TESS VALMORE
Once again, I present this month’s edition of our much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it may be littered with cheap shot, unjustified criticisms and unflattering comments. In our April predictions I went 37-11 running our total to 1714-514 for a 77% correct ratios
ORRANTIA/STEINFELD Steinfeld comes into this bout with a 10-2 and has lost eight of her last nine. Orrantia comes in with a much better record of 9-7 and has split her last six fights winning three. Steinfeld has one advantage. She is three inches taller. With Steinfeld’s record, her height advantage doesn’t inspire me. Orrantia wins her tenth bout
CERNY/SWANEPOEL Cerny has only had four fights winning two Swanepoel is a veteran of 50 bouts. Unfortunately she lost 31 of them. She has had one fight this year beating Agdal. If you can beat Agdal, you can beat Cerny. She’s also three inches taller. Cerny is looking for an easy win. She won’t get it. Swanepoel wins
GONZALEZ/ZENDAYA Gonzalez has a 9-12 record, but she has fought some pretty good opponents. She hasn’t beaten any of them, but give her credit she is learning the hard way. Looks like this is Zendaya’s first bout of the year. She hasn’t fought the competition that Gonzalez has. She has a 4-4 record with two of her wins being over Amber Heard. The two fought back in 2016 with Gonzalez winning. She will repeat.
N.SCOTT/T.THOMPSON Scott is a refugee from the New Blood tournaments She has one other fight this year in which she beat Fonseca which is no big deal
Thompson had her first fight this year. She lost to Vanessa Hudgens. Not a good choice of first opponent. Scott recently signed with the Consortium. Hawkeye has a good eye for talent. I have to go with Scott
UPTON/BARROS This is a GIMME. This will be Barros first fight. Upton seems to being fed a series of easy wins for some reason Upton whenever she wants
V.HUDGENS/E.CLARKE This will be Hudgens 97th conventional bout. She has enough wins to get into the Hall Of Fame even if she loses the next three conventional fights. This is Clarke’s first FCBA fight of the year. She has been busy advertising for Starbucks. She was 1-2 last year Miss Clarke is a little over ambitious. Hudgens get’s closer to the Hall.
LILLY/SCODELARIO This bout has title shot written all over it. Boxing World has Lilly as the number one contender and Scodelario at four. Scodelario has won five of her last six. the loss being in a title fight. Lilly’s list of victims is more impressive. Lilly wins.
VANTRYB/KANE I have no idea who Vantryb is and as usual don’t care until I see her in the ring. She picked Kane for her first fight. Good choice. I thought Kane retired after getting kicked out of Foxfire. She lost 11 of 12 which is why she was invited to leave Foxfire. She hasn’t had a fight since. It is remarkable Vantryb’s management found her. If Vantryb can’t win this fight, she has no future in the FCBA. Vantryb by a KO. Does a fight end any other way these days
D.R.RUSSELL/O.HOLT This is very close to a GIMME. Russell debuted earlier this year and has won one of two. Her loss was to Dennings at the Asylum. Does an invitation to the Asylum mean anything to you? Holt has won seven of her last ten fighting some pretty good opposition. Russell learns she went a bridge too far.
