TESS VALMORE
Once again, I present this month’s edition of our much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it may be littered with cheap shots, unjustified criticisms and unflattering comments. In the February PPVs, I went a relatively poor 30-16 running our total to 1648-491 remaining at 77% correct.
S.CARTER/PANETTIERE This will be Carter’s 100th fight as she struggles to get into the Hall Of Fame. She won her first fight of the year after going 3-2 last year. Her opponent is already in the Hall OF Fame. Panettiere had a terrible year in 2018, but has already won two bouts this year. Carter is 3 inches taller but almost nine years older. The two have fought twice with each having a win. I am going with Panettiere to win
AGDAL/SWANEPOEL Swanepeol is a little less than an average fighter. She had only one bout last year losing to Swift Since the beginning of last year, Agdal is 3-3 against mostly average competition. I have believe Agdal will win, not because she is that good, but she is better than Swanepoel
M.MOORE/UPTON Upton, who had a gimme fight in the last PPV, draws Moore of whom the best that can be said, is that she is dangerous. Upton will win
VANDERVOORT/R.ROSE Vandervoort has a winning record and has a 3-0 record last year against average competition. Ruby Rose made her debut in January and now has won two bouts. Her last win over Turner was impressive. I think Rose will win this bout also
KLOSS/PALICKI I believe this will be Kloss’s first bout of the year after going 4-2 last year. Palicki lost a title bout in the February PPV. She ended 2018 with wins over Lively, Swift and Swan. Palicki is an unpredictable fighter I think that Kloss will win
E.GILLIES/STEINFELD Gillies has had only one fight in the last two years which she lost. Steinfeld is a bantam who hasn’t done well in the FCBA but has been the victim of over-ambitious scheduling. She has enough to beat Gillies.
J.LAWRENCE/DIDONATO Didonato is on a four fight winning streak after beating Aldridge in January. Lawrence lost her first bout this year after losing her last two of 2018 She really needs to win this fight and she is matched with a fighter she should beat. Lawrence will win .
ROBBIE/BELLISARIO Robbie had a big win over Ratajkowski in January after going 4-6 in 2018. Bellisario had a rough year last year winning three of seven bouts. One of her wins, however was over Robbie. History repeats Bellisario wins
PRINSLOO/LAW Prinsloo won her first bout of the year after going 1-3 last year. Law who used to be a top ten fighter, now has lost her last four although each was to a top ten fighter. She really needs to win this fight. She has a big edge in experience that I think will pay off. Law wins
JOHANSSON/LOWNDES Johansson has lost six of her last eight. It’s obvious that she is no longer the fighter that she once was. I dare not say anything not complimentary to Lowndes other than she may be on shaky ground in her stable. She needs this fight. She will get the win.
YUSTMAN/T.COLE Yustman is a usual top ten fighter. Boxing World has her ranked at twelve probably due to her 5-3 record in which she lost to every ranked opponent Cole has held four titles, but has been on the downside since 2013. According to the Archives, she didn’t fight last year. That’s going to cost her Yustman by a KO
DECKER/REGAN Decker suffered a big setback in her loss to Lawrence in January, but is still ranked at six by Boxing World. I have no idea what has happened to Regan. A few years ago she along with Righetti dominated the welters then she went downhill in 2017. Since that time she has lost six of eight. Decker will win
P.PATTON/J.HUDSON Patton, while having a losing record is well thought of. She has lost three of her last fIve after beating Ryan in January. She is 44 years old. Hudson has had only one fight which she lost. While being a newbie she is not exactly a spring chicken Patton’s experience will be the difference
V.HUDGENS/KRUEK Hudgens has won six of her last eight is ranked at 4 in the flyweights by Boxing World Kruek had a big win over Cheryl Cole in February. The win was impressive, but not enough to make me believe she will beat Hudgens. The two have fought twice before with Hudgens willing both. She will make it three in a row
LILLY/B.THORNE Let’s make this short. I like Lilly, I don’t like Thorne. My emotions get the better of me. Lilly will win (I hope)
LOVATO/M.KELLY Lovato has already won two bouts this year and is on a four fight conventional fight win streak.. Kelly was 2-4 last year and won her first bout of this year beating Winnick The two have not fought before. I go with Lovato
STRAHOVSKI/K.JENNER This is a big bout. It has title shot written all over it. Two top lightweights. I like them both. The two fought once before with Strahovski taking the title from Jenner last year. One is blonde and one isn’t. I have to go with the blonde
HALE/MAISIE WILLIAMS Williams has had four fight in the FCBA winning three over average fighters. Hale has been in funk losing six of eight before beating Mendes in February. Hale has too much experience Hale wins
PORTMAN/MENDES Mendes is looking like she may be a comer. Portman lo at the age of 38, is slowing down Mendes, however, has lost her last three. Portman has lost 2 of her last three. Portman, however, has faced far better competition. Portman’s experience will be the difference. Portman will win
