Intro:
We kick off this years Sin City Rollers card in Las Vegas's MGM Grand with two former MMA fighters who know each other very well, Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate's feud helped legitimize women's MMA for a lot for fans stuck in their old world views, now they step into the boxing ring for their trilogy fight.
For those who don't follow MMA, the quick history is they fought twice, first in the now defunct "Strikeforce" MMA company, where Miesha held their bantamweight title, Ronda was the young upstart getting the headlines, their highly anticipated fight ended with Ronda winning with an armbar in the first round back in March 2012.
Then on the 28th December after the company had been brought by the UFC and it's doors shut, Ronda was given the women's bantamweight title in the UFC and in a role reversal it was Miesha hunting Ronda down, this time after a hard fought back and forth of strikes and grappling, Ronda finished the job in the third round via submission again.
So what brought these two titans of women's MMA to the boxing ring here in the FCBA? Well a simple throw back photo lit the fuse for these two to go at it again.
See the build up to the second fight saw both be rival captains on that series of Ultimate Fighter that the UFC runs, the UFC posted the picture above as a way to remind people of the great rivalry between the two in their mixed martial arts primes, staring the woman they hate the most on this planet.
That led to Rousey posting "ah the good old days when I used to whip Miesha around the octagon for fun, no wonder she wants to come back when your history is defined by me 😂" which of course didn't sit well with Miesha.
Who would fire back with "Ronda last I checked you ran away a laughing stock, I left a hero to many, I mean you now prance around a boxing gym thinking you know how to throw fists, I always wondered what it would be like to knock your arrogant ass out 👊" which of course caught the attention of the worlds media.
The FCBA decided to get both women involved on the next Fight Night Live card, with both women signing the contract on the FCBA Network to open the event, there was of course trash talking and pushing when they went face to face, years apart and still that raw hatred burns deep for them.
Before the fight Ronda told the FCBA Network's Lucy Liu as she sat in the studio "I made Miesha a house hold name, without me she was some second rate wrestler who I bullied around like she was my little sister, she wants to show she can beat me at something, she is welcome to throw fists with me but she is never going to be better then me at anything" a fire in her eyes not seen in a while as she spoke.
Same for Miesha who instead did a open workout session to show what she was doing, even sparring a local boxer for the cameras as she puts them down with an overhand right during the session, hugging them when she is done as they share a laugh.
Turning to the camera as she leans over the ropes with her black gloves still on, Miesha says "Ronda you mouthy f**ker, for too long we have been kept apart and I have listened to you act as if I didn't matter, while I respect your talents, you are a piece of sh*t who run when faced with adversity, now I finally shut you the hell up" slapping the top rope downwards with her gloves before walking away from the cameras.
Fight night with the crowd buzzing for what is just the opening contest of the night, out first comes Ronda with her old MMA coach behind her, she bounces on her toes as she is bare foot tonight, even though this is boxing both seem to want to bring a little MMA into this as she heads to the ring wearing a black leather jacket and a red and black kilt as she goes full "Rowdy" tonight.
Stepping into the ring Ronda jogs around the inside of the ring with her tapped fists throwing punches, once in her corner the jacket and kilt comes off to reveal a red sports bra with an orange "Rowdy" written across the front, red trunks with "Rousey" written in gold across the waistband, red gloves put on by her coach as her hair is braided.
Now out comes Miesha wearing a Settle Seahawks Jersey with "Tate" and the number one on her back, the Washington native banging her college blue gloves together as she jogs to the ring, eyes firmly on Ronda as her supporters whistle and cheer her on.
Once in the ring Miesha turns to the crowd, beating her chest with her right glove before the Jersey is helped off by her coach, Miesha is wearing a Sea hawks colours sports bra and trunks, her hair is tied into a ponytail as the she bounces on her toes shadow boxing.
The referee waves both women to the center of the ring as the crowd cheers loudly, a little distance between them as they shake their arms to keep them loose, eyes firmly locked as if they were back in the cage, referee finishing their instructions telling the fighters to touch gloves, there's a hard crack of leather as they thud them together, jogging to their corners to loud cheers as both pace in their corners, the bell dings to start 10 rounds of 135lbs catchweight action.
Round 1:
At the bell both rivals come towards the middle of the ring on their toes, circling as both looks for an early opening to strike with a big right, stinging jabs catching their opponent towards the others cheeks as neither wants to commit too early.
Then Miesha feints with her right, ducking under a straight from Ronda, "Cupcake" bangs in two left hooks to the body, making the blonde retreat back as Miesha now is pushing forwards, digging to the body of Ronda, trying to soften her up for the bigger punches up top.
As Miesha learns she has to keep her guard up as Ronda lands a left/right cross combo to turn her head, back to the center they go as both women let their hands go more now, banging punches through guards as they slug it out, all the pent up anger build up over years being released.
