TESS VALMORE
The September PPV was another huge card in which all four official titles were up for grabs. Megan Fox retained her title by turning back Avril Lavigne. Demi Rose added insult to injury by turning back Emily Ratajkowski in a bantamweight title bout after taking JMD title from her. Hannah Ferguson successfully defended her welterweight title by beating Emma Corrin. Only the lightweight title changed as Mary Elizabeth Winstead took the title from Kendall Jenner with a ten round knockout. I don’t believe anyone deserved another title than Mary Elizabeth. As I have said many times, no one has fought a harder schedule than she. It is her fourth title. Unfortunately, at the age of thirty-seven she has an outside chance of getting into the Hall Of Fame, as her win ratio after 116 fights is only 56%.
In the flyweights, three of Boxing Worlds top ten lost. Avril, McNamara and Colins all lost. Olivia Holt, Emma Roberts. Ariel Winter and Emma Watson would be possible contenders. I think Holt might have the inside track. The two haven’t fought in three years and Holt won the last fight. Cucchino seems to think she is going to rule. Would she like to find out now?
Demi Rose has a wide choice of opponents, but she has been put in a corner as Elizabeth Olsen has gotten widespread praise. I think it is going to be hard for her to avoid giving her a title shot. Brie Larson is in a strong position and then there are the two Hall OF Fame candidates from LCA, Minka Kelly and Nina Dobrev who are deserving.
Winstead has a wide range of choices. Taylor Swift and Huntington-Whiteley are probably out since they have just lost to Winstead. Courtney Tailor, Ren, DiDonato if she can stop defending her JMDD title, and Lipa would all be good choices. I wouldn’t be shocked if Strahovski would get a shot. Although Winstead has beaten the former four time champion this year, they have the best long term rivalry in the FCBA
The welterweights are essentially a private club. Occasionally an outsider is invited in and quickly disposed of. I know Kate the Great, wants to get her hands on Ferguson. Then there is “Big Rigs” Tahnee Atkinson, Hilary Rhoda, Gillan and Decker all waiting for a call
Three more made their debut bringing the total of new fighters to 73