T.ATKINSON/KOSTEK A top welter bout. Boxing World has Atkinson at three and Kostek at four. Tractorpull’s ranking coming out soon has both in the top ten, but in a different order. Atkinson has won 11 of her last 14. Kostek has won seven of her eleven bouts Atkinson beat Lawrence on the February card, while Kostek lost to Rhoda. A win would get Kostek a title shot. Unfortunately for her her chance will be delayed as Atkinson will win
WOLL/K.KARDASHIAN Kardashian has had seven bouts, four of them on FNL cards. She has a 3-3 record but hasn’t fought since December 2017. Woll in a newbie who has lost both of her bouts so far, both to top ten fighters. She is also blonde. That’s the decider. Woll will win
D.RYAN/M.CYRUS Ryan hasn’t been very active. She had one bout in 2017 and one bout last year. She also has had one bout this year which she lost. Cyrus has had two bouts losing one but has more experience against better fighters that will serve her well Cyrus by a KO
RATAJKOWSKI/VIKANDER Ratajkowski is a top twenty bantam. Vikander comes in at forty. Recently most of her fights have been at flyweight. I have to go with Ratajkowski
LOPILATO/ALBA This fight should be stopped. Last PPV, we had the deplorable mismatch between Upton and Theron who was betrayed by her management. This fight is equal to that, if not worse. This is total blatant play for an easy win. I’m a fan of Caspian and VIX, but he has gone to far this time. Lopilato has a 16-5 record and is ranked at 30 in the bantams. In challenging Alba, he mentioned she was a two time champion, well her last championship was ten years ago She is now almost 38. She has lost her last twelve. When was her last win? August 2014. Where is she ranked? Boxing World says 153, 123 slots below Lopilato. Caspian is well aware of her shortcomings since Alba’s last three bouts have been on VIX cards. You have to wonder about Alba’s management. Why is she still fighting? Why does he continue to send into defeats. It obvious, she is no longer competitive. I guess a manager can always claim there is a chance of an upset. That is by in large is BS. The Upton/Theron bout and this one make a mockery of the FCBA. So do you really think I am going to predict a Alba win? No chance
It seems that in the rush to have big cards, we are having quantity and sacrificing quality. The Commissioner has the authority to stop matches, but he has been hesitant to use the authority for obvious reasons. The managers should get together and assure him there will be no blowback if she stops a fight
GIBBS/PALVIN Gibbs broke in last year with a 8-2 record in conventional bouts. This year she is 2-1 after her win over Aldridge in February. Palvin has a winning record, but it’s not as good as Gibbs’, but she has fought better competition. She lost her first bout this year to Strahovski, I think this is a 50/50 fight. It’s time to flip a coin. Comes up Gibbs
GONZALES/ALDRIDGE Gonzales appears to an average fighter. She lost her first bout of the year to Strahovski after going 3-3 last year. Aldridge looks to be a good lightweight, but she has lost her first two bouts of the year. She was 5-2 last year with one of her losses being to Gonzales. Aldridge will get revenge by emerging the victor in this bout.
LIMA/SAGRA This is another bout that could have title shot implications. Boxing World has Lima ranked at three and Sagra at seven. Despite the rankings I like Sagra in this bout She has beaten Lima once. She will do it again
PAUSINI/SCODELARIO This is another fight that shouldn’t be allowed to go. Pausini. Pausini is 45 and has never won a FCBA fight, losing all eight. She even lost to Frege in the BBU. Does that five you an idea of her competence?
Scodelario was 10-2 last year the held the title. This year she is 1-1 so far losing to Kosarin. Scodelario should have no trouble in this bout.
K.STEWART/M.WILLIAMS For the flyweight title, It’s well known that Stewart and I aren’t good friends. She is the most babied boxer in the FCBA. She has, however gotten suddenly hot and was awarded a title shot. This will be Williams seventh defense. I have to agree with Mr V who is not exactly one of my admirers. It’s time for Williams to lose. The odds are against her going any further. I have to go with Stewart to win while is on a hot streak
DOBREV/BUSH For the bantam title Bush is on a four fight win streak, but her opponents are not overly strong. Dobrev is on an eight fight conventional fight win streak and this will be her fourth defense. She will have more as she turns back Bush
WINSTEAD/AMBROSIO For the lightweight title. Winstead had a seven fight win streak broken in her loss to the welter champ Righetti in January. She turned back Palicki in February. This will be her fifth defense. This will be Ambrosio’s first attempt at a title. The title shot is probably overdue. Unfortunately she is meeting the wrong champion. Winstead will retain the title
RIGHETTI/H.FERGUSON For the welter title You know the drill I just don’t bet against Righetti. I don’t care who she is fighting.
Once again, I present this month’s edition of our much ridiculed predictions. As usual, it may be littered with cheap shots, unjustified criticisms and unflattering comments. In the February PPVs, I went a relatively poor 30-16 running our total to 1648-491 remaining at 77% correct.