Past half way in the round, Miesha manages to catch Ronda with a left hook around her eye, Rousey covers up as Tate then gets in her grill, swinging in two more left hooks to the body as she presses "Rowdy" onto the ropes, making it hard for Ronda to fight back as she tries to maul her blonde rival.
Pushing back Tate to create space, Ronda can't get too far off the ropes, Miesha catches Ronda to her face to push her back behind her guard, at the bell Miesha raises her right arm in the air as she turns back to her corner, making sure to let everyone know she has won her first round in celebrity boxing.
Round 2:
Stepping back out now warmed up, Ronda starts to plant her feet more as she steps in to sling in more cross punches, Miesha needing to step back to get out the way of them, the brunette firing out jabs to the mouth of Ronda to keep her at range.
But Ronda gets in closer as she dips under a jab to hammer in two short digging punches to the body, then throws an overhand right grazes the top of the her opponent's head as Tate gets her left up in time to take most of the sting out of it.
Ronda has stepped up a gear, wanting to push the rookie boxer Miesha back, making Miesha make mistakes as Ronda drilling punches that snap back her head, Tate able to land some flurries back but she is knocked back by some more precise punches.
Final minute Miesha catches Ronda coming in with a left hook up top, driving back Rousey to the middle of the ring, both fighters body up digging away at the others bodies, hissing as they test each others abs, trying to overpower each other.
At the bell they nudge apart, Ronda raising her right in the air as Miesha stares hateful at her, they turn on their heels back to their corners as the duelling chants ring out, both women getting wiped down as sweat starts to coat their bodies.
Round 3:
Both fighters barking with effort as they exchange at the center, moving in to exchange flurries of punches before moving back, eyes full of fury as their cheeks are getting marked up, the crowd whistling and cheering these top fighters on.
After forty seconds Ronda lands a jab followed by a right cross on the jaw of Miesha, "Cupcake" covering up as Ronda moves in closer, several punches landing on the gloves of Tate, with some finding a home around her guard to the side of her head as Ronda unleashes her anger on her.
An uppercut pops Ronda on the chin to knock her back a step as her head snaps back, now Miesha is firing back as the opening minute is evenly fought, though right now Rousey is being driven onto the ropes, forcing the first clinch of the fight that the referee needs to break up.
Once apart Ronda is quick to step in with a one-two combo into the face of Miesha, leaning her head out the way of a left cross to pop a straight back at Miesha's nose that causes a little blood to run from her left nostril, Miesha wiping it to see that she is bleeding now.
Ronda keeps targeting the nose as they box around the ring, making Miesha hiss out as it is disrupting her flow, allowing Ronda to win the exchanges to the bell, where Ronda is all smiles as she sits on her stool, Miesha getting her nose patched up as she is told to bully Ronda in their exchanges.
Round 4:
There's a few more heated inside exchanges now as Miesha is pushing the tempo up a notch, both nearly clash heads at one point as the fists fly, shoving apart as Ronda misses with a straight aimed predicable at the nose of her opponent, Miesha slips it before stepping in with an uppercut to the body.
Ronda groans out before a left hook lands to her jaw to knock some sweat flying, Tate now doing as she was told, bullying back Rousey into a corner, mixing her punches up well to make it hard for "Rowdy" Ronda to protect herself as the Tate fans yell her on.
Pulling Miesha into a clinch, both can be seen exchanging insults as the referee comes in to split them up, Ronda quick again to pounce in this situation as she lands a straight onto the nose to cause it to trickle again, Miesha trying to stand her ground as they exchange, needing to take a step back at Ronda is peppering that nose to make it drip blood now onto Miesha's chest.
As Rousey tries to keep the heat on Miesha she takes a right into her body, then an overhand left smacks across her jaw to turn her head, Miesha pressing her against the ropes as she bangs away to the body before breaking the guard of the blonde open with an uppercut.
Clinching up again as that definitely hurt Ronda, there's a little dirty boxing with rabbit punches from both as the bell rings to end the round, pushing apart from each other as the referee has to order them twice, Miesha seems to have stopped the rhythm of Ronda that round, but her nose needs to be cleaned up again, annoying her judging by her expression.
Round 5:
Back out they step with eyes locked behind gloves, nearly bumping heads again as they clash on the inside with body shots, uppercuts just miss their target as both want the other out cold tonight, no going to the judges in either of their minds.
With Ronda landing a double jab to the top of Miesha's forehead, she backs up Miesha to the outside of the ring as she comes on strong now, bashing her rival with a one-two combo through her mitts as Tate goes defensive, maybe thinking about her nose.
Again though Ronda is made to miss by Miesha's upper body movement then made to pay, this time with two hooks to the body after she swings in a right hook that finds nothing but air, Miesha then lands an uppercut that isn't flush, it does the job as Rousey backs off.
