(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)(Lookout! Boxing vs Vixens)Intro:It comes down to the main event to decide this years International Cup winners, both Team USA and the Rest of the World are tied twos apiece, so Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Watson have to settle this themselves in the TD Garden in Boston.
Vanessa is 30 years old; she stands 5'2 and holds a record of 65 wins, 58 by knockout, with 3 defeats, she is a former 4 time FCBA flyweight champion.
Emma is 28 years old; she stands 5'5 and holds a record of 24 wins, 21 by knockout, with 22 defeats.
On a personal note for these two; Vanessa has won the two times they've fought, the first fight all the way back in 2013 ended in a decision, the second in 2017 ended in a definitive knockout in round 8 for the American.
At the press conference for this event; Vanessa spoke first to the press, wearing a USA flag pattern dress to loud cheers from the crowd, she smiled warmly as she begun her speech to them.
"As you can see I was extremely honoured to get the captaincy role this year, Mary Elizabeth Winstead did a wonder job in winning the cup last year but I am going to do it in more impressive style, I only pick the fittest to match myself as you can see in my team" starts Vanessa as she moves from the podium to twirl, showing off her figure.
After returning to the podium she continues "it's fitting they picked Emma as the captain for the other team, she has been chasing to be as good as I am throughout our careers, she'll always be a loser like her team when faced with American steel" Vanessa smirks as she flexes her right arm to cheers.
She finishes up by turning to Emma to tell her "when that bell rings it's going to be a nightmare for you as I beat your bony ass around the ring and you'll have to explain to your team why they got a loser as their captain" then she struts off to a loud chant of USA!
Emma has to wait a moment as she heads up to the podium wearing a white dress, the crowd do quieten down enough for her to begin speaking.
"I know we are not the popular people here, hell I have fought here amongst you guys most of my career and enjoyed your love, one night of boos won't hurt me" jokes Emma as she winks to the crowd.
She gets serious though as she points at her team, saying "the reason I picked those women is the fact they are a hungry for success, a win in this cup for each of them not only begins them success for the team but also shows the world why they deserve respect, like I have been fighting for since day one!"
Then she turns to Vanessa, telling her "oh and Nessa, I respect your talents but that big mouth of yours is writing checks it can't cash, I am going to enjoy busting you open and standing with the trophy over your knocked out body"
The fighters come together for a few photos, fists raised as they stand face to face, before they turn to face the cameras with smiles, no incident as they are saving the fighting for now.
Fight night; out comes Vanessa first to "Stars and Stripes" she stands with her right hand on her chest at the top of the aisle with coach Julie Benz beside her matching her pose, the two enjoying the loud chant of USA.
Vanessa soon enough begins her march to the ring, she is wearing a red sports bra with USA flag pattern on her trunks "Hudgens" in white on her waistband, white gloves and blue shoes, her hair is in a ponytail.
After stepping into the ring; Vanessa bows to each side of the ring before she heads over to her corner to begin warming up, she is clearly pumped as she yells "bring that bytch out!"
With Emma coming out not long after to no music, just boos as she takes them in her stride, smiling as she heads down the aisle with coach Steve Boyd behind her.
Emma is wearing a blue sports bra with a Union Jack style pattern trunks that have "Watson" in red on the waistband, blue gloves and shoes, while her hair is also in a ponytail.
She climbs into the ring and still gives the fans a few blown kisses, once her eyes turn to Vanessa though she gets deadly serious, staring intensely at her as she moves into her corner.
The referee brings the fighters to the center of the ring, where they quickly go nose to nose, the stare down is electric as the packed Arena is yelling at the top of their lungs.
When asked to touch gloves they slam them together, telling the other sarcastically good luck as they return to their corners, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1:"Ding" at the bell both fighters are up to their toes trading single punches, testing the other out in the opening seconds, while looking for an angle to exploit.
It's Vanessa who finds the first real big punch, slipping a right cross to come inside to land an overhand left over the top, forcing her opponent towards the outside of the ring with follow up body punches.
