TESS VALMORE
The lightweight bouts went pretty much as expected. Ren beat Clements. Lopilato, a some time bantam, sometime lightweight won over Alonso. In the third bout Agdal won over Gibbs, who was ranked a couple spots higher in Boxing Worlds rankings.
There were two catchweight bouts. Beckinsale, at age 46, proved she is still competitive by beating Nemcova, who had a fine record in the BBU, but had lost her only FCBA fight. The pairing was a little surprising since Nemcova is supposed to be a lightweight/welter. Her only FCBA fight was against Ferguson at welter. I don’t know if this tells more about Beckinsale or more about Nemcova, who had a three inch height advantage. Obviously, Beckinsale is not ready to go cougar, even though she lost to Theron in her first match this year. In the other catchweight bout, Pia Miller beat Megan Fox. Miller had a five inch height advantage which was too much for Fox to overcome
In a welter bout, Krsmanovic got wasted by Ferguson. It’s a good thing this bout was held after the December PPV was scheduled. She was awarded a title bout even though she had a even record. She probably wouldn’t have gotten the title shot had this bout gone before the PPV pairings
Title fights are unusual in stable PPVs, but we had one on this card Lily Collins got a chance to take the title. She didn’t take advantage of it. She lost to Watson by a nine round KO.
