Intro:
The penultimate fight of the Diamond Boxing Tournament sees Danielle Herrington look to finish strong against the woman who has ended up in third place, Bo Krsmanovic has the bronze medal place sewn up, can she keep her momentum going?
Danielle comes into this fight with a tournament record of two wins of six, the fact she was the least experienced in the tournament means she hasn't had the heat of the spotlight on her like others but even with a not so impressive record in the event, she has caught many peoples eyes with her performances throughout.
Bo on the other hand was struggling for consistence in recent years, after becoming the BBU welterweight champion, a shock defeat to Kelly Brook seemed to dampen any prospects of another title, well wins over Antje Utgaard, Bridget Regan, Damaris Lewis and Romee Strijd have gotten pundits talking about her in a positive way once more.
Before the bout both women came face to face on stage at the press event, elegantly dressed as Danielle wore a navy blue dress with matching heels to Bo's tanned dress, they stood nose to nose intensely staring each other down, then they shook hands as Bo smiled, Danielle didn't as she looked all business.
Heading to opposite sides of the stage for a moment, Danielle is asked to speak first at the podium, she nods to herself before telling the crowd "it has been hard going since day one of this tournament, I came in undefeated in my career looking at this as my chance to prove I belong in that elite club, what I have learned is that I still have work to do, with each fight I have taken hard knocks but here I stand ready for more" arms out at her side as if to show she hasn't been kept down yet.
"Now Bojana is sweet, she is nice, I have seen plenty of her in that ring to know she is stone cold in there, so whether this is all a facade or not I don't care, all I care about is when that bell rings I am taking her to the woodshed for a beating, I ain't going out of this tournament on my back" Danielle says as she shakes her right index finger in the air, all the while Bo giggles and nods.
When Bo gets to the podium she says "for the record I really do try to be nice outside the ring, why be negative when life can be fun right?" She waves her hands to the crowd like a conductor as they cheer "yes" to make her chuckle.
Turning to Danielle, Bo says "Danielle has proven herself in my eyes and I know plenty of others in this tournament have been awoken to her talents, that doesn't mean that she will beat me though, I have proven I am back to my best and sorry babe but you aren't at that level yet" making Danielle look annoyed, arms folded in front of her chest as she stares hard at Bo.
Before Danielle has a chance to fire back there is a ceremony for Bojana coming third, a bronze medal with a a green sash is placed around Bo's neck, Bo thanking the tournament organiser with a hug as she looks mesmerized by the medal with her name on and the year, Danielle watches on but leaves as soon as she can.
Fight night in the legendary Madison Square Garden, first out the curtain comes Danielle with coach Jeri Ryan beside her, she is wearing her traditional attire of a blue sports bra with yellow trim, matching trunks and shoes, blue gloves with yellow thumbs, while her hair is in a ponytail.
She steps into the ring looking deeply serious, Jeri massages her shoulders as she tells her not is the time to start winning the big fights, not just turning up and doing a good job with no reward for it, Danielle fist bumps her as she nods at her.
Now her comes Bo with coach Nia Peeples, she gets a cheer as she jogs down the aisle with that beautiful smile, she is wearing a bronze coloured sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves as she goes for the warrior look, hair is braided as she steps into the ring.
Bo blows kisses to her fans as she looks relaxed, tapping her cheeks when standing in her corner as she looks to be getting into her business mode, Nia telling her to finish this tournament strong and onto more big fights on the right foot.
Referee waves the fighters together, eyes burning a hole through their opponent as Danielle bounces on her toes, Bo hands on hips as they stare their opponent down, thudding their gloves into their opponent's set, they return to their corners to a loud cheer, when ready the referee signals for the bell to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
Kicking off the action trading jabs, Danielle is more up on her toes of the two, moving more side to side as Bojana is looking for an opening to get in closer, Danielle lands a one-two combo after the opening moments to knock back Bo a step.
When Danielle tries to build off her success, she misses with a right as she tries to step in closer, Bo moving her head out the way, then moving in closer with an uppercut to the abs of the American, then lands a left across the cheek of Herrington.
Pushing the action forwards, Bo is showing her strength which is her inside fighting, bashing back her younger foe towards the ropes, getting pushed back by Danielle, who lands a one-two again to try to keep Bo at range.
But Danielle is finding it hard to keep Bo at range, with Krsmanovic taking the center of the ring, pushing back the Serbian, she keeps getting knocked back though with punches drilling into her chest, then banging away at her face.
