TESS VALMORE
Once again I present this month’s edition of our much ridiculed predictions. As usual it may be littered with cheap shots, unjustified criticisms and unflattering comments. In our March predictions, I went an unremarkable 29-14 running the total to 1677-503 or 77% correct
ORRANTIA/OLSEN Orrantia won her first bout of the year and has a 3-3 record in her last six. Olsen is 4-2 in her last six going 1-1 this year. She lost to Kosarin but beat Lynch. Olsen is slightly taller and has a lot more experience. I will go with Olsen to win
A.GREENE/ALYSON MICHALKA Greene looked to be an average fighter until late 2017. Since then she has lost eight of her last nine. Michalka has a far better record with more experience, but after winning her first bout of the year, still has lost four of her last seven. The kicker here is Michalka in three inches taller. Michalka will win. I could say by a knockout, but that is pretty much meaningless now as everyone wins by a knockout
C.HOLT/RATAJKOWSKI Holt won her first bout of the year beating McAdams after going 2-3 last year. Ratajkowski has already had four bouts his year winning three. She had an impressive win over Mitchell and a disappointing loss to Robbie. Ratajkowski wins
E.TAYLOR/RICKARDS This is Taylor’s second bout of the year after laying off 2018. She lost her first bout to Sophia Bush. Rickards has not been very active having only four fights in the last 15 months. She won two against reasonably good opponents. I think Rickards will win
LINDSEY MORGAN/DEBNAM-CAREY Linsey Morgan has been around since 2014 and has had a grand total of four bouts and lost them all. I have no idea who Debham-Carey is. I don’t remember her and I don’t find her in the archives. Must be a newbie In this situation I usually go with the experienced fighter but in this case she has never won a bout. l will pass
KYLIE JENNER/JOHANSSON There are two K.Jenners in the FCBA. One of them is a great fighter. This isn’t her. Of her nine bouts, five have been at JMD. Her record in conventional bout is 2-2 Johansson has been around for thirteen years and has held three unified titles. She is approaching 35 and appears to have prematurely entered into decline. She has lost seven of her last nine conventional bouts and all three of her JMD fights. I am not sure that Jenner can win this fight but she is three inches taller so I will take a chance on her winning, but i’m not putting any money on it.
E.HENSTRIDGE/GRIMES After a sensational 2017, fights haven’t gone terribly well for Henstridge.. She has lost seven of thirteen and both her fights this year. Grimes, on the other hand, has won seven of her ten bouts, but her opposition was less than stellar. Actually pretty mediocre. I don’t think she is up to Henstridge Henstridge wins her first fight of the year
SCODELARIO/S.MILLER Scodelario had a great 2018 and has won twelve of her last sixteen fights and risen to the number four bantam in Boxing World’s rankings and held the title last year. After a fine 2016, Miller who will be 38 has slowed down a little and has lost five of her last nine. Scodelario is ten years younger and looks to be in her prime. I go with Scodelario
WINNICK/PRESSLY Winnick at the age of 41, when most fighters are retired or badly in decline, has been amazing. She has won 21 of her 26 bouts with a carefully chosen mix of easy and not so easy opponents. Some, including the Wiz and me, have been saying she deserves a title fight. In that regard, this fight is well chosen Pressly is in the Hall Of Fame. She has held seven unified titles, but she is way past her prime, seldom fights, and has lost eight of her last nine bouts in the last six years. Her last win was in 2015 In short, Pressly has the name and the record but her skills have sadly diminished. I won’t go so far as to say this is a gimme, but it is close Winnick will win
V.GARDNER/LARSON Gardner is another Dollhouse boxer who is coming along nicely. She has already won four fights this year and has compiled a 8-4 record against carefully chosen opponents. (Miss Ginny could take lessons) Larson looks to be an average fighter, but has had only seven bouts with opponents a little on the ambitious side for a fighter with her limited experience. Gardner adds another W to her record
PANETTIERE/CHERYL.COLE Panettiere, a Hall Of Fame, member had a three fight win streak broken in a loss to Carter in the March PPV. Cole had an 8-0 last year and is 1 for 2 this year. I don’t believe these two have ever met before. Cole’s the hotter fight at this time. I think she will win
PARRISH/VAYNTRUB Vantrub is a 35 year old newbie. Other than that, I have no idea who she is and don’t care until I see the results in the ring. She’s a member of Global Boxing Syndicate, a new stable that looks a little shaky to me. Her first opponent, you might say is well chosen. Parrish has had ten fight, lost her last nine, hasn’t won since 2014 and hasn’t fought since August 2017. I got to tell you, if Vayntrub can’t win this fight, she should go no further Vayntrub must win
BENOIST/RONAN Benoist looks to be a good, but average fighter. She has an 8-7 record after losing to B. Thorne at the Dollhouse. This will be Ronan’s second fight of the years. She lost the first one to Gardner also at the Dollhouse. She has an over all 3-3 record. I line Benoist in this one.
