2. Keira Knightley vs AnnaLynne McCord (Bantamweight)
Keira:
(33, 5’7, 18:27:2 FCBA, Free Agent)

AnnaLynne:
(31, 5’8, 7:16 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)

BEFORE:
Ms Knightley might still be stableless after the collapse of Mirage Boxing at the end of 2017, but for a free agent, she’s been blessed with more activity than others in the past year alone. Hopefully, of course, 2019 will treat her as well, and things already looking rosy with a January match-up against AnnaLynne McCord.
“I’ve been trying my best to keep active,” the Brit actress smiling backstage as she talks to reporters and fans alike. “My movie career is still going strong, as I’m thankful for. But I don’t want to give up this boxing thing either. AnnaLynne’s had a tough year herself, and we both have something to prove tonight. For me, it’s to show everyone that I still have some fight still left in me.”
Keira ending with a small smile at the cheers of her fans from the back of the room. Clearly this woman has the backing of a loyal legion of fanboys who grew up watching her fight skeletons and wear pirate hats. AnnaLynne is seated at the other end of the press table, curling her lips into a smirk after listening to Keira.
“One thing we do have in common, Keira, is our not-so-stellar win-loss records,” the blonde begins, drawing some uneasy laughter from the crowd. “But let’s get one obvious difference out of the way: I’ve had the backing of The Fighting Academy for OVER ten years now, whereas you’ve been handed from one stable to the next, before finding yourself homeless. That’s going to make all the difference in the world.”
Girls cordial at the podium later despite their not-so-pleasantries exchanged earlier, even shaking hands and wishing each other the best of luck in the ring later. I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been humbled in some way over the course of your career: you realise that your pride is the only thing standing in the way of your greatness.
In the ring, Keira in white sports bra and tights, doing final checks on her royal navy blue leather gloves. AnnaLynne wearing a similar outfit, but in different shades, bunching together a pair of reds as she comes forward in a black sports bra and traditional boxing trunks. Well, HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!
ROUND 1:
AnnaLynne giving the Brit some trouble early, dominating with a quick exchange of jabs as both girls get hungry and get in close to start. But AnnaLynne landing that right jab more often into the face, scoring hits and points that are beginning to stack up from Keira’s reluctance to retreat. Knightley trying to even the score with her own snappy jabs into McCord’s nose, but her opponent’s made of sterner stuff, just jams lefts and rights back tenfold, making painful grunts and noticeable winces as Keira’s left hanging out in the cold. But ultimately, both women showing incredible resilience to pain here, taking turns pushing each other backwards before surging forward again, though we’re going to go with AnnaLynne with a slight lead for this opening round.
ROUND 2:
We’re interested to see how these two ladies match against each other - both are relatively of the same age, height and built, though Knightley has been known for those superwoman bouts of power that she uses to blow her foes off their feet. Before she can get there, however, she will have to get through AnnaLynne’s defences, which are actually her offensive jabs at a rapid pace in order to dissuade Keira’s advance. It seems to work again, with Keira spooked and unwilling to brave the thicket of punches on her way to get in close enough to brawl. The end result is Knightley getting tagged on the cheek repeatedly in trying to get within range, with AnnaLynne left grinning at her handiwork as she takes the second round comfortably for herself. Plenty to smile about if we were also in her shoes, leaving her opponent fumbling in the dark and at a loss.
ROUND 3:
Finally Keira begins to switch up her strategy, though it’s still gonna be a hard slog to get back into the lead. She’s trying to get comfortable with AnnaLynne’s neverending barrage of jabs thrown at her, paying more attention to her guard and taking them steadily, and of course trying not to panic. It’s not that easy you know with the blonde’s aggression making any lesser woman cut her losses, turn tail and run. But not Keira, who calmly takes another combination to her forearms, before STUNNING the blonde straight on the nose with an overhand right push, and this pattern just repeats itself over and over for the rest of the round, with Knightley able to predict what’s the best time to score more fists to the face. Knightley may have stemmed some of the bleeding here, but can she push on?
ROUND 4:
AnnaLynne left with a reddened nose at the end of the last round, and now still blinking back tears as she leaves her corner a little slower than before. Keira’s turn to stalk around and about her, jabbing tentatively at her head, then the torso, before she’s forced to cover up from another surge of activity from McCord, who seems to be sticking to her strategy of blitz and awe for now. Knightley not troubled, takes a couple more swipes at her body before she goes up high yet again, rocking her in the final minute with a powerful cross to the mouth, then chasing her back to whence she came from with more long jabs sent in. AnnaLynne’s looking like she’s the one being unravelled bit by bit as she starts losing her confidence once she starts to take damage.
ROUND 5:
All Keira needs to do is remain calm and not get riled up in the same way… although AnnaLynne is determined to stake her comeback. Blonde actress flings herself forward after an attempted feint towards one of Keira’s sides, hounding her with a flurry of jabs. But Keira saw it coming a mile away, absorbs the shots quite easily then immediately ROCKING the actress with a right hook to the jawline. Another uppercut LIFTS her off her feet as it connects with her chin! DOWN McCord goes onto her back, with barely a minute into this round! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Keira Knightley!
AnnaLynne groaning with her eyes squeezed shut as she squirms on the floor, doesn’t look like she’s capable of getting back up in time for tea and crumpets. Keira with a wry smile as she steps over the fallen girl, raising a hand in self-victory to assure her fans. And what a victory it is! Referee hits the count of 10 and AnnaLynne’s still flat on her back and making unintelligible sounds! It’s over!!
Official Decision: Keira Knightley defeats Annalynne McCord via KO5!
AFTER:
Another impressive victory for Ms Knightley, who starts the year with good fortune and hopefully even better prospects throughout - it’s not everyday a free agent manages to beat a stabled fighter by the round of five!
Keira’s grin now breaks its restraints and she’s positively beams at the audience, completely ignoring her fallen opponent who’s sputtering to even sit up in her corner. AnnaLynne’s troubles continue into 2019, and she will need to choose her next opponent very wisely if she hopes to stage a comeback for herself in the future.