At the bell it is a strong round for Bo, she jogs back to her corner looking relaxed, Danielle bangs her gloves together with a nod to Jeri, knowing she hasn't gotten off to a start she wanted to, Jeri telling her to keep relaxed and do as they worked on.
Round 2:
Starting to use more feints to go along with moving side to side, Danielle peppering the cheeks of her opponent with two to three punches at a time, making Bo have to think how to get to the inside, fighting now on Danielle's terms.
Which isn't looking so great for Krsmanovic as she eats a double jab to the face, missing with a left cross as she tries to step in, leading to a counter right from Herrington landing across her cheek to make her take a step back as her head turns to the side.
On comes Danielle as she turns up the heat on Bojana, forcing her now to move around with the ropes close to her back, she is out working the former champion as they head past the half way point of the round, keeping the PLP fighter on the defensive.
Maybe showing too much excitement of that, Danielle tries to lunge in with a straight that gets knocked aside, Bo lands an uppercut that knocks back Herrington a step, momentum switching back as Bo now works back Danielle across the ring onto the ropes opposite where they were.
Final thirty seconds sees Bojana pounding the sides of her opponent, who covers up tight under the assault, showing what one mistake at this level can do, at the bell Bojana holds off as she turns to her corner with a hard look on her face knowing that didn't go so well for her, Danielle meanwhile is almost kicking herself for charging in like that when she was on top.
Round 3:
Stinging the cheeks of her opponent as she keeps on the move, Danielle is looking more crisper with her punches compared to how she ended the last round, getting clipped still as Bo bares down on her, for the most part keeping the fight where she wants it over the opening thirty seconds.
On comes Bo though as she deflects a jab to hammer in her own jab to the chest of Danielle, there's a close range firefight as Danielle stands her ground, cheers ringing out as the fighters land hard thudding shots that cause cracks of leather to ring out.
Leaning out the way of a left cross, Danielle counters with an uppercut that knocks Krsmanovic to her heels, tables turning with half the round to go back to Danielle, who pounds in three punches square to the face of her opponent, making the Serbian stunner cover up more tightly.
While Bo is trying to fight her way back to the middle of the ring, she is being pounded to her face by Danielle, who is simply throwing more then she is, making it hard for Krsmanovic to do more then settle back behind her guard up until the bell rings, ending another good round for Herrington as she jogs back to her corner looking calmer now she is putting rounds on the board.
Round 4:
Needing to close the distance quicker, Bojana is hunting down Danielle right away, stiff jabs slamming into faces as they knock each other back a step before they come fighting back, cheeks marked up as they fight around the middle of the ring.
Bo shows her class to slip a straight before banging in two left hooks under the ribs of Danielle, who when she backs off finds Bo using her left forearm to nudge her back with a right hook landing to the side of her head, Jeri complaining about the shove as she holds her arms out to the side.
Pressing Danielle into a corner, Bo shows that raw power that has made her known as "Big" Bo, roaring as she pounds the sides of her opponent, making Danielle clinch up to stop the assault, referee needed to step in as both women grind foreheads, breaking them apart with Danielle getting out the corner.
As they resume Danielle is struggling to get far off the ropes as Bo is right on her, both slugging away on the inside, Krsmanovic looking more comfortable in the pocket as she drills in a mixture of punches to send sweat off her younger opponent, keeping pressed towards those ropes.
When the round ends it is a better round for Bojana, who returns to her corner with a small hint of her smile coming back, Nia wiping her down as she tells her to grind Danielle into submission, with Danielle being told not to let Bo bully her around.
Round 5:
Again Bojana is out the gates quickly, Danielle trying to stand her ground but gets distracted when her tits take two hooks across them, as she hisses out and drops her guard, Bo lands a clubbing right across her face to send sweat flying.
Krsmanovic showing she will use any trick from her experience to win this, pounding the abs of Danielle as she works her onto the ropes, the American beauty pulling her into a clinch to stop the assault, referee needed to step in again as heads grind together.
Once apart Danielle starts to get some rhythm going, banging in two punch combos flush to the face of Krsmanovic, sending sweat off her head as she gets back on her back, both coaches urging their fighters on as the crowd is chanting each fighters name.
A nudge to the chest of Danielle leads her into a corner as Bo again roughs her up, forehead into her face as she pounds away at the body with hooks, making Danielle grimace as she groans out, hanging onto Bo to force the referee to break them up.
