Before: Three years ago, when these two met, Aly rode the win to a title shot. Much has changed in those years, most visibly the Ashley is currently a blonde, while Michalka is now a brunette. Nobody is looking here for a challenger here, but it’s still an engaging fight.

R1: Ashley cuts inside, opens up with stubby stick onna forehead, backing Alyson to ropes at the open. Oh, the SOUND of those body blows! Big, beefy thumps like a baseball bat smashing wet clay—Ashley setting her feet and pounding away early. Michalka calm in the pocket, elbows in, bending forward, trying to block as much as possible, Greene adjusts, swinging out wide to bash away in behind the elbows. Aly soaking it up well, slugging back late, Ashley forced into grudging retreat as brunette twists into short, clubbing side to side lefts and rights At the bell it’s Michalka, bouncing tidy punches off Greene’s head and shoulders, but it’s a solid first for the blonde.

R2: Alyson getting down to business: dancing clockwise, jabbing head/body, keeping her distance. Ashley fighting in-kind: her jab's seeking, but she's getting check-jabbed to face en route. Swift, vicious right hands flash back and forth - always missing: both girls bendy, very hard to locate up top. Michalka chips away for points - mature use of the ring, lively legs, educated left hand the hallmarks.

R3: Tasty give and take - girls very calm, fighting shoulder to shoulder midring, keeping their dukes up and banging away in orderly turns. Alyson refusing to shy away from her foe's much ballyhooed abdominals and sturdy ribcage: banging away both dukes in bright, bouncing salvos. Ashley flat footed, elbows in, answering back with short, sharp reprisals: nasty little uppercuts skidding off Michalka's guard; biting little hooks tucked in behind the elbow; cruel chopping rights hacked in above brunette's left hip. Neither girl backing up - fight rotating gently counterclockwise with the natural rhythm of the slugging. Greene throws more, lands more, outworks Aly in a workmanlike third.

R4: Alyson in loose, dancing circles to her left, constantly turning Ashley’s left flank. Easy in and out movement, brunette fading blonde pressure, batting away Greene’s jabs, then getting after her in swatting&swiping bursts. Ashley trying to come forward: constantly punched onto her heels...she's a frazzled beauty, unable to decode Aly's mystery here. All leads to disaster for Greene late: bolo-right uppercut takes her deep to gut, sends her drifting onto the strands, Michalka unleashes whirling assault on ropes. Ashley just covering up, doubles over, rolls to her right side and takes a knee as Aly's fists bounce off tanned blonde body. "Check her, ref!" Michalka quips happily as she's hopping away: Greene glaring back with wounded eyes, rallies before the bell.

R5: Alyson investigates on the inside, finds plenty of fight left in Ashley. Rousing stuff: Michalka digs hooks to waist/pumps jugs in close. Greene bangin' back - her hook finding Aly behind the elbow, and a scooping right hand digging in under left breast. Brutal, non-stop exchanges fill the round bell to bell: Michalka comes away with the point, but Greene righting the ship and keeping the fight alive.

R6: Ashley wading in, loops the big sweeping right off the left foot; swings the sweeping left Alyson driven ropeside. Plenty of heat on Greene's strokes, even when they miss, Michalka pocket boxing - sitting in ropes - dippin' and twistin'. Ash crowding - palming to push shoulders or biceps - then popping hips-right to hurl hooks to ribs. Michalka cute off the ropes - using the left shoulder in Greene's breadbasket to bump her off; using the left elbow to prod or ward off shots. Alyson nipping back slick little right uppercuts in tight: Ashley just belting away with lowered head, thrashing arms. Not pretty, but Greene keeps Michalka pinned down and taking - blonde bangs out more points, scuffing up a pretty brunette in the process.

R7: Jamming one-two hammers through Alyson's defence, jerking her head back: Ashley eases in to snatch her hook against brunette breadbasket. Michalka unable to hold canvas as Greene shoulders her onto the ropes, digging robust right hands up into tenderized ribs. Still leaning atop Aly, Ashley chugs away underneath - stubby arms working to stuff in leather. More stuffing work underneath as Michalka gives up her back, right hip in ropes as Greene feverishly digs in through the left flank. ALYSON GOES DOWN! Ashley backing away as Michalka sits back on haunches, hugging throbbing ribs. Michalka's up at 10, but ref waves it off: that's a thumping KO7 for Ashley Greene!

After: Ashley gambling on a top 20 fighter to break her cold snap, and it pays off this time! Is this the shot in the arm she’s needed, or is this just delaying the inevitable?