Emma calmly nudges her back though to open up space to work, catching Hudgens as the American tries to slip back inside.
The Brit is starting to get momentum behind her now, using her reach to dominate the center of the ring after backing up Vanessa with a double jab/right cross combo.
Emma able to limit the charges of her opponent with her punches knocking the head back of Hudgens, who is looking a little puzzled by the movement of Watson.
In the dying seconds of the fight Emma is given a reminder of how dangerous Vanessa can be, slipping a straight punch to land a right to the ribs, followed by an overhand left across the chin just as the bell rings to end the round.
Round 2:Vanessa looks to come out the blocks quicker, dipping down more to make her opponent miss as she looks for better openings to move inside.
Which appear after Emma misses with a jab, the American lands a straight to the body, followed by two hooks to the body, Emma forced to nudge Vanessa back outside.
But Emma is finding herself on the outside of the ring, near the ropes which is not where she wants to be, the two trading more flurries as Vanessa is looking to push the tempo of the fight up a notch.
A right catches Emma across her cheek to knock her onto the ropes, where she is forced to clinch up as Vanessa follows up with another two clean shots to the face.
After the referee breaks them up; Emma is able to get her rhythm going again as she boxes off the back foot, drilling an over keen Hudgens to her face.
With Emma finishing the stronger in the final thirty seconds of the round, even though it was a much better round for Vanessa, Julie isn't happy with what she sees as a lack of respect for her opponent, warning that will bite her if she keeps it up.
Round 3:As the round begins; both are throwing more leather at a time, landing some nice crisp shots through the others defences as they show off their elite skills.
When Vanessa looks to move inside; she is met with a right to the side of her face after Emma sidesteps her, the Brit follows up with another two punches into the face of Vanessa to push her behind her guard.
Emma showing great footwork to control the range, taking mostly glancing shots as she lands hard shots between the gloves of her opponent's to her face.
It is forcing Hudgens to tighten her guard, Watson is being given more freedom now to work which is showing in her work rate now being superior to the Americans.
Late in the round Vanessa manages to deflect a right so she can move inside with a right to the ribs, just missing with an overhand left though as Emma looks to have gotten wise to that trick.
The round ends with Emma jogging back to her corner with a nod from Steve telling her she is doing a good job, across the ring Vanessa gets yelled at by Julie to fight smarter.
Round 4:Emma looks to continue working on the outside, Vanessa though has tightened her guard so the punches aren't landing as cleanly as they once were to the relief of the USA coaches.
It doesn't mean that Vanessa is having an easy time moving to the inside early on in the round, instead she is being kept to the outside by punches landing off the top of her head when she tries to dip down.
A change in attack comes as she starts feinting with the left, making Emma react and opening her up for the real uppercut that knocks her head back.
Vanessa now is inside the pocket; where she works the abs of her opponent to the delight of the crowd, as they watch their girl power Watson onto the ropes.
Again Emma clinches up with Vanessa, clearly part of the game plan to keep Hudgens on the outside, after the referee breaks them up Emma has more room to work.
But Vanessa is keeping in closer range, forcing Emma to trade more with her as she looks to keep the pressure on the taller fighter.
A missed right opens up Emma to an overhand right across her cheek just before the bell as a big warning shot to the Brit, who scowls at Vanessa as she pokes her tongue out at her.
Round 5:This time Vanessa looks to have the bit between her teeth, coming out to fight Emma at the center of the ring, with Emma losing a little discipline after being taunted, leading to the fighters giving the crowd a classic flyweight slugfest.
Vanessa looks to win the exchange with a right to the ribs, followed by a left across her opponent's lips, busting Emma's bottom lip as blood runs down from it.
That seems to waken Emma up from her slugging tenacities as she tries to get the range back where she wants it, stepping back behind a double jab into the face of Hudgens.
Who isn't looking worried about that, she is more focused on keeping on the front foot, cutting the ring off as she herds Watson near a corner, with a straight landing on the blood lips to open up Watson to more shots to her face.
Again though Emma is able to wrestle Vanessa into a clinch, where the two women can be seen grappling as Vanessa isn't happy with the holding tactics.
