TESS VALMORE
Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it is littered with unflattering comments, cheap shots and unjustified criticism. Last month, I went 32-12 running my total to 2188-661still 77% correct
BELLISARIO/KYLIE JENNER Things haven’t gone particularly well for Bellisario since her championship year of 2017. Since that time she is 7-7. Jenner doesn’t have the talent that her sister does. She is 6-6 for her career and she is a bantam. I have little doubt that Bellisario will win
PIETERSE/CARDI B Pieterse has won three of her last four with wins over Lynch and Lotz. Cardi B. is another of those singers that can’t differentiate herself from the group of present day singers. She has fought twice, winning one. Her loss was to Cuoco a lightweight. I go with Pieterse to pick up the second win of the night for PLP
HENSTRIDGE/HALE Henstridge had a bad 3-7 year in 2019, but she has won her first two bouts this year and she has a 24-15 career record. Hale is the opposite of her opponent. She had a good 4-2 record last year, but lost her first two of the year. She did upset Megan Fox in the April PPV. She now has record of 32-32 The two have fought once before with Hale winning. I have a hunch Hale will repeat
MAISIE WILLIAMS/PANETTIERE Do you know how many in the Archives have the surname of Williams? This one fights in both the BBU and FCBA She has a good 4-2 record. Panettiere is only 30, but she seems to slowing down over the last couple years. No matter. The Hall of Fame member has more than enough to beat Williams
SCODELARIO/LARSON Both are top ten members. Boxing World had Scodelario at four and Larson at six in the last rankings. Scodelario has fought in every PPV this year. She won the first three then lost a title match in April. Larson also lost a title match this year. That was in February. She is now 1-2 for the year after losing to Kosarin in March. I believe that Scodelario will emerge in the winner in a good bout
RHODA/STRIJD Rhoda has been on a roll wining 10 of eleven before losing to Upton in April. Her other loss was to Righetti. StrjidStrijd has a 8-6 record after losing to Hannah Davis in April. She spent her first year, 2017, fighting lightweights. I have no problem predicting that Rhoda will be the victor
VANCAMP/MITCHELL VanCamp is a four time champion, but she has lost five of her last seven. Two of those losses were to top lightweights. Mitchell had a terrible year last year going 1-7. She won her first two bouts this year. I have no idea what has happened to VanCamp, but I will go with her to win
SWIFT/CERNY I don’t think I need elaborate on Swift. Cerny has a 7-5 record after losing to Kendall Jenner in the March PPV. Going from Jenner to Swift is probably not a good idea, particularly since Swift is four inches taller. Come to think of it. it’s a terrible idea Swift will be the winner
OLSEN/GOMEZ Gomez has won eight of her last ten including her first two fights of this year. Her fights have been against middle of the road flyweights. Olsen has been having her problems recently. She is 6-8 in conventional fights since the beginning of last year Her recent win over Lotz was encouraging.enough to make me predict she will beat Gomez
LOWNDES/MERCED THIS IS A MISMATCH. Merced may have a 4-2 record but I just don’t think she is ready for match with someone like Lowndes. The fact the Lowndes is four inches taller than Merced is probably one of the reasons why they made the challenge. Lowndes should have no trouble
CORRIGAN/DEL TORO Corrigan has had eight fights winning six. She got a little overambitious in April taking on Alexis Ren. That didn’t go well. Del Toro has only had two fights which she won. Honestly I don’t have a clue, but let me see which one is blonde. Oh yes, it Corrigan. She will be the winner. You see the most important attribute a fighter can have is being blonde.
LOVATO/A.MICHALKA Lovato is on a 11-5 stretch, but lost her last two fights, one of which was to Winnick. Michalka is 4-6 over her last ten going back to 2017. This is the first time these two have fought despite both being in the FCBA for ten years. I believe Lovato will come out on top
HUDGENS/CABELLO THIS IS A MISMATCH Hudgens had a great 2018 but last year slipped to 8-6 She won her first two bouts this year. She is ranked ninth in the Flyweights. Cabello has a 9-10 record, but has lost four of her last six. Boxing World has her ranked at 66. Sure upsets happen. Just not this time.