Final moments sees both slamming hard punches into faces as there's a little swelling under the left eye of both fighters as their rights smash through gloves into beauty faces, at the bell they stare each other down before turning on their heels to go to their corner, with both getting patched up as they discuss the fight with their coaches, Bojana seeming to have stemmed the charge of Danielle now.
Round 6:
Stepping back out their corners looking as determined as they stepped into the ring, Bojana starts off strong as she peppers the abs of Danielle, just missing with some overhand shots in the opening thirty seconds, Danielle moving back more with eyes slightly narrowed.
Sidestepping Bojana to the Serbian fighters left, Danielle pounds her right into the temple area of her opponent, causing Bo to stumble back a step blinking, seeing that Danielle is on her like a rash, slamming in three rapid fire punches to her face, knocking back Krsmanovic into a corner.
Needing to hold onto Danielle as she is clearly buzzed, Bojana is shaking her head as Danielle tries to break free, referee needing to split them up as Danielle starts to dig away at the kidneys of her opponent to get her off, getting a warning in the process as Jeri yells about the shoving from Krsmanovic.
Back they go but it's clear Bo is having issues, Danielle is dodging her punches and slamming in hard shots that are causing Bo to stumble, if not for Bojana's toughness she might have been down, instead she is hanging on again, trying desperately to get time to recover.
When the bell rings to end the round, Bojana holds the top rope with her right hand as she walks back to her corner, Nia asking if she is OK, checking her over as Bo's left eye is starting to swell, Danielle banging her gloves together as she sits on her stool.
Round 7:
Bo comes out to cheers but it's clear she is still not one hundred percent, Danielle pounding her fists through the guard of Bo as she dances back out the way of the more wilder lunges from her opponent, LEADING TO ANOTHER RIGHT ON THE TEMPLE AREA SENDING BOJANA DOWN TO ALL FOURS AS HER LEGS GO!
Danielle pounds her chest with her right as she stares at Bo, heading to the neutral corner with Jeri jumping for joy outside the ring, 1...2...3... Bo is trying to get up, 4...5... She is dazed badly as she stumbles and falls to her right side, 6...7...8.. Falling to her back with her left forearm covering her eyes as 9...10 it is all over!
Winner Danielle Herrington KO Round 7
After:
Danielle pulls off the minor upset as she yells "f**king come on!" Looking to the heavens as she does, it has been a bumpy ride this tournament but what a statement to make to end her time within it, getting a big hug from a proud Jeri back in her corner.
While Bojana has Nia checking her over along with the ringside doctor, it takes a few moments for the haze to leave her head, Bo is helped to sit up as she apologizes to Nia for losing, with Nia telling her to focus on herself right now, hugging and kissing Bo on her forehead to show it is OK.
Over comes Danielle to check on Bo after her gloves are taken off, kneeling down to tell Bo "it was a great fight, you really are as tough as they come, I thought I would need a truck to knock you down at the end" Bojana giggling as her bubbly personality seems to have returned, she congratulates Danielle as they share a fist bump of respect.
Then Bo is helped up to her feet and slowly out the ring, the doctor wants to check her over after the hard shots to her head, getting a round of applause with some yelling that they love her, Bo smiles as this tournament didn't end how she wanted tonight but she can still be proud of leaving it with a bronze medal and a chance to beat herself into the title picture.
The winner meanwhile gets her right arm raised to a loud roar from her supporters, Jeri raising her other arm as she tells the crowd "this is your future face of this division" Danielle grinning at that, clearly liking that idea as she nods to Jeri before the pose for the camera side by side, arms around the small of each others backs with their other fist raised up.
Stepping out the ring together, finishing in fifth place isn't a bad way to end the tournament for someone who only had three fights in her career up to that point, her potential is clear for everyone to see, time will tell if she fulfils it or if she will be another story of what could have been.

Then Bo is helped up to her feet and slowly out the ring, the doctor wants to check her over after the hard shots to her head, getting a round of applause with some yelling that they love her, Bo smiles as this tournament didn't end how she wanted tonight but she can still be proud of leaving it with a bronze medal and a chance to beat herself into the title picture.
The winner meanwhile gets her right arm raised to a loud roar from her supporters, Jeri raising her other arm as she tells the crowd "this is your future face of this division" Danielle grinning at that, clearly liking that idea as she nods to Jeri before the pose for the camera side by side, arms around the small of each others backs with their other fist raised up.
Stepping out the ring together, finishing in fifth place isn't a bad way to end the tournament for someone who only had three fights in her career up to that point, her potential is clear for everyone to see, time will tell if she fulfils it or if she will be another story of what could have been.