McADAMS/McCARTHY I would rather not predict this fight because I have to sit next to Jenny at the Asylum broadcasts. McAdams has had her fortieth birthday. She is not the fighter she once was, but has won five of her last seven with victories over some good opponents. Jenny Mac is now 46, but trying to stay busy in the FCBA. She has had eight fights in the last four years winning four. The two have fought twice with McAdams winning both, the last in a title fight by a KO3. I really hate to say this, but to be honest McAdams is going to win
OLSEN/GILLIES Olsen is 6-2 since joining Fates including wins over Claire Holt.Winnick and Lynch. Gillies has 3-4 record over the last three years against not overly impressive opponents. Gillies fights in last three years ended in the Seventh (4) or the fifth (2) win or lose. If Gillies finishes the fifth, she won’t finish the seventh
HENSTRIDGE.D.CAMPBELL Henstridge has a great 2017 winning twelve straight. That was then, this is now. In 2018-19 her record has deteriorated to 6-7, while for the most part facing average fighters. Campbell is much the same. She had a 7-0 year in 2017, but has gone 6-5 since and has lost five of her last six. This is a 50-50 fight. A flip of the coin says Campbell will win
KENDALL JENNER/YUSTMAN This fight could be the main event on most cards. Two top ten lightweights with Jenner holding down the one spot and Yustman at seven. Yustman has won six of her last nine. Jenner is on a 14-3 roll against top lightweights and a couple good welters. Jenner is looking for a title shot. She will have to be careful or Yustman will spoil her plans. That said, I have to with Jenner
RHODA/LAWLEY Rhoda is not exactly small, but now she goes against the Godzilla for the FCBA. Lawley has been around for six years, but hasn’t been active. She has had fourteen fights winning eleven She did beat Lawrence, but lost to the other good fighters she has faced, Freeman, Upton and Moore. Her last win was over Ashley Greene who was nine inches shorter. Rhoda has fought almost all the good welters and had a four fight win streak broken in a loss to Righetti in the March PPV. Rhoda is only three inches shorter. She will beat Lawley
BROOK/DECKER Some seem to think that Brook is still a top welter. She is not. She has had one fight this year and got flattened by Utgaard. I’m surprised that Decker took this fight. She has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Not to worry. Decker will win
KOSARIN/BELLISARIO Now that Dobrev is no longer champ, Kosarin is back on a title hunt. She has won her last three since losing to Dobrev. Boxing World ranks her at three and Bellisario at seven. Bellisario is 4-4 since the beginIng of last year. One of those losses was to Kosarin. Kosarin will repeat
PALICKI/ARTERTON Palicki has won four of her last five against good fighters including Front Street’s Serinda Swan. Arterton has also won four of her last five but her opponents were like Sosa and Mantock. Anyone know who they are?
Palicki is also four inches taller. Palicki will win
MITCHELL/LARSON Mitchell is on a four fight losing streak, but she did beat Lilly not long before that losing streak began. Larson has only had eight fights and won five of them, but has lost to every good fighter she faced. Probably being pushed too fast by management. One of those losses was to Mitchell. As usual, the winner of that bout will repeat
DiDONATO/AGDAL Agdal is another who had a fine 2017. Since then, things haven’t gone so well as she has lost four of her last five. DiDonato has a 5-4 record, but those five wins occurred in her last six bouts. I have to go with DiDonato
SWIFT/SWAN Swift has been in a little funk recently losing three out of her last four. All those losses were to top ten fighters. Swan has lost two of her last five, both to top ten fighters. That’s usual She usually doesn’t fight top ten fighters. Now she is in with Swift. It won’t go well for her. Swift wins
PRINSLOO/FREEMAN Prinsloo has an 8-6 record, which is pretty good for a fighter with less than twenty fights who has already fought five top ten opponents Freeman has won three of her last five, but one was to Flair who shouldn’t even be in the FCBA. Freeman will soon be 37. If she is going to make a run at the title, she needs to start now. I will go with Freeman
WINNICK/HOUGH Winnick has won four of five this year and has dreams of a title shot which is not far fetched. She has achieved her good record by management cleverly selecting opponents who have a name and are not gimmes, but are readily beatable. Hough is a case in point. She has lost all three of her fights this year and hasn’t beaten anyone notable since August of 2014. Winnick wins
E.ROBERTS/HANNRATY Roberts has won three of five this year. Her losses were to Watson and Hudgens, She is 17-3 since the beginning of 2018. Hannratty has lost three of her last five. Hannratty is an average fighter. Roberts will be too much for her
LOPILATO/A.GREENE Lopilato comes in with a 17-5 record and has won four straight. Greene has lost seven of her last eight, yet is ranked four slots higher than Lopilato. Greene has fought some pretty good opponents This, I think, is a 50/50 When in doubt go with the blonde Lopilato walks away with a win
M.FOX/McCORD Another GIMME. McCord has no business fighting Fox. In fact, she has no business in the FCBA. She has lost nine straight and hasn’t won a fight since July 2011. Wonder why management is keeping her around. She does have a three inch height advantage, but it isn’t going to help. A fight simply to pad Fox’s win column