PEREGRYM/SAGRA This will be Peregrym’s 97th fight on the way to the Hall Of Fame. She has the wins, just needs the fights. Now almost 37, she is still doing well. She has won ten of her last thirteen. One of those losses was to Sagra last year. Sagra had a fine 2017-2018, but 2019 wasn’t as good as she went 5-5. She lost her first bout of the year and now has lost three straight, all to top ten fighters. Sagra is two inches taller and eleven years younger than Missy. Missy is one of my favorites so I hate to say it, but I think Sagra is going to win
STRAHOVSKI/LIVELY This will be Strahovski’s 98 bout. Like Peregrym she is 37 and has the required number of wins. She just needs fights. She has won eight of her last twelve. Lively has a sporadic record. She held the title in 2016 but since then she has gone 5-7 She has lost her last three, one of those losses being to Strahovski. Yvonne will repeat
UPTON/PALICKI Palicki is a crowd pleasing fighter and a three time champion. two were at lightweight and the most recent, in the welters a couple months ago She fled to the welters to get away from the lightweights. Recent record against welters is 4-1 and against lightweights it’s 0-6. Upton fights at welter, JMDD and the BBU Upton is 8-3 in conventional bouts since the beginning of last year. All three losses were to lightweights. I’m going to have to go with Upton, but the reverse wouldn’t surprise me
VIKANDER/MERCED Something is wrong here. Merced is supposed to fight twice the same night? Face it, she is no Charlize Theron who did it twice. I don’t know which bout will go, Lowndes or Vikander so I have to predict them both.
Merced has a better chance against Vikander, but she won’t win that one either
R.B.SMITH/CHRISLEY Smith is a rather undistinguished lightweight with a 2-5 record. Her two wins were over Pausini. That may tell us something. Chrisley is a newbie. She won her first fight on the April card. She’s a Southern blonde. That means she will win
M.FOX/CHABERT THIS IS A MISMATCH. Fox is 12-5 since the beginning of last year. Two of those losses were to lightweights. Chabert has lost seven of her last eight Boxing World has Fox ranked at eight and Chabert at fifty-seven. Enough said. Fox
E.WATSON/KEEGAN Watson has been very good over the last 2 1/2 years. She has compiled a 24-6 record after losing the title to Holt in April. Keegan is a decent fighter who competes in the FCBA, BBU and JMD. Unfortunately, she has lost five of her last seven. Watson will win
AGDAL/HUNTINGTON-WHITLEY Agdal has won her last seven straight and jumped into the top ten. Huntington-Whitley 4-2 record with her big win being over Mega Fox, where she had a five inch height advantage. I really wish the English would stop using those long hyphenated names. My fingers tend to get weary. I have trouble taking HW seriously Agdal wins
L.COLLINS/DYER Dyer may be from my home town, but I am not impressed. She is 3-3 against average to below average fighters with the exception of Emma Watson, who you will be surprised to know, beat her. She’s over her head once again by taking on Collins who will put her away in, lets say. five
H.FERGUSON/WINDSOR THIS IS A MISMATCH Ferguson is one of those welters who has a fantastic won-loss record until you filter out the JMDD fights. Record is still admirable but no longer spectacular. Great records are for the top five or six welters. The rest of the division is cannon feed. Speaking of cannon feed, we come to Windsor. I don’t think she has a chance
GARNER/FUENTES This bout was proposed for a Cougar Covid 19 relief card. It was moved to this PPV. Fuentes was not a bad fighter, but Garner, as of now, is the second best lightweight to fight in the FCBA, right behind Theron. Who says that? I do. She won’t have any trouble disposing of Fuentes
C.MENDES/RAMIREZ After two winning years, Mendes has slowed down. Since the beginning of last year, she has a 3-5 record, Ramirez billed as a singer. I have never heard of her. I’m probably not the only one. This is her first fight. She will remember little of it. Mendes puts Ramirez away
VANDERVOORT/POMPLUM Vandevoort has been around for twelve years and is, what I term, an average fighter. She has lost eight of her last thirteen and her last four. Pomplum made her debut last year in a match against Jenny Mac. It didn’t go well. She will have no better luck against Vandervoort
