Our reporter and his blonde companion sit watching baseball and basketball at Bazz with Cassandra Lynn Scerbo, Poindexter Del Crunchy, and the Man In The Hat.
Cassie: "Uncle Wiz, I think we have a problem..."
Man In The Hat: "And, this is something you want to discuss in front of the press?"
Cassie (nodding): "Otherwise, we'd have done it in one of our private meetings."
Man In The Hat (smiling): "OK. Just making sure."
Cassie: "I'm not happy with my in-ring performances..."
Man In The Hat: "Well, you've only lost two fights since you started with us, and Coleman and Mendes? Those are good fighters..."
Cassie: "They are. But, I'm BETTER. But, I didn't WIN."
Man In The Hat: "You'll get other chances, Cassandra Lynn. You're an elite flyweight. You can fight with anybody in the division..."
Cassie: "Only, I HAVEN'T been doing that. I've been winning fights, sure, but those have been on talent alone. When I get in there with the better girls, I'm not getting results, and I know WHY."
Man In The Hat: "I'm listening..."
Cassie: "I'm being pulled in too many directions. All the other girls here, all they have to worry about is training and the next fight. I'm doing that, plus broadcasting, plus working in management here. I love all of it, but, for me to fight at the top level, I have to JUST fight."
Pointy: "Which I have been saying for YEARS. And you wonder why the doctor is worried about my BLOOD PRESSURE..."
Man In The Hat: "Well. I'm going to agree with you and Pointy. This is somethin' I've thought about a little..."
Pointy: "And, I've thought about it a LOT..."
Man In The Hat: "It's not fair to you to get in there with a girl who's focused completely on trainin' for you when you're doin' ten other things along with trainin' for her. So, here's what we'll do. Alison has filled in pretty well on Asylum. She's not YOU, but nobody is. She'll do fine there. The management stuff, we've got people who can take that off your hands. We'll spread it around. I'll miss talkin' this stuff with you every day, but, we'll loop you in on the big decisions..."
Cassie (shaking her head): "I don't think so, Uncle Wiz..."
Man In The Hat: "OK. I'm not followin'..."
Pointy: "I am, and this is NUTS..."
Cassie: "What I want to concentrate on is helping to run Front Street. That's my future in the FCBA, management. I'm getting involved in the nuts and bolts of how this place works, and I love every minute of it. And, I love broadcasting Asylum every month. I don't want to give that up. I think it's time to go the other way...and step away from the ring..."
Pointy: "NUTS! ABSOLUTELY NUTS!"
Man In The Hat (shaking his head): "OK, let's hang on now. You're 30 years old, Cassandra Lynn. You got plenty left in the tank. PLENTY..."
Cassie (nodding): "So did Kesha. So did Jane. But, they both stepped into other roles. And, they're both happy in them. I've accomplished plenty in the ring. I won the title. I won a lot of fights and beat a lot of good fighters. It's time for me to move into the next phase of my FCBA career. I want to help OTHER girls win titles for Front Street. I want to help us keep rolling and expanding and making money. I've been fighting eleven years now, 65 fights. I've fought the best in this division, Hayden and Williams and Portman, and I beat all of them. It's time, Uncle Wiz. Imagine what we can do with me in the office full time!"
Man In The Hat (smiling sadly): "Well. It would be impossible to replace you around here, you know that. And, having you in the office 40 hours a week, no distractions? That would, frankly, be awesome..."
Pointy: "Now, Wizardo..."
Man In The Hat: Imagine, if you will, members of the press, that this little meeting were being held in my office at Front Street and you were sitting in front of my desk. Now, turn around. Imagine that back wall with the big screen on it. We're gonna put a door right there. Because, the office next door, which has been empty since we built this office suite, is gonna belong to Cassandra Lynn. As long as she's ABSOLUTELY SURE this is what she wants to do..."
Cassie (smiling): "I'm sure, Uncle Wiz. Let's you and me run this place together. I've got lots of ideas..."
Man In The Hat (smiling): "Of THAT I have no question. But, the first order of business is...how do you want to do this? Retirement match? We could get Hayd, I'm sure. Presser, what?"
Cassie (shaking her head): "This right here. This is it. Let Smackey and Tess break the story. Then, let me get to work in my new role..."
Man In The Hat: "Executive Vice President."
Cassie (grinning): "THAT sounds good..."
Tess: "This is really happening, BFF?"
Cassie (nodding): "It's time. And, who knows, maybe I'll be able to help out our flyweights by getting in the ring and sparring on occasion..."
Man In The Hat: "Oh, that will be a REGULAR thing, I suspect."
Reporter: "I can't believe this..."
Pointy: "Neither can I..."
Cassie: "Well, believe it or not, my final FCBA fight was at Asylum Friday night."
Man In The Hat: "Well. Maybe we aren't gonna make a big announcement, but we ARE gonna celebrate. I'm gonna get Jane and Alison on the line and we're gonna have a party at The Manor. That's the first order of business. The second is pullin' out the short list sheets and meeting with all of management to talk about what to do with our empty roster spot..."
Cassie (grinning): "I have some ideas about that. One particular idea. And, I think you're going to like it!"
Man In The Hat: "I have no question about that, either."
Cassie: "Uncle Wiz, I think we have a problem..."
