Starring:
Jennette McCurdy as Agent June
Victoria Justice as Agent River
The case had gone cold. Agent June was out of leads. She was out of options. Most importantly, she was almost out of time. She didn’t enjoy what had to happen next, but June knew the only person with the information she needed would be Agent River. However, since River was a freelancer and a notorious believer in solo work, June had never been able to get information out of her. When she went to the other TYME Agents with her problem, their response surprised the young blonde.
“Off the book?” asked Agent December. “Put on a mask, beat her ass, and get the info you need out of her.”
Agent April looked a little weary at this information. However, even she had to relent and agree with Agent December.
“She doesn’t like to share,” said April. “Even if you go to talk to her she won’t give it to you. December might be right on this one. But again, if she knows who you are she’ll come after you and the rest of TYME.”
“And she’s the best detective in the game,” said December. “We don’t want her actively trying to bring us down. No matter how clean we keep our fingernails, there’s bound to be something that would bring the FBI or hell even SPA down on us. And we can’t be having that. So don’t let her know you’re with TYME.”
Agent River held up in an apartment on the east riverbank of her hometown. For a secret agent, she really knew how to get off of the grid. Somewhere in some small town of New Hampshire lived one of the most prolific deductive minds in the world. Far away from TYME, SPA, and any other agency who might try to recruit her. They all had her contact info and through some spy-work, these agencies all had her location. A fact that Agent River was most likely aware of, but didn’t contest too much. As long as she didn’t actively work against them and threw them a bone on a case now and then, she’d stay off of their radar. Besides, River typically dealt with issues on a scale smaller than the likes of national agencies would work. She was only one person after all.
So, in her modest apartment she stayed. And in that modest apartment a masked Agent June broke into one night. She figured she could jump the Agent in her bed to quickly extract the information. No need to draw it out into a lengthy fight.
The TYME agent stealthily crept into River’s bedroom. She made sure to avoid the typical trappings of sneaking up on someone. She would very lightly place her foot down to test the spot on the floor to make sure it didn’t make any noise. June had the instincts to know if a part of the floor would squeak just by touch. This of course meant her feet had to be bare, but as far as June knew April had no forensic equipment, so she didn’t have to worry too much about DNA. As long as she slipped in and quickly took River, there would be no trace except for River’s own memory of the event. And June couldn’t think of anyone she would tell.
As Agent June approached the bed, her heartrate increased. It began thumping at the inside of her chest. She took a deep breath, pulled out a rag she had soaked in chloroform and pounced on the lump on the matress!
However, Agent June simply sank into a collection of pillows. As she attempted to scramble off of the bed, she heard the closet door behind her slide open. Before she could turn to face the brunette it was too late. Agent River flung herself across the room, slamming her shoulder into June and toppling her off of the bed. The rag went flying across the room and smacked against a wall before harmlessly dropping to the carpet.
Agent River’s knees clamped around June’s ribs. She brought back her right fist and smashed it across the blonde’s covered face. June was able to react in time to block the second attack and shoot her knees up into the brunette’s back. That gave her the opportunity to slip away under the legs and roll under the bed. She continued to roll until she was on the opposite side of the room. However, when Agent June popped up she saw a furious Agent River mid-climb over the bed.
The brunette once again pounced at Agent June, but this time the blonde had the chance to react. She used River’s momentum against her, opening her arms and shifting her weight to continue the brunette’s direction into the wall. River smacked shoulder-first into it and took a moment to try to recover. Agent June knew she couldn’t allow that, though.
So, the masked agent dove across the room and slide her cat suit clad body across the carpeting toward the wall where the rag had nestled. She felt her fingers wrap around it when she suddenly felt a hand around her left ankle. Agent River had taken the time June gave her to recover, and now began dragging the blonde towards her. June tried to crawl away, but the brunette pounced on her before she could.
Agent River, wearing her brunette hair up as well as a baby blue tank top and navy cotton shorts, clearly had been woken up at some point in the night as Agent June slipped into her apartment. She had gaged the size of her opponent and knew if she could keep her weight down on the smaller frame she could incapacitate them quickly. What she didn’t know however was that her opponent was a fully trained TYME agent. So, as she tried to keep her weight down on June, the TYME agent was able to work at River’s hands to break her hold around the waist. Then, the blonde began pushing herself up and fired an elbow back to River’s jaw.
It connected and she slumped off of June. With her moment in front of her, the agent turned and tried to get the rag over River’s mouth. However, the brunette, now on her back, had snatched June’s wrist and was pushing it with all of her might.
June struggled with Agent River, even grabbing her by the ponytail to try to distract her. But she couldn’t gain any significant ground. The women entangled their legs with one another and soon the brunette found herself able to roll the intruder over. They rolled until finally they hit the wall. River slammed the back of June’s hand against the wall a couple of times before the masked fighter had to drop her weapon. Now it was just the two of them.
