TESS VALMORE
Round 4 of the Diamond Tournament went pretty much as expected. The one fight that I missed was Strijd punching out Regan. While I was wrong in the prediction the outcome was no surprise. It was a good win for Strijd and should help her in the rankings. As to Regan, she is beginning to look more and more like a shot fighter. This was her sixth straight loss and in those six fights, she has finished the fifth round only once. She did make to the middle of the sixth against Righetti. This is more than a funk. She has lost eight of her last ten over two years. She Is now 38. I wouldn’t say she is an easy win, but it is obvious that her glory days are over
Utgaard is another who is looking poorly. Her loss to Herrington was her sixth in her last eight. Despite her 26-8 record and being only 26, I would say that she is now on her way to nowhere. This is another fighter whose career is in more than a funk. Her glory days were at Front Street. As soon as she was released by Front Street her fighting ability seems to have gone down the commode. Admittedly she has fought top competition. She needs to drop down the food chain to restart her career. For Herrington, her win should move her up the rankings.
Kostek won a good fight with an eight round KO of Krsmanovic. That win was expected, but Bo didn’t make it easy The win or loss shouldn’t have much effect on their standings in the welter division
Gillan’s win over Damaris Lewis was her eighth straight win. She. Is already in Tractorpull’s top eight. This win probably won’t help her until one of those ahead of her loses. Lewis’s loss is going to cause her to drop as Herrington was one of those close behind.
