TESS VALMORE
The July PPV was the biggest of the year with forty-nine bouts. All four official weight division titles were scheduled plus three JMD/D titles and a Mistress of the Body Saddle. Only three of the title matches resulted in a change. Camila Mendes defeated to Olivia Holt for the Unified Flyweight title. The BBU JMDD title changed hands as Kate Upton defeated Bethany Lily April in a bizarre matchup. I can’t imagine why April’s management thought it would be a good idea to put her in the ring with a top welter who was not only twenty pounds heavier but three inches taller. Finally Taylor Swift is the new Mistress of the Body Saddle. I’m not even sure why we should recognize the Body Saddle to begin with.
In the welters, Hannah Ferguson defended her title against Camille Kostek in a hard fought battle. Righetti remains in the title chase by defeating Adrianne Palicki, but Righetti always is. Lawrence and Willerton won their bouts to remain in the title chase. One who didn’t remain in the title chase at this time was Tahnee Atkinson who suffered a big upset loss to Lawley. This division is getting increasingly boring. While there are good fights occurring, the same names have been dominating for a long time. Of course, this is nothing new. ‘This division has been shallow for years. Of the forty-nine bouts on this card, there were only five welter bouts or 10.2% of the total bouts
Kendall Jenner defended her title by beating Gemma Arterton. I think the biggest moves towards a title match were made by Wallis Day and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Day beat Miranda Kerr and Winstead KOed Yvonne Strahovski in another of their bitter rivalry matches. I don’t think Day is quite ready yet, but Winstead definitely is. She has won her last six of her last seven with wins of Huntington-Whiteley, Strahovski, Teles and Gerber. She has fought nothing but the best for years. She is 3-3 against Kendall. Of course DiDonato. Ren and Taylor Swift also could get title shots. Speaking of Taylor Swift, she guaranteed her entry into the Hall of fame by winning her 60th fight. Sh could lose all ten of her next matches and still have the record to get into the Hall Of Fame. The initial Hall Of Fame member, Charlize Theron set another milestone by scoring her 200th knockout win.
Naomi Scott remains the bantam champ. She has eliminated some top bantams by already successfully defending her title five times. I think that Elizabeth Olsen should get a title shot. She has beaten two of the top challengers Minka Kelly and Nina Dobrev who could also get the title match. Shay Mitchell boosted her stock be beating Bella Thorne. Brie Larson could be another who could get the title match. In short, in contrast to the welters, there is no shortage of contenders
The Flyweights are similar to the bantams. The division is very deep. Mendes is the new champ. Watson. Emma Roberts, Lavigne and Lowndes all had wins that could justify a title fight. Actually Mendes could look at Boxing Worlds top twenty for a title match without much controversy
This was a huge card and I think that Lookout deserves a pat on the back for sending out the results and then putting this card together and posting it. It seems to me that he is taken too much for granted. Kudos
