Our reporter sits in the Great Room at The Manor watching baseball and drinking cold beverages with Poindexter Del Crunchy and the Man In The Hat.
Reporter: "So, how about Dobrev leaving Lookout! That's got to be a surprise."
Pointy: "Sure is. That girl has plenty of talent. But, sometimes a fighter, just like a ballplayer, needs a change of scenery."
Reporter: "There's going to be some interest in Nina, I'll bet..."
Man In The Hat: "If we had an opening, I'd be interested. Like Pointy says, she has plenty of talent. I think she just got shuffled into a numbers game over there for awhile and could never get out of it."
Reporter: "How so?"
Man In The Hat: "Remember, she started out fighting fly in the same division with champs like Hudgens, Tisdale, and Lohan. Moved up to bantam and found herself competing with more champions, Kelly, Cuthbert, and VanCamp. Eventually, Kelly got traded and Elisha moved upstairs, but Nina was still behind Emily. I think it got to the kid, and I suspect that's why she asked out. Wants a fresh start somewhere else. She'll get one, I'll wager. Just not here."
Reporter: "Because there's no space..."
Man In The Hat: "Correct. Everybody who's here right now deserves to be here. You could argue, and persuasively, that, at this moment, Nina is better than some of those girls. But, that's not the razor. The razor is, have the girls who have spots here earned those spots? And, they have. And, until that changes, there's no space on this roster."
Reporter: "Hawkeye seems to thing Graham is pretty close to breaking through..."
Pointy: "He's not the only one."
Man In The Hat: "Here's hoping he's right."
Reporter: "I have a theory."
Man In The Hat (chuckling): "I love it when you have a theory..."
Reporter: "I think there are three templates for showing that you DON'T deserve to be at Front Street."
Man In The Hat: "Go on..."
Reporter: "One is what I call 'The Jamie Lynn Spears Template'. The total flame out. She was a top prospect but completely fell apart. The second is what I call 'The Nicole Scherzinger Template'. The fatal flaw..."
Pointy: "You sound like you're writing a bad play, Bartholomew..."
Reporter: "Hear me out. Nicole won some fights and even beat some good fighters, but she was never going to get to the top because of her chin. She couldn't put together a series of wins and earn a title shot because the chin always got her."
Man In The Hat: "What's template number three?"
Reporter: "This is the one that I think is more relevant to the present situation. I call it 'The Amanda Seyfried Template'."
Man In The Hat (smiling): "See, I knew where you were going, but it was still fun to watch you get there..."
Reporter: "Seyfried had no fatal flaw. And, she didn't crash and burn. But. She had chance after chance to break through, and she never did. She came close. I still remember the Kreuk fight. She came close. But, she couldn't seal the deal. And, eventually, she ran out of chances. That's where I see Graham right now. She's had several chances. How many more will she get?"
Man In The Hat: "As I said the other day, that's not what it's about. It's about whether she's EARNED more chances. And, let me tell you that what I saw against Portman indicates to me that she HAS earned more chances."
Reporter: "Let's talk about Asylum for a minute. You seemed very pleased with Bennet despite the rough start..."
Man In The Hat : "BECAUSE of the rough start. That fight was almost a copy of the fight she lost to Alice Eve, caught and hurt early, in deep trouble. Against Eve, she didn't have the tools to climb out of the hole. She's got 'em now. And she used 'em. Different fighter now. And, don't get me wrong, she was pretty good THEN. Now? Let's just say I'm pretty high on Chloe Bennet."
Reporter: "Where are the lights now?"
Man In The Hat: "Katy's on top with Anna. Gems can be right there with them with a win. If not, it's a Big Two with three or four girls right behind. I like our lightweights right now. A lot."
Reporter: "Title shot?"
Man In The Hat (shrugging): "We're ready. For the winner of Biel/Lively. Because, as I said before, Ginster is a smart lady. She's not letting Lively/Biel go by a second time."
Pointy: "Do I have to do your job FOR you, lad? Wizardo, what do you think about Lookout! signing Lovato?"
Reporter: "I was GETTING to that..."
Man In The Hat (laughing): "The same thing YOU do, Big Man."
Pointy: "I think it's bloody brilliant!"
Man In The Hat: "Like I said. Here's a kid who's built for bantam. Got the body. Got the power. She's gorgeous. She's got a big name. She's young. Loads of potential. This is a smart move by Lishy Cuthbert. Lovato fits right in behind VanCamp at bantam. And. If I'm Emily, I'm lookin' over my shoulder. Now. Let's watch some ball, shall we?"