A.LYNCH/LINDSEY MORGAN Another GIMME. Morgan has been around for five years but has never won a fight. Boxing World has Lynch at 22 in the bantams. Where is Morgan? At 235. This is a fight that comes close to one that should be stopped. A blatant play for another fighter to give Lynch a chance to increase her numbers in the W column
KROES/ROHRBACH Kroes is a sometime lightweight, sometime welter with a good recent record against good opponents This will be her first fight this year.. She has lost three of her last four but all losses were to top ten opponents Rohrbach has been in the Tractorpull top ten several times She has lost three of her last four. Two to top ten lightweight and one to a top ten welter I think this is 50-50. The rule is when in doubt go with blonde.. That’s Rohrbach
DOBREV/C.PATTON A GIMME For CW supremacy? Well, this is about boxing and not TV ratings. It’s not even about boxing It’s about cruel punishment to a fighter who doesn’t know better. Dobrev must be pissed about losing the title. Patton is going to suffer for it
M.KELLY/ROBBIE Minka will soon be 39 and I think she is now on the downside. That is not to say she still can’t win fights though She is 2-3 for her last five. Robbie is a member of the dysfunctional Chimera. She has lost four of her last six, but one of her wins was over Frege so you can toss that one out the window. The other win was an impressive win over Ratajkowski. No matter. Kelly will win
ALDRIDGE/MENOUNOS Aldridge broke a three fight losing steak in April PPV and now has a 7-6. A new manager who is looking for win, probably wouldn’t find Menounos. Aldridge’s management has been around long enough to know who the easy marks are. Menounos is one. She will soon be 41 and hasn’t had a fight in almost a year. She had one fight in 2018 which she lost. That was the only fight she had since 2016 She has lost six of her last eight Aldridge won’t disappoint her boss
M.KERR/HOSK This is a GIMME Kerr was once a member of the top ten but has fallen on relatively poor times. She has a 3-5 record since the beginning of 2018 She lost to Ren in a recent VIX card. She needs a win. Look no further than Hosk who has had two fights since coming into the FCBA in 2017 and lost both, the last to Aldridge in the April PPV. I don’t think Hosk is going to win
MORETZ/DONNELLY Moretz isn’t doing to well, having lost five of her last six. She needs a win. Enter Donnelly, who has lost three of four and was introduced to the FCBA by The Wiz and her first two bouts were at the Asylum. Her only win was over Noah Cyrus, who has never won a fight. Moretz should win
KEEGAN/S.GOMEZ Keegan is in a little funk having lost four of her last five. Gomez on the other hand has won three of her last five with losses being to Emma Watson and Lavigne What bothers me is that she also lost to Stella Hudgens last year. The two fought once before with Gomez winning I have a problem here as I kind of like Keegan, but my BFF is good friends with “Gomey” and my room at the Manor will be pudding bombed if I don’t pick Gomez. So be it, Gomez
DAMARIS.LEWIS/G.HADID I see Lewis is a welter and middleweight. Now the middleweight division has been extinct for years so I guess that means she is big. She has had four fights, three of them against Gemma Atkinson who is basically a has been. Lewis won two of the three. If Atkinson is a has been, Hadid is a never was. Why she is still in a stable, I have no idea. Lewis should win this fight
STEWART/PANETTIERE The two have been in the FCBA for nine years and never faced each other. That’s because Stewart made a career of fighting gimmes and if she did fight a good fighter she lost. Recently, she suddenly got on a hot streak and won the title. So now she picks Panettiere for an opponent. Do you thinks she knows that Hayden of only 4-5 in the last two years? Do you think she realizes she is almost six inches taller than Panettiere? Well, I have to tell you, I hope Stewart loses but I have to be realistic, Too much of a height advantage. Stewart will win and I will go out with Smackey and do something desperate like eating a vegan meal.
LOVATO/CHOPRA This will be Lovato first defense. Chopra is not a bad choice. She has won her last six and got the title match by beating Kosarin in the April PPV. Lovato has won her last five conventional bouts. Hawkeye is a one of the best judges of talent around and a good matchmaker. My instinct says go with Chopra to quickly end Lovato’s reign.,So be it
AMBROSIO/SAGRA This will be Ambrosio’s second title defense. I was surprised when she won the title and surprised when she successfully defended it. Now she faces Sagra, who got the title match by beating Ren. I suspect Ambrosio was not very happy when Sagra won as she has already lost to her. Sagra recently lost to Lima who Ambrosio just beat. No matter, I think that Sagra will take the title
T.ATKINSON/RIGHETTI Righetti, why say more
One debut on this card brings the total of new fighters to 37
Once again, I present this month’s edition of our much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it may be littered with cheap shot, unjustified criticisms and unflattering comments. In our April predictions I went 37-11 running our total to 1714-514 for a 77% correct ratios
