TESS VALMORE
Theron’s first recorded match happened on February 4, 1999. In fact, she fought twice that day losing the first and winning the second. Her debut was as part of the Kim’s Krushers stable. While Miss Ginny was associated with the stable, it was well known that Kim made most of the matching decisions.
Charlize was in that stable until January 31,2010 when Kim’s Krushers was forcibly closed by the Commissioner. At that time, CT was declared retired.
Under Kims Krushers, CT had a won loss record of 210-83 which is a 72% win ratio. Along the way, including 1999, she racked up some 30 titles in four weight classes.
Ginny’s Academy was formed on July 11, 2010, with CT as part of the stable Since that time, she has a won loss record of 40-27, which is a 59% win record. During that time she won only one title
Since moving from Kim’s Krushers to Ginny’s Academy and Chimera, CT’s win/loss percentage dropped from 72% to 59% a drop of 13 percentage points. In the eleven years at Kim’s Krushers, Theron won 30 titles. In the five years under Ginny’s Academy and successor, she has had one. Why the difference? It's who is doing the matchmaking.
The above comparison between the Krushers and the Academy puts the best face on the Academy. The first two years under the Academy went very well as she won 15 of 20 fights. During those years the matchmaking was respectable CT’s career started south in 2012 when Miss Ginny made the disastrous decision to put CT in the Welter Crusade. a series of bouts in which in which she would have no control over who she fought, when she fought them and no control of the order in which she fought them. She ended winning 50% of the contests which Blonde Magazine termed a “remarkable achievement” (by the way her first win in the tournament was over one Kate Upton) That tournament marked the start of CT’s decline. In the five years, since the Crusade, she has had only one winning year. In the last two years, she has lost nine of thirteen. Every loss during that time was to a much younger top ten fighter except one and that was to a younger, heavier wrestler. On May 26, 2017, CT suffered devastating KO at the hand of Kloss After that fight it was said “Clearly the days of Theron thinking she can handle top welterweights are gone and many think she can no longer compete with top lightweight either” Since that time Miss Ginny has had her face Torv, Kendall Jenner, Sagra, Hill and Upton. She lost all of them. She did upset Kosarin who happens to be bantam. Her wins were over average fighters.
CT can still win in the FCBA. There are numerous fighters she has a reasonable chance of beating. One respected pundit said her performance against Upton “suggests she still has a life or two in this league”. She can still add to her incredible records with decent matchmaking. I had high hopes that is where Miss Ginny was going when she scheduled a match with Beckinsale. I was shocked when I saw her scheduled to fight Upton. She performed well, but lost. Moral victories don’t count
I hope that Miss Ginny keeps the GOAT fighting, but only fighting in bouts in which she has a reasonable chance of winning rather than being a sacrificial victim
OOC As an aside, in the opening scene of Atomic Blonde, CT is shown taking bath in ice water. She shows a very muscular back. I wondered if that was really her or a double. That was answered last night when she wore that backless dress. Comments were made about her “ripped” muscular back. Yes, that was really her in the ice bath. She credited it to the month’s of fighting training she went through for the movie. Upton wouldn’t really want to meet her a dark alley