WEAVING/H.KING King was terminated by Front Street at the beginning of the year and then signed with Knockout Babes. Sometimes signing a former Front Street member works out, but not usually. King lost her first match under her new stable and has lost three of her last four. Weaving fights across the BBU, ACB and FCBA. She won her first two in the FCBA. She upset Lynch in April. I like Weaving in this one
McCARTHY/E.GILLIES Jenny Mac and I have been getting along great recently, so I will not mention that she is old enough to be my mother. She has been in the FCBA since the beginning and has amassed 67 wins and has been cheated out of 62. She 2-2 for the year with three in conventional fights plus the annual St Patricks Day brawl. Gillies is 22 years younger than Mac and has a 7-6 record, but has lost five of her last six. Mac has probably forgotten more about boxing than Gillies ever knew and that may be a problem. What the hell, my relationship with Mac is more important than any fight, so I predict she will win unless she is cheated out of another fight Figure this prediction out
T.ATKINSON/N.MARTINEZ THIS IS A TERRIBLE MISMATCH I would term it a blatant mismatch, except that Martinez’s manager for some unexplainable reason accepted it. I don’t think he thought this through All of Martinez fights have been at bantam and she has never won one, now she is going to fight at welter? She lost to Eva Mendes twelve years ago and has even lost to Alesha Dixon in the BBU. Is that a indication of her abilities? Martinez almost 36 years old. I know there “can” be an upset, but an upset of the magnitude just doesn’t happen. I’ll take a chance on Atkinson
O.HOLT/D.CAMPBELL For the Flyweight title, Holt won the title in April in a stable war PPV. She has a 16-5 record and has won her last six and eight of her last ten Campbell has a 25-12 record and is 5-5 in her last ten. The two fought once before with Holt winning by KO9 I think Holt will repeat the win and it won’t take nine
KOSARIN/LILLY This will be Lilly’s fourth title defense. She has now won her last nine Kosarin has won seven of her last ten with one of her losses being to Kendall Jenner. In her time, she has beaten some good lightweights. This will be Kosarin’s fourth attempt at the bantam title. She has yet to win. The two have fought twice before with each holding a win. This should be a good fight, but Lilly is one of those fighters I have a difficult time betting against. Lilly will defend her title
REN/? For the lightweight title. I think Ren is the challenger and Either DiDonato or Kendall Jenner will be the champ. Prediction later
.
DECKER/THERON THIS IS A BLATANT MISMATCH Vassago knew this was not the fight that Theron wanted. Most managers would back off. Not Vassago, he persisted and put Lookout in a terrible situation He said “Don’t care about the current numbers” Of course not. He is looking for an easy win’ He very well knows what Theron’s capabilities are now. He should know she hasn’t beaten a much younger fighter in four years and her record against much younger fighters since 2013 is something like 3-19. He mentioned they had fought in 2011, but didn’t bother to say who won. He then referred to Decker as the “21st Century Goddess” It’s a term he may not have invented, in fact he has always been critical of the person who used the term, but now he is very willing to use it. Surely a fighter can have and easy fight now and then or even run of them, but there never should be AN EASY TITLE FIGHT. Well Vassago got his easy title fight. Enjoy it Mr V
REN/DIDONATO Ren won the shot at the title by beating Winstead in the recent FNL Gold Rush PPV. She has now won six straight and has beaten Kendall Jenner twice and Taylor Swift. DiDonato has now won four straight Ren certainly deserves this title shot. It will be DiDonato second title defense. It won’t be her last as she successfully defends her title.
Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it is littered with unflattering comments, cheap shots and unjustified criticism. Last month, I went 32-12 running my total to 2188-661still 77% correct
