. She has been fighting average opponents, but one of her losses was to Lowndes. Breslin has a 7-3 record and is 2-1 for the year. Her loss was to Bush. I have to believe that Beer will win this bout.
DAY/FRADEGRADA. Day is a promising lightweight with a 12-4 career record.
She is 5-0 for the year with wins over Yustman, VanCamp and Miranda Kerr.
Fradegrada has a 9-2 career record and is 9-1 for the year. She has wins over Daddario and Lively. Her loss was to Eiza Gonzalez. This should be a fine fight. I think Fradegrada will win as she has fought better opponents. Don’t use this prediction to bet your hard earned money on Fradegrada
LOPILATO/McADAMS. Lopilato has a fine 37-14 record and is 6-3 for the year
McAdams is a veteran and has held the bantam title four times. She has lost five of her last seven. McAdams beat Lopilato on September 27, 2019. It’s taken Lopilato two years to challenge for a rematch. I guess she wanted McAdams to put on a little more age. She is nine years older than Lopilato. Lopilato will get her revenge
LYNCH/RIDLEY. Lynch is 6-3 for the year fighting against average competition. Ridley is 4-0 in the BBU but is 0-2 in the FCBA. Both have lost to Samara Weaving. Boxing World has Lynch ranked at 32 in the bantams and Ridley comes in at 38. I have to think that Lynch will win. Of course you can always question my ability to think.
REN/HAWKE Ren is 5-3 for the year. Three of her fights were body saddle bouts against Gillies. She won two. Two of the eight fights were against Taylor Swift. She lost both. Hawke made her debut last year winning all three of her bouts. This year she has had only one fight which she lost to Alyson Michalka. This should be an easy fight for Ren who will win in four.
A.WILLERTON/BARROS. Willerton has a combined record of 8-6. She made her FCBA debut this year and has won four of her five bouts. She has wins over Kubicka and Kloss. Her loss was to Courtney Tailor. Barros has exactly the opposite career record of Willerton and she is 1-2 for this year. Willerton will win her fifth bout of the year.
l.JAMES/DELEVINGNE. James has had six career fights, four of which were in the FCBA. She has won all six. Her big wins were over Hannah Brown and Kelly Brook. Delevingne is 1-2 for the year but has lost five of her last six. Her two losses this year were to Yustman and Gibbs. James will continue her unbeaten streak.
MICHELLE WILLIAMS/BASSINGER. Michelle may be 41 years old and a veteran of 235 fights, second only to Theron but she has been doing quite well against younger fighters. That said, she is 1-3 for the year making it the worst year of her career thus far. Her losses were all to top flyweights. Bassinger has been fighting for three years and has had sixteen bouts of which she has won nine. This year is not going well and she has lost four of six. Bassinger is nineteen years younger than Williams. That would usually something the older fighter can’t overcome. Not in this case. Williams will show Bassinger is not championship quality
A.SABATINI/M.MOORE, Sabatini made her debut in July and this will be her sixth fight. She has a 3-2 record against decent opposition. Moore is a seventeen year veteran with a career record of 31-42. She has lost both her fights this year and has lost six of her last seven. Sabatini is twelve years younger. She will win
HEARD/CANALIS Heard has a combined career record of 15-19. Her FCBA record is 12-16. This year’s record is 1-2, but that win was over Megan Fox who happens to be a bantam, not a lightweight. Heard is an average fighter at best. Canalis has a combined record of 8-20 and is 1-7 in the FCBA. Her FCBA win was back in 2016 when she beat Maran who never won a fight. Heard should win.
E.WILLEMS/McCURDY. WIllems is 7-10 for her career and is 2-3 for the year. She has lost her last three to Jacobs, Cicchino and Cosgrove. McCurdy won her first five bouts in 2019 but since then she has lost all three of her FCBA fights. She has had only two fights in the last two years. One of those losses was to Willems. McCurdy will lose again.
I.LAWRENCE/UTGAARD. This will be Lawrence’s debut. She is supposed to be a “glamour model” That’s all I know. Utgaard is a good choice as despite a 26-11 record, she has lost nine of her last eleven and has lasted past the sixth only one time. All those losses occurred since being released by Front Street and picked up by the Fighting Academy. That stable should be having second thoughts. Despite all that, newbies rarely win their first fight against a experienced opponent so I will go with Utgaard. Interestingly both are listed as welter/middleweights despite the fact that a middleweight division does not exist in either the BBU or FCBA.
HARRIER/A.MICHALKA. Harrier made her debut earlier this month beating McCarthy. Michalka is a veteran of 54 fights of which she has won 33. She has lost five of her last six, but all losses were to top ten bantams and a lightweight. Back to my rule. Harrier Is not making her debut but against a newbie, always bet on the experience fighter
MORETZ/S.CARPENTER. Moretz has a 16-16 career record and is 2-2 for the year. In her last fight, she lost to Juno Temple which was Temple’s only FCBA win after four losses. Carpenter has had only one fight which she lost back in 2019. She hasn’t fought since. She will regret she fought this time as Moretz will win. By the way Moretz has a four inch height advantage.