An overhand right then strikes Ronda across the side of her head, now it's Rousey covering up as she is being knocked back towards the ropes, Tate plugging away to the body with hooks, enjoying hearing Rousey groaning louder with each hit as there is a redness forming around her body at the sides, forcing her to hold on.
Final moments of the round sees both going toe to toe, fans on their feet as they are getting a banger of an opening clash, at the bell both stare venomously at each other, bumping shoulders as they pass by to return to their corners, where they get cleaned up by their coaches, Ronda shaking her head as she can't believe Miesha is giving her such a tough test, her coach telling her to keep her eyes on the ball.
Round 6:
Both smack the other early on with one-two combos as they look for that early control, Miesha moving in closer to thud in two left hooks to the body, taking a jab onto her nose to push her back as it trickles blood once again.
As Miesha tries to keep pushing the pace, she misses with a jab as Ronda steps back out the way, then a left hook catches Miesha onto her temple; that wobbles her legs, something Ronda notices as her straight pounds into that nose to send sweat and blood flying off Tate.
Who is being hammered backwards by Ronda, a left cross turns Miesha's head as she is getting knocked to the ropes, while Miesha is trying to fight back, A RIGHT HOOK TO MIESHA'S JAW IS FOLLOWED BY A LEFT HOOK TO THE CHIN THAT KNOCKS TATE DOWN ONTO HER BACK WITH A THUD!
Ronda raises both arms in the air above her head as she struts to the neutral corner to chants of "Rowdy" from her supporters, 1...2...3... Miesha has her eyes shut as her mouthpiece hangs out her mouth, 4...5...6.. The "Cupcake" chants begin to find their way through the noise, 7...8.. Miesha has barely moved with just turning her head to the right with blood dripping to the canvas, 9...10 it is over!
Winner Ronda Rousey KO Round 6
After:
Ronda makes it three out of three against her biggest rival, mounting the middle rope of the corner she is in, Ronda pounds her chest with her right glove a few times, then raises her arms in the air as she takes in the loud cheers from her fans, there are so boos but they are mostly drowned out.
While Miesha has to be helped by the ringside doctor and her coach, after several tense moments she starts to come around, helped to sit up so they can check her over, understandably Miesha looks disappointed that she still hasn't found a way to defeat Ronda.
The winner looks Miesha's way and just laughs, clearly she has no sympathy for her greatest rival, instead she heads to her corner to hug her coach and get her gloves taken off, Ronda tells them "I should have knocked her out earlier" with the coach just grinning at Ronda's confidence.
Miesha meanwhile is helped out the ring as she still seems shook up by the knockout, she gets a round of applause and whistles from the crowd, Miesha gives them a quick wave to show she is OK, it'll be interesting to see if she has caught the bug for this FCBA boxing or if this was purely a one off.
One thing for sure is that her and Ronda will never hug it out, Ronda not acknowledging Miesha as she just heads to the center of the ring to get her hand raised by the referee, left arm up as she flexes her right with a cheesy grin, a "Rowdy" chant breaks out again as she must feel like it's the good old days in the octagon submitting Miesha.
She poses with both fists raised with a big beaming smile, her coach telling the world "this is the best fighter in the world" which judging by Rousey's expression seems true for her, she blows kisses to her fans before she steps out the ring.
Will we see more of Ronda back with the boxing gloves on or will she purely go back to coaching her rookie fighters at Stacey's Academy, we are guessing there will be plenty of people wanting to knock that smile off her face before long.

While Miesha has to be helped by the ringside doctor and her coach, after several tense moments she starts to come around, helped to sit up so they can check her over, understandably Miesha looks disappointed that she still hasn't found a way to defeat Ronda.
The winner looks Miesha's way and just laughs, clearly she has no sympathy for her greatest rival, instead she heads to her corner to hug her coach and get her gloves taken off, Ronda tells them "I should have knocked her out earlier" with the coach just grinning at Ronda's confidence.
Miesha meanwhile is helped out the ring as she still seems shook up by the knockout, she gets a round of applause and whistles from the crowd, Miesha gives them a quick wave to show she is OK, it'll be interesting to see if she has caught the bug for this FCBA boxing or if this was purely a one off.
One thing for sure is that her and Ronda will never hug it out, Ronda not acknowledging Miesha as she just heads to the center of the ring to get her hand raised by the referee, left arm up as she flexes her right with a cheesy grin, a "Rowdy" chant breaks out again as she must feel like it's the good old days in the octagon submitting Miesha.
She poses with both fists raised with a big beaming smile, her coach telling the world "this is the best fighter in the world" which judging by Rousey's expression seems true for her, she blows kisses to her fans before she steps out the ring.
Will we see more of Ronda back with the boxing gloves on or will she purely go back to coaching her rookie fighters at Stacey's Academy, we are guessing there will be plenty of people wanting to knock that smile off her face before long.
