TESS VALMORE
The Front Street Tenth Anniversary card is by far the biggest card ever held at the Asylum. The card’s opposition features ten former champions including four Hall Of Fame members
HEWITT/BENNET Hewitt is a former flyweight and bantam champion. She is now 40 years old and her last two fights were at cougar. She won both. Bennet is ranked as the number one contender in the bantam ranks by Boxing World Hewitt comes in at sixty-seven. Including the two cougar bouts, Hewitt has lost nine of her last eleven. In contrast, Bennet has won her last thirteen. I have no doubt that Bennet will win
KREUK/STEWART Kreuk is a three time former flyweight champ with her last title being in 2008. Recently she has lost ten of her last thirteen. Stewart hasn’t been very active since losing the title. She has had only one fight which she won. Would you be surprised if I told you Stewart is three inches taller than Kreuk. The Wiz has correctly stated the most flyweights are between 5’0” and 5’3”. Thats what I call convenient. If Stewart really wanted to fight girls her own size, she could put on a couple pounds and fight at bantam. Sorry Wiz, but as you know Stewart is one of my pet peeves. Stewart will win
NICHOLS/ARTERTON Nichols is a two time lightweight champion. She retired in 2016 after losing two of three to Lima. She lost her first ten bouts and then went 27-19 the rest of her career She is now 40. Arterton has won twelve of her last thirteen and is ranked as the number three lightweight contender. Nichols was always a dangerous fighter. I think she still could be. It is not of the realm of possibility that she could win, but I have to go with Arterton
GARNER/UTGAARD Garner is a ten time lightweight champion and a member of the Hall Of Fame. She is one of the FCBA greats. She is now 47. She has had four fights since 2017 winning three, the last a win over Jeri Ryan in a cougar bout in January. Her one loss was to Taylor Hill who is to fight the GOAT later in the night. Utgaard is 22 years younger and two inches taller. She has something like a 21-1 record. I’m a fan of Garner and have not been impressed with Utgaard regardless of her record. The betting line will favor Utgaard, but I think Garner will pull a surprise.
SHAHI/WINTER Shahi is a former flyweight champion. Now 40, she had a successful career going 26-16. After losing six of her last seven, she retired in 2018. Winter has won thirteen of her last sixteen conventional bouts. She is 22 years younger than Shahi, but is two inches smaller. Winter is ranked at thirteen in the flyweight contenders by Boxing World. Shahi has the edge on experience, but I don’t believe that is going to help her. Winter will win
FISHEL/MUDD This is a bantam JMD bout. I am covering this bout since the Wiz has made it perfectly clear that there will be no humiliation. Electra and the Dollhouse should take a lesson here. Fishel is another Hall Of Fame member. Fishel hasn’t fought in almost a year and has lost her seven. Talk about experience, Mudd has had three fights, while Fishel has been in the ring 229 times. Fishel’s experience is off set by Mudd having a four inch height advantage. This is at JMD and if Fishel can get in close she can win, however I have to go with height. Mudd will win, but it will not be easy
CUTHBERT/REINHART I was surprised to see Cuthbert on this card. As I recall, she wasn’t one of the Wiz’s favorite people. She has had five fights since 2015 winning three and was 1-1 last year. Reinhart is one of my favorite Front Street members (she a blonde) She has had only thirteen fights winning twelve. This is a big test for Reinhart. This is another bout that Front Street could lose, but I will go with Reinhart
McCARTHY/DENNINGS This is hilarious. Mac is supposed to be in the broadcast booth with Cassandra Lynn and me. Obviously she will be leaving us early. Mac had a winning record last year, but lost her first bout of this year to Kosarin. Dennings is the number eight bantam and has won ten of her last thirteen. As I like to remind Mac, she is old enough to be my mother. Mac will leave the broadcast booth early but she won’t be coming back this night. She will be in her dressing room trying to overcome a really bad headache. Dennings will win
BIEL/K.PERRY Biel is another Hall Of Fame member. She retired in September 2018 after losing five of six, four of those losses being to top ten fighters. She returned to win a fight last year. Perry is another Front Street fighter with whom I have personal problems. I was surprised she retained her spot at Front Street in recent stable changes. She was 6-2 last year and won her first fight of this year, all over not so great competition. Biel is another dangerous fighter and Perry will have to be careful. Perry has trouble winning big fights but this is not a big fight as titles are concerned. I would like to see Perry lose, but she should win
THERON/T.HILL There is a back story here. For years, the Wiz refused to have anything to do with the Golden Goddess. He was the first manager to realize that after the Crusade series of fights in 2013, she was no longer the fighter she once was. Her poured all his lightweights at her with the exception of Swan and Decker who had lost to the Goat before they joined Front Street. As a result, Theron has never beaten a Front Street fighter losing all five and never won at the Asylum . Now she goes against Hill who is bigger, heavier and 21 years younger. Hill fought Theron is August 2018 and gave her a terrible beating before KOing her in the seventh. Not only that, but CT will be fighting in the PPV, so she will be fighting two fights in two days, harking back to her glory days. The GOAT is fighting in the cougar division now, but she accepted this bout before that decision was made. She will regret it. This is as close to a gimme that here is on this card Hill makes Front Street 6 Goat 0