CHERYL COLE/DANIELLE CAMPBELL. Cole has a 40-13 FCBA record. She is 5-1 for the year with her only loss being to Emma Watson. Campbell has a 27-17 record but has lost six of her last eight. I have to to with Cole to win
S.GOMEZ/B.MADISON. Selena has a career FCBA record of 40-22. She is 4-2 for the year, losing to Scodelario and Munn in a upset. Boxing World has her ranked at thirteen in the bantams. Madison has been in the FCBA for four years but has only had nine fights four of which were this year. She is 2-2 for this year. She lost to Hsieh and Monreal. She will lose to Gomez, who is two inches shorter
DOBREV/TAYLOR-JOY. Dobrev is another LCA fighter on her way to the Hall Of fame ,but that is probably eighteen months away at her current rate of bouts. This year she is 6-1 with the loss being to Elizabeth Olsen. Taylor-Joy made her debut in 2017. She has had eleven bout of which she has won ten. Her only loss was in 2018 to Bella Thorne. This is going to be a tough fight for Nina, but I think she will end it with a KO of her opponent
KUBICKA/LEITHOLD. Kubicka has a career record of 13-4. She is 2-2 for the year with her losses being to Amy Willerton and Eiza Gonzalez. Leithold has has two FCBA fights losing to Gerber and Ren. Kubicka is a little unpredictable, but I think she will win
DECKER/KRSMANOVIC. Decker is another LCA member on her way to the Hall Of Fame. At her current rate she is probably three years away since at least six of her fights and three wins were at JMDD. She has a 58-22 record but is only 4-3 for the year. Her losses this year were to Gillan, Hoopes and Upton. Krsmanovic has a 21-22 career FCBA record and is 5-5 for the year with four of
her five losses being to top eight ranked welters. Most of those fights were in the Diamond tournament. Krsmanovic certainly can win this bout, but my money is on Decker
CORRIGAN/CLOUTIER. Corrigan comes in with a winning career record of 12-4 and is having a good year being 4-1 with her only loss being to Eiza Gonzalez. Cloutier was signed by the Fighting Model Franchise. She has had only one fight which was back in 2017 which she lost. She is a little late to the game being 34. She does have a two inch height advantage, but I doubt that will help her, Corrigan will be the one standing at the end of this bout.
CICCHINO/PANETTIERE. Cicchino made her debut on July 23, 2021 She had four bouts in August and five in September. She has won all eleven of her bouts. Now she takes on a Hall Of Fame member. Since 2018 Hayden has been on a decline Since the beginning of that year she has a 10-13 record. Panettiere is only 32 but she is 13 years older than Cicchino. Cicchino’s win streak has to come to an end sometime. I’m not sure Panettiere is going to do it but I will take that chance. Panettiere will win
BOCCIA/MORTON. JMDD
TATANGELO/SUMMERS JMDD
NASTI/PIETERSE. Nasti is another IBB fighter who is in a hurry. She made her debut on April 30,2021 and has already had 13 bouts winning 8. So far she has beaten mediocre fighters and lost to good ones. Pieterse has been around for eighty years, She has a career record of 15-16. She is 1-2 for this year. That one win was over Nasti. Nasti wants revenge. She won’t get it.
Di PATRIZI/ROBBIE. Di Patrizi is another IBB fighter in a big hurry. Debuting on April 30, she has had fourteen fights winning eight. She has lost four of her last five. Robbie has a career record of 27-25. She is 3-4 for the year with three of those losses being to Hall Of Fame members. I will go with Robbie
McNAMARA/MENDES. JMD
WEAVING/BUSH. JMD
ROSE/CHURCH JMD Title
DiDONATO/UPTON JMDD Title
FOX/LOWNDES For the Unified Flyweight Title. Fox just joined the Hall Of Fame and is having a great year being 9-1 for the year and winning her last nine. Lowndes is another LCA member who has a good shot at getting into the Hall Of Fame. She has a 50-29 record and is 4-3 for year. Height and age are not factors. The two have only fought once with Fox winning. I think Fox will repeat
WINSTEAD/GONZALEZ For the Unified Lightweight Title. Winstead Is having a great year being 5-0 with wins over Huntington-Whiteley, Gerber, Strahovski, Swift and Jenner. Gonzalez is also having a good year being 4-1 with her only loss being to Rohrbach. I have to admit that I am prejudiced towards Winstead, but I really think that Winstead will retain her title
H,FERGUSON/TAILOR. For the Unified Welterweight Title This will be Ferguson’s fourth defense. So far she has beaten Kostek, Lawrence and Corrin. Hannah is 7-1 for the year. Tailor is 6-3 for the year. She has beaten Swift, , Upton and Sagra while losing to Palicki, DiDonato and Righetti. I am of the opinion that Ferguson will retain her title
McCARTHY/THERON. This is a bout 22 years in the making. The “Greatest Playmate “vs “The Greatest Of All Time” Two Iconic blondes. One from the Streets of Chicago, the other from the plains of South Africa. One who loves the spotlight, the other very private. One who likes to watch Academy Award movies while the other stars in Academy Award nominated movies. One has a difficulty with English, while the other is bilingual. One has been screaming for a fight while the other ignored the possibility… until now. She’s finally had enough of the “mouth” The two will get into the ring but only one will be left standing. Will it be the refugee from Hugh Hefner’s Grotto or will it be the One who lives in the hills above L.A.. Unfortunately I am barred from predicting Theron fights but I will be on pins and needles until I find out who wins
Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it is littered with unflattering comments, cheap shots and unjustified criticism. In the September predictions, I went 37-14 running my total to 2818-836 or 76% correct.
