Form wise Selena is the one coming in hot, she has won four of her last five, Evangeline hasn't won in her last five, which is one of her longer patches in recent years without a win, will the doubts begin over Evangeline or is this just a small blip.
Selena makes sure to tell FCBA Networks Layla Anna-Lee when the reporter speaks to her at the Lioness Club gym that she doesn't doubt Evangeline, saying "yeah I was told by some that this is my best chance to beat her, Evangeline isn't someone to take lightly whatever form she is in" getting a drink of water after finishing up training session.
Selena adds "saying that I am confident of wearing her down, I am physically more impressive, it's time I show my class and I can't think of anyone better to beat to show it" putting the drink down, she taps Layla on her left shoulder before heading off to go change.
While Evangeline didn't say much, just posing on her social media "I am used to being asked the hard questions, I will keep finding answers 💪 #neverdoubtme" for her fans, maybe also to remind herself that she has faced tough times before and come through.
Fight night, first through the curtain comes Selena with coach Eva Mendes beside her, she jogs down the aisle with a cheeky grin as she bangs her red gloves together, eyes locked onto the ring as her fans are chanting her name.
She steps into the ring wearing a white sports bra with red trim, matching trunks and shoes, her hair is tied into a ponytail, she heads to her corner looking focused, Eva telling her to grab this chance and prove she is elite.

Round 1:
Kicking off the action behind their jabs, testing each others reflexes out as they circle at the center, Evangeline the first to go for a big left cross, Selena moving back out of range then lands a straight to the chin of the former champion to show the hand speed Lilly has to worry about.
Opening up more as they are beginning to understand each other, cheeks getting peppered with punches, with Evangeline stepping in more to pound away to the body of her younger rival, getting caught to her face with cross punches to ward her back out.
Half of the round has past with Evangeline slipping a jab to land a right into the chin of Selena, then stepping in close to bang in two hooks under the ribs, Selena finding herself being pressed back by her older rival.
Evangeline making things scruffy as she keeps nudging back Selena to keep her aimed at the ropes, beating her around the chest and body as she is out working Gomez on the inside, Selena trying to fight her way back, getting knocked back to range.
At the bell Evangeline finishes strong to get a smile from Julie, Selena nodding as she returns to her corner, knowing she needs to do better if she is to win this one, Evan telling her to keep cool and box Selena's head off.
Round 2:
Back out their corners quicker this time, trading more punches as they open up, crowd cheering them on as they nearly clash heads, Selena lands two uppercuts to the body of Evangeline to make his hiss, a clubbing left crashes to the side of Gomez's head to turn her head.
Evangeline again is roughing up Selena, aiming punches around her ears now, using her forearms to nudge back Selena off balance, making the singer have to step back and jab to try to keep the older fighter out of her grill.
With Selena herded near the ropes, her body is being tested with short digging shots as she groans with each clean hit, pushing back Evangeline to pound a one-two combo into Lilly's face so she can get away from the ropes.
With a minute to go Selena is starting to put her punches together more fluidly, Evangeline getting caught on her cheeks and lips as Selena lands several two punch combos to knock her back to range, getting her footwork going for the moment.
At the bell it's another solid round for Evangeline, Selena is showing fight though as Eva tells her she wants to see more from her, Evangeline her usual cold expression as she sits down, an unnerving stare aimed at her opponent.

After a much better last round Selena has a renewed spring in her step, exchanging more on the front foot, willing to trade hard shots with Evangeline as neither is holding back on their punches, with sweat flying when they land flush.
Getting in the face of Evangeline, Selena lands two short rights into the abs of Evangeline, a left hits her in the ear as they engage in a little dirty boxing, a few strain punches into kidneys as the opening minute passes by with both barking in effort.
Stepping back from each other a few moments to try something different, Selena lands a swift one-two, AS SHE TRIES TO FOLLOW UP WITH A LEFT CROSS EVANGELINE LEANS OUT THE WAY BEFORE LANDING A COUNTER LEFT HOOK ON THE JAW TO KNOCK SELENA DOWN TO HER LEFT KNEE!

Resuming fighting, Evangeline is throwing more pounding punches, several landing on the cheeks of Selena to make her back off, Gomez happy to see out a disastrous round as the bell rings, Eva coming out her corner to put an arm around her shoulder to tell her it will be OK.

Coming out her corner looking determined not to repeat the last round, Selena is picking her punches more, needing to step around Evangeline, who is aiming some big punches in early, when they didn't land she is switching back to working her way in.
More inside clashes come as Evangeline slips a straight to pound in two left hooks to the body, then a right to the other side, making Selena hiss out as she begins to march her back into a corner, there's marks forming around the body of Selena these constant attacks.

It looks like Evangeline has found the answer as she now steps back on Selena, who misses a looping left cross, instead a counter right pounds onto her jaw to turn her head, with sweat flying off as Evangeline rocks her with it, more pounding punches ram into the face of Selena she somewhat stumbles towards the ropes.

It has been argued Selena lacks that marquee victory to set up her career, well tonight she has a major scalp after an amazing comeback that will be talked about for years, Selena falls to her knees tired but smiling warmly as she looks to the heavens.
Eva rushes into the ring to hug her friend and trainee for years, Selena thanking her for never letting her quit or think of losing, Eva telling her "it's all you Selena" the crowd whistling and applauding her as some just looked stunned.
One is Julie as she steps into the ring, she doesn't say anything to Evangeline as she seems lost for words, instead icing the body up of a thankful Evangeline, who apologizes for throwing this fight away, Julie tells her "nonsense, you were massively unlucky tonight" which her fans will argue as well it seems judging by debates at ringside in the crowd.
Over comes Selena when Evangeline stands up, no words are exchanged but they bump fists in a sign of respect, heading to their corners to be patched up as both need a moment to recover from a hard fought battle of wills.
Once they are ready both return to the center of the ring for the final result to be announced, Evangeline just nods as Selena gets her right hand raised, Gomez chants ring out as Selena is buzzing, so happy to finally win a massive fight in the bantamweight division to show she belongs in that elite club.
While the questions over Evangeline will only increase, she heads out the ring not saying a word as she looks lost in thought, if there's one thing about Evangeline, it's that she has reinvented herself several times in her career, is it time for her to try different things in training etc, to get the results she is used to having.
It's a different story for Selena, who poses for the cameras with a big smile and her hands on her hips, Eva telling the world "this is the fighter to watch, 2021 is Selena Gomez's year" with both women embracing, Selena admitting she is lucky to have Eva in her corner.