UPTON/ASHLEY THIS FIGHT SHOULD BE STOPPED. . Ashley has never had a fight. Why is Miss Ginny sacrificing stable members to build up Upton? We all know the horrendous paring she consented to the February PPV. Now she does another. Like the Theron’s February bout, this acceptance doesn’t appear in the challenges. It was apparently accepted in secrecy Wonder why?
BARROS/KRSMANOVIC Barros is another newbie who I don’t know, and as usual, could care less until after her first bout which this one is. Krsmanovic managed to get a title fight last year. Since then it has been downhill as she has lost six of eight. She should be able to beat a newbie
CHOPRA/KOSARIN Chopra is the Consortiums newest fighter and she has been having some success. She has won five straight. Kosarin is a top bantam and has won her last three. Chopra’s last loss happened to be to Kosarin History repeats
PORTMAN/MARA THIS FIGHT SHOULD BE STOPPED. Portman is getting a little long in the tooth and has lost five of her last nine, but Mara is not much younger and has only had five fights, lost them all and her last fight was in August last year at the Asylum. Does that tell you something? This fight is for nothing but to pad Portman’s record
KUNIS/WINTER Kunis, who will soon be 36, is showing signs of going to the downside although still fighting top opponents. Winter has fought three of Kunis’s stablemates beating Kreuk and Portman but losing a title fight to Williams. She will add another Consortium name to her win column
AGDAL/KURYLENKO Agdal seems to be a pretty good welter with a good record, however she seems to be one of those who beats average fighters and loses to the really good ones. Kurylenko seems to have the same problem although she did upset Swift two years ago. Kurylenko is forty. Agdal is 13 years younger. I go with youth
L.COLLINS/KNIGHTLEY Collins is a top flyweight ranked at eleven by Boxing World. She has fought some of the top flyweights and has a fine overall record. Knightley has spent the last five years basically fighting also rans. It will cost her. Lilly will win
GIBBS/T.HILL Gibbs comes in with a 12-4 record and on a three fight win streak. Hill comes in with a 10-3 record with her losses being to Agdal, Righetti and Prinsloo. I think Hill has fought better competition. The two fought once before with Hill winning. She will repeat
LOHAN/SEYDOUX Let’s face it Lohan and I are not friends. She is pretty much of a has been entertainment wise. Her last three movies got a 0, 4 and 22 on RottenTomatoes Her upcoming movie gets a 2.2 on IMDB. Boxing wise she has lost her last four conventional bouts and her last three JMD fights. Seydoux may have more talent and class than Lohan, but she has lost five of her last six. I hate to say this, but I have to go with Lohan
ZENDAYA/HEARD Zendaya re Zendaya Coleman has had eight fights winning four. Heard has had seventeen bouts winning six. Of Zendaya’s four wins two were over Heard. Zendaya will win the third also
BEIL/G.HADID Biel is evidence that when fighters say they are retired, they don’t really mean it. Biel lost six of her last seven. all but one to top fighters. Hadid has lost her last six. One of those was to Biel which was also Biel’s last win. I see no reason why Biel won’t win again
K.KARDASHIAN/FREGE This is hilarious. Two of the worst fighters in the FCBA are going against each other. Kardashian’s 8-22 record is stellar when compared to Frege’s 8-39. Frege has lost her last her last twelve while Kardashian has lost eight of her last eleven. Of course, we are assuming the Kardashian can take off time from posing for Daily Mail paparazzi to show up These two are so bad that it might turn out to be the best fight of the night. Neither of these two are going anywhere so why don’t we have a loser leaves fight? Probably because one recently formed stable had the incredible foresight to sign Kardashian. Well, if you can’t beat Frege you can’t beat anyone. That means Kardashian unbelievably will win
V. HUDGENS/EVIGAN Evigan has a winning record, but she simply is not in Hudgens class as a fighter. The two have fought once before. Hudgens won. Evigan didn’t learn her lesson. She will lose again
LILLY/McADAMS This will be Lilly’s 88th bout and she smells the Hall of Fame She was won her last ten. McAdams is no slouch, but is in a kind of a slump losing five of her last nine. As Lookout pointed out, although the two have been in the FCBA for years, they have never met. Now they will and I think that McAdams will regret it as Lilly continues her drive for the Hall Of Fame