Once apart Emma is able to land several clean shots to the face of her opponent, whose cheeks are starting to look a little puffy from the clean shots.
Vanessa deflects a jab though as she steps in with a left to the body, a right follows up top to the chin of Emma to turn her head as Vanessa starts to drill her up top.
The round ends with Emma looking frustrated that she is being backed up now by Vanessa, who again taunts her before she returns to her corner, clearly hoping to keep throwing Emma off her game.
Round 6:Again it's Vanessa starting off strong; she's looking to not let Emma think as she forced another fiery exchange to get things going.
Emma is struggle to keep Vanessa fighting on the outside, which is allowing the smaller fight in tight where she looks much more comfortable.
Especially as sweat flies off the body of Watson, whose taking piston like shots from Hudgens as she is being pushed back around the ring.
Till Emma is able to shove Vanessa back with a left to the face, when Vanessa tries to step forwards she is met with a right across her face to make her think twice this time.
Which annoys Julie in the USA corner; she watches Emma start to get some momentum back with her headhunting punches starting to land more cleanly again.
Vanessa shows a terrier like spirit though to keep coming, ducking a left cross to slip inside to land two body shots, an overhand right just misses as Emma leans out the way.
But Vanessa is able to back up her taller opponent again as the round comes to a close, this time Vanessa doesn't get a chance to taunt as Emma gives her a shove, the referee quick to step between them as they exchange insults.
Coaches help to restore order as they return the fighters back to their corners, where Steve tells Emma to stop losing the mental war and start focusing winning the fight in front of her.
Round 7:That talk from Boyd in Emma's corner seems to have helped matters, she looks to be back to boxing with her silky skills again.
She is countering more as Vanessa looks to stay in the face of Emma, Vanessa is doing some damage but taking hard shots to her face to do so.
A right busts open the bottom lip of Vanessa now, who has to shield it as Emma targets it with straight shots that find their way through the mitts of Hudgens.
Who for the first time in several rounds is looking a little weary of moving in close, giving Emma the freedom to move around her while throwing punches at her head.
Vanessa is showing a good defence to block most of the blows as she goes more into her shell, problem is not much is coming back to worry her rival.
With the final seconds of the round seeing Emma feint with a left, then send a right hook around the guard to the side of Hudgens head.
The bell rings with Emma smiling back at Steve as almost a thank you for the pep talk, while Vanessa has Julie warning her to not take her foot off the gas pedal.
Round 8:It definitely looks like Emma has her mojo back as she moves more freely around Vanessa, digging her punches into the puffy cheeks of her opponent to keep her at arms length.
Vanessa does manage to slip under a straight to land to the body with several punches that make Emma wince, Emma shoves her back to get her space back.
Where Emma counters Vanessa with an uppercut as the American dips down, a follow up left smacks Vanessa across her face to back her up.
Suddenly it's Vanessa who is being driven onto the ropes, she covers up as Emma looks to unload on her, most of the punches hit the gloves of Vanessa, the ones that get through snap her head back.
Vanessa now is the one clinching up, Emma pressing her into the ropes while leaning her weight on her in an old trick taller fighters use, the referee is needed to break them apart.
It looks like Vanessa is a little shell shocked by the aggression coming from Emma, who is starting to walk down Hudgens with her punches aimed at the head of the smaller fighter.
The round comes to a close with Vanessa storming back to her corner, upset that she has let the fight turn around, Julie telling her to grab this fight back before it's too late.
Round 9:Emma is looking to keep on top of things now; jabbing to keep Vanessa on the outside as she moves around up on her toes.
While Vanessa is looking for an opening, not as aggressive as she waits patiently for a chance, one she soon gets as she slips a right cross to land a right to the body.
Emma tries to stay in the pocket to ward Vanessa back, the body shots though she eats makes her think twice as she steps back, leaving her open to a right across her lips to make her cry out.
Vanessa now is stepping forwards again; forcing Watson behind her gloves as the American looks to remind her whose boss in this ring, shots snaps the head back of the Brit as she is forced onto the ropes.
