“My my, I didn’t even realise I was getting close to a hundred. Milano of course is a veteran actress in her own right, smiling back from across the table as she explains to reporters why she’s decided to return to the ring.
“Of course, I’m not just here to be Kate’s stepping stone to the Hall of Fame. She called one day and explained what a huge fan she was. I don’t know why people like Jenny have such a low opinion of her, but Kate sounded absolutely sincere and delightful on the phone. One thing led to another, and I guess here we are, and I’m happy to be in a VIX ring tonight: everyone’s been nice and treating me like a queen. I hope they’re not just fattening me up for a sacrifice tonight.”
That last comment draws some laughs from the crowd, but Kate herself immediately waves it off with her own reassurances to the contrary. Ladies are of course from different sides of the Atlantic, and under Cougar rules, this fight won’t be going to the full ten yards. In the ring, Kate looks incredibly fit for her age: in a white t-shirt cut off too early, revealing her toned body complete with red bikini briefs and black gloves. At the other corner, Alyssa stretches in a multi-coloured sports bra and long tights, with white gloves for this contest. Referee waves for the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!
ROUND 1:
Kate definitely is the fighter with the better schedule, hounding Alyssa to the head and body early as she peppers the arms with more jabs. Alyssa takes her sweet time to get back into the groove of the ring, spending the majority of the first round deflecting and blocking, to not much success. Beckinsale manages to land stiff hands to the forehead, the occasional swipe at the tummy, mostly dominating the exchange as she pushes her fellow cougar back to the bell.
ROUND 2:
That painful lost to Dobrev just last month does say a few things: 1) Beckinsale’s definitely not about to win another Bantamweight title belt anytime soon, and 2) McCarthy can suck it for all the Brit cares, as she continues to march towards her 100th fight, regardless of what people think about her competition along the way. Both women exchange fire down the line, mutual sticking of fists into each other’s face, all that botox and injections and caked make-up in danger of falling apart with the constant scraping of leather across cheeks. Alyssa regains her courage as she stands her ground this time, landing a lucky swipe across the Brit’s face in between combos. Kate realises her opponent still has some bite to her as both women retreat and reset for the rest of the round.
ROUND 3:
Mliano back in the groove and lovin’ it, it seems! She takes the offensive, marching forward and stunning Kate with a jab-combo ending in an overhand right that rattles into the Vixen’s arms. Kate pushed back, banged about then from repeated attacks, the Vixen only jabbing back in defense as she struggles to blunt her opponent’s offensive. Beckinsale lands one or two return hands right into Alyssa’s face, but she almost takes twice as many hits along the way as Alyssa remains fired up and ready to clamp down on her foe, regardless of the damage wrought to her. Close round goes back to Milano twice in a row now.
ROUND 4:
Milano comes forward again but both women are looking more tired after pushing themselves these last three rounds. Don’t forget, this here’s a Cougar bout, and round 4 is effectively the 75-percent mark for both women- it’s a miracle on its own that these two are willing to get into the ring and throw punches at each other. Alyssa lands an early one-two to the face but gets SHOCKED in turn as Beckinsale sucks up the pain and DISHES back with a power-cross the mouth! OUCH!! Milano lets out a groan as her face disappears in leather, and suddenly, it’s all downhill for the American actress! Beckinsale gives chase, repeatedly pounding more shots to the face as she knocks the American silly, lefts and rights chasing after until Alyssa simply COLLAPSES to the ground in a daze! Referee starts the count but it’s no use - Alyssa wilting to her back once her butt touches the canvas, and then lies down on the ground till he hits the 10-count! It’s OVER!!

AFTER:
Beckinsale immediately leaves the neutral corner and heads over to help Alyssa up, first kneeling to gauge her condition but then quickly realising that Milano is alive and just in a bad daze on her back. The two women share a brief hug as they congratulate each other on a spectacular performance for Cougars, with Milano heard whispering into the Vixen’s ear, “I’ll be there when you reach 100.”
Kate continues up a different ladder tonight as she scores this win, with yet another legend on her radar as she makes ready for Jennifer Love Hewitt in two weeks’ time. Can she repeat her success? Can she seal her name in history by the end of the year?