STRAHOVSKI/B.LIVELY Lively was urged to take this fight before Strahovski’s stock could fall further. I don’t think her stock has fallen all that much. She had a six fight win streak broken in a loss to Kendall Jenner. As the Wiz would say there is no shame in losing to Jenner. This is Lively’s first fight of the year after going 4-1 in 2018. It’s not gong to go well for her. Strahovski will win. Is Chimera becoming subsidiary of Lookout? Note Miss Ginny did not make a challenge. She is simply accepting bouts someone else proposes especially Lookout In all fairness she did accept another bout for Lawrence, but it didn’t make the card
SCHERZINGER/PATTON Scherzinger is soon be 41 and is on the downside. Last year she was 2-4 and is 4-9 in last three years. This will be her first fight of the year. Patton has not been particularly impressive. She has lost her last three although to some pretty good talent. I am going to go against my first impression and predict that Patton will win. If she does how long will Mr V stick with Scherzinger?
YUSTMAN/GONZALEZ Yustman is one of those lightweights that if she isn’t in the top ten, she is close. Boxing World has her ranked at ten. Tractorpull dropped her from rankings due to inactivity. That was before her win over a tough Taylor Cole in March. She will probably be back in in the next ranking. Gonzalez’s record is slightly underwater, but she has fought some good fighters. She lost her first bout of the year to Strahovski. Now she goes for Yustman. Is she a glutton for punishment? We shall see, but I fear it is not going to go well for her. Yustman wins
ALDRIDGE/HOSK A blatant challenge for an easy win. Aldridge has a 6-6 record after losing to Gonzalez in March. It was her third fight of the year and her third loss. Hosk has had one fight and that was back in 2017 and she got flattened by Gigi Hadid. That doesn’t look good on her record which will be worse after Aldridge wins her first fight of the year. Mr V taking an easy one to get Aldridge back on track
STRIJD/HUNT A blatant challenge for an easy win, Strijd has a has a 6-4 record after losing to Ireland Baldwin in the March PPV. Hunt has had only one fight which was almost two years ago and she lost it by a sixth round KO This is another fight in which a member of LCA gets an easy fight after losing. It’s all about numbers. Strijd will win
KENDALL JENNER/ WINSTEAD This is a bigger fight for Jenner than it is for Winstead. Jenner has won three in a row after her win over Strahovski. A win over Winstead should get her a title shot. Winstead just lost the title so a win for her won’t get her a rematch. The two have fought twice with each having a win I hate to see either lose, but I believe Jenner will win
RHODA/BROOK Rhoda had a four fight win streak broken in her loss to Righetti in a title match in the March PPV. Brook will soon be forty. She fights in just about any form of fighting. Despite her having a losing record she seems to have a reputation as a dangerous fighter. I think she is over-rated. Rhoda wins
CARTER/STEWART This will be Stewart’s first defense. It’s no secret that she and I are not exactly on speaking terms. This is a big fight for Carter. This will be fight 101 If she wins she will be with a less than a point in win/loss record required. Stewart got hot with a couple big wins and then got the title. I think her title reign ends. Carter will win her fourth title
AMBROSIO/LIMA Ambrosio has won five straight in winning the title. For some reason she just doesn’t strike me as being a long term title holder Lima will soon be 40 and time is against her. This could well be her last chance for another title. She beat Sagra in March. I think she will take the title in April
RIGHETTI/DECKER Once again, you know the drill. I don’t be against Righetti. I don’t care how many defenses she has had and if she’s fighting the 101st Airborne which is stationed about 45 miles North of my home town
Once again I present this month’s edition of our much ridiculed predictions. As usual it may be littered with cheap shots, unjustified criticisms and unflattering comments. In our March predictions, I went an unremarkable 29-14 running the total to 1677-503 or 77% correct