Leading to a clinch from Watson; the referee steps in as both take a breath on the others shoulder, the fight is starting to really affect both as they breath harder.
Once apart Emma is able to catch her opponent after stepping out the way of a left hook, slamming a jab/straight combo into the side of Hudgen's face to begin backing her up as seconds tick away in the round.
The round ends with both staring at each other, looks of shock that they haven't been able to wrap this up yet is evident, they soon return to their corners to be cleaned up, eyes locked across the ring as they head into the final round.
Round 10:As the bell rings both fighters are out on the front foot, eyes locked on their rivals set as they step up to trade to a roar from the crowd.
Back and forth they go as sweat flies off them, till Emma steps back out the way of a right cross, countering with a straight/left cross combination.
Emma now begins to drive forwards; knocking Vanessa back onto her heels, Vanessa covering up as best she can as Emma switches her targets up, making it hard for the American to block the punches.
Ending up with Hudgens pulling Watson into a clinch, they wrestle to try to power the other onto the ropes, with the referee struggling to break them up.
They do end up apart with Emma quickly looking to get into the face of her opponent, she gets clipped by a right on her chin, that allows Vanessa to come to the inside to work.
The fighters give the crowd a grandstand finish to the round; slugging it out as they let their hands go till the bell rings to end the round, they fall into a clinch tired and bloodied from the war.
After being separated and cleaned up; the judges scorecards come back, 95-95 on all cards, A DRAW! Technically team USA keep the cup on a draw, both fighters though want sudden death to decided this, which the referee agrees to, so they will continue through rounds till one is knocked out.
Round 11:They start off similar to the last round; planting their feet to trade punches, letting their hands go as sweat and blood is knocked into the air.
Emma looks to try the same trick as before, Vanessa wises up to it as she lands a straight punch on the nose of the Brit, followed by a left hook that turns Watson's head.
The crowd roars as they watch Vanessa back up Emma, punches slam into the face of Emma as a cut opens below the left eye, Emma clinches up with Vanessa.
Again they tiredly rest their heads on each other, the referee steps in to split them up, with Emma quick to land a straight to the top of her opponent's head as she tries to close the gap.
Suddenly it's Emma coming on stronger, backing up Hudgens with straight shots knocking the smaller fighter onto the ropes.
Where Emma goes to throw a right hook; VANESSA DIPS UNDER IT, COUNTERING WITH AN UPPERCUT THAT WOBBLES EMMA, WHO TRIES TO RETREAT BUT IS CAUGHT WITH A THUNDEROUS RIGHT HOOK, EMMA'S GUMSHIELD FLIES OUT AS SHE TURNS TO COLLAPSE ON HER FACE, THE REFEREE CHECKS HER AND RULES SHE IS KNOCKED OUT!
Winner Vanessa Hudgens KO Round 11After:That's a big win for Vanessa! She has sealed the win for team USA as they retain the International Cup, Vanessa falls to her knees crying tears of joy.
The ringside doctor rushes in to help Emma, waking her up with smelling salts, Emma needing a stretcher to leave the ring as she is still badly dazed.
Steve looks worried as he leaves walking alongside Emma, not caring about the trophy but for Emma, she grabs his hand to show she will be OK, making him look relieved as he smiles at her.
Inside the ring Vanessa has been cleaned up, her fellow winners Kiernan Shipka and Brie Larson get into the ring, Brie carrying an American flag that she gives Vanessa, who thanks her for it.
Vanessa holds the flag aloft as the trophy is brought into the ring; Brie and Kiernan hold Vanessa's arms as they stand side by side, enjoying the rousing chant of "USA" from the crowd.
After a victory lap; Vanessa hands the flag off so she can lift up the trophy, she looks close to tears again but she smiles as she looks proud of keeping the trophy.
Each fighter gets a touch of the trophy, kissing it as it is passed around, pundits wondering if the Rest of the World team in future will win this event, they'll get a chance next year in their backyard.
Scoreboard: Team USA 3-2 Team ROW
