FROM THE SECRET JOURNAL OF BAILEE MADISON
303 Days (I have counted) to October 15,2017 when I turn 18. Nothing to do now but wait and hope I’ll get chance to join the FCBA. I’m 5’6 and think that makes me either a tall flyweight or a mid-range bantam. Guess I’ll have to see what I look like come October.
My summer of interning at Foxfire Boxing was pretty quiet. They told me at least I didn’t rubber balls at suspicious visitors like me predecessor Isabelle Fuhrman liked to. (Note to self: Isabelle has yet to make her FCBA. Do not be like her!). Spent most time filing papers and answering phone. (Beth Harnois still insists on paper copies of everything. So 20th Century!)
I did get the chance to watch training videos in the Foxfire Library when no one was around. Especially liked ones with Hayden Panettiere who debuted at 18!Also got a lecture from Jennifer Garner on “Why Sixteen Year Olds Do Not Belong in a Training Ring”—or something like that. It was good chance to practice my solemn head nodding, while pretending to agree with her.
Hope to be back at Foxfire next summer. Maybe they’ll give me more than lectures this year. And less paper,
Also need to start looking for real management,. Going to a harder than ever if the Free Agent Release we’ve all heard about comes to pass. Still the “New Blood” Tournaments. Maybe then, but it would be nice to have a manager lined up.
Too bad Foxfire already has Willa Holland (though I think they could do better than her). Don’t even get me started about the Pretty little Punchers. I think they are ingrates for turning on Foxfire and, besides, they have more young bantams than The Wannabees have flyweights. Sigh.
So just keep watching, waiting and counting the days. My chance will come (soon!)
