TESS VALMORE
If you want to know what happens when a fighter who just lost her champion title meets an opponent who is debuting, watch the tape of this fight. While Knapp did have one good round Lily pounded her into a wreck in the fourth and finished her off in the fifth to nobodies surprise
Ronan pulled off the first upset of the night by beating Emma Watson. The fight was essentially even going into to the sixth. Watson looked like she was finally taking charge in the first minute of the round, but then she missed a blockbuster right and Ronan nailed her with a right to the chin and the fight was over. This was a big upset, but not quite the magnitude of Cierra Ramirez’s win over Michelle Williams in January
Santoro had a just little trouble with Regalado. Samaria actually won the second and third rounds and had Santoro in trouble at the end of the third. That was the highpoint of Regalado’s night as half way though the fourth a powerhouse right cross ended Regalado’s dream of winning
Beckinsale’s fight was a gimme. The only surprise was that is that Elizabeth Banks lasted to the fifth round. Beckinsale has the required number of fights for the Hall Of Fame. but she is still short of the win ratio and has possibly two fights with McCarthy yet to come
While Flair’s bulk seems daunting, she had lost six of her last ten and was not expected to beat Ferguson. The fight was hotly contested with Ferguson scoring a knockdown in the seventh. In the eighth, things went north for Ferguson (remember going south is good, north not so much). In the ninth, a power packed right cross dropped Ferguson like she had been shot and the bout was over. This was a considerable upset and will probably rank in the top ten upsets of the year