They wrestled on the ground, neither one of them able to maintain the top position for long. They rolled around. They squeezed their legs around whatever they could. They threw punches, slaps, headbutts… anything. They dug their claws into one another’s bodies. A few times Agent June’s mask almost slipped off, but she was able to keep it on. This came with its own complications, though as it would often give Agent River an opportunity to counter. June meanwhile made quick work of River’s ponytail, and let the brunette’s hair down. This allowed for multiple occasions where June anchored River’s hair to the floor to gain position. For minutes they grappled around on the floor. So much so that their fight carried them out of the bedroom and into the living room.
Agent River eventually slipped free and tried to go for the kitchen to find a weapon, but Agent June leapt over the kitchen island and sent her two feet crashing into River’s shoulders. The brunette hit the stainless steel fridge and then bounced off of it, dropping to the floor. She tried to get to her feet again, but June grabbed a fistful of hair and began running the brunette forward. She slammed her against the far side wall of the living room. River let out an audible groan of pain. June brought the freelancer’s head back and slammed it into the wall three more times before finally the brunette collapsed onto the floor.
Agent June flipped Agent River around to face her. With her back against the wall and butt on the floor, River looked up at her shorter opponent. She’d never looked taller.
The masked agent stuck her foot out and pressed it into Agent River’s throat. She pushed it deep for a few seconds as the agent’s face turned red. Then she brought the weight off of it.
“Tilly Blithe,” said Agent June. “I know she pulled a job last month with someone and I know you know who. Now talk, or you’re going out cold.”
“That’s what this is all about?” asked Agent River with incredulity. “Tilly Blithe? She pulled that job with Jessica Brixton. Her fingerprints are all over it. She’s been hitting those Brooks stash houses for the last six months. I took one look at the file and knew it was her.”
Agent June had gotten the information she wanted, but she couldn’t help but feel sorry for the way she attained it. For a month she had been hunting down that lead to no end, and Agent River revealed it like it was some sort of trivia fact that everyone knew.
She took her foot off of Agent River and extend her hand.
“I’m sorry for that,” she said, genuinely meaning it. “I just-”
Agent River was not in the mood for an apology. She took June’s hand and brought the blonde toward her. She used the TYME agent’s momentum to slam her face-first into the wall. Now it was Agent June’s turn to collapse onto the floor. The blonde was clearly dazed, which gave River the chance to pin her down. With her knees on June’s shoulders she finally found the perfect opportunity to take off the mask. She slipped it off of June’s face.
“But you…” said River. “You work for TYME. Jesus, why didn’t you just ask me for that info?”
“I didn’t think you’d give it to me,” said June.
“So you decided to try to sneak into my apartment, chloroform me, and then what torture me until I gave you the information you wanted?” asked River.
“Well…” began June.
She was cut off by a backhanded slap by the brunette. Then a front-handed one. Then a backhanded one. Over and over the brunette landed brutally harsh slaps across the blonde’s face. It became clear to June that Agent River wasn’t going to let this go. She got that hint the third slap in. It took until the sixth one for her to realize she needed to escape.
June brought her legs back and then chopped River’s throat between her calves. The brunette was blinded with rage, so it worked very effectively. As River toppled over onto the floor, June attempted to scramble out through the fire escape, but as she got to the window a recovering River pulled her back into the apartment.
“Oh no,” said River. “You’re staying and getting your ass kicked now.”
The TYME agent had no choice but to square up into her fighting stance. River did the same as the two women circled each other in the living room.
They exchanged a few shots. Agent River held her own for a respectable amount of time, but eventually June’s professional training began to overwhelm her. She cut through River’s guard with precise chops and kicks. The brunette found herself forced against the wall once more. She tried to throw a right hook, but June ducked under it and rammed the brunette’s stomach with a knee. It took all of the wind out of her, as River dropped down onto her knees.
“I’m sorry about this,” said June.
The blonde lifted her leg up and then snapped it down, cutting through non-resistant air and crashing down onto the back of River’s head. The kick knocked the free agent out. She laid sprawled across her own floor for hours. Eventually the sun leaked through the apartment windows and shined on River’s snoozing face. White overtook the inside of her eyes and forced her awake. A pounding headache greeted her along with a note left next to her.
It read:
I don’t expect you to forgive me, but you don’t know how terrible I feel about this. I left you a tall glass of water and two aspirin on the kitchen table. Take them, take a hot shower/bath, and then get back into bed for another three hours. You’ll be fine. To show you my regret, I’m going to give you a chance to get even.
321 McCaullster St., Washington DC. Be there next in two weeks at 7pm. It’ll be just you and me. You’ll get your chance at me again.
Sincerely,
Agent June
