It's starting to look like an action-packed beginning to this new year!
On January 19 (next Saturday), VIX heads to The Forum @ Inglewood California in a showcase of some of the best Bantamweights in the business.
An iconic house of boxing in the late 1980s and 90s, it has showcased bouts like the Banke-Zaragoza wars, Gonzalez verus Sorjaturong and McKinney (not *that* McKinney) versus Barrera. Next weekend, we certainly hope to showcase more classic match-ups that we hope will go down in history as well!
Special thanks goes to The Fighting Academy, Lookout! Boxing, Mirage Boxing and Chimera for their participation in this event.
On the official fight card:
1. Alicia Vikander vs Melia Kreiling (Bantamweight)
Alicia:
(30, 5’5, 8:6 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)
Melia:
(28, 5’7, 1:0 FCBA, Free Agent)
PREAMBLE:
Alicia Vikander must be thanking her lucky stars this past year at having more fights than usual, and she starts off 2019 with another soft landing. Melia Kreiling having put away Emily Wickersham in convincing fashion, though still 1-0 on the record books. This is the perfect opening fight for the evening and one which the scouting agents will certainly be sitting up to take notice of who comes out on top.
2. Keira Knightley vs AnnaLynne McCord (Bantamweight)
Keira:
(33, 5’7, 18:27:2 FCBA, Mirage Boxing)
AnnaLynne:
(31, 5’8, 7:16 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)
PREAMBLE:
Ms Knightley also having quite a decent run in 2018, defeating opponents like Ley Seydoux and Jordana Brewster. By contrast, AnnaLynne having a spotty fight season, and both women look set to claw their way back into positive win-loss ratio territory with this next fight.
3. Emily Ratajkowski vs Margot Robbie (Bantamweight)
Emily:
(27, 5’7, 18:10 FCBA, VIXENs)
Margot:
(28, 5’6, 20:14 FCBA, Chimera)
PREMABLE:
The only Vixen fighting on the card, and in the only one that matters: not many have made it past Margot Robbie, a Bantamweight contender for the crown in her own right. Can Emily secure her place in the top ten of this division, or will Robbie simply prove that actresses rule over skimpy models in tight clothing?
4. Jessica Alba vs Elisha Cuthbert (Bantamweight)
Jessica:
(37, 5’7, 52:65:4 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)
Elisha:
(36, 5’3, 57:58:3, Lookout! Boxing)
PREAMBLE:
Correct us if we’re wrong, but these two have had an awesome history of facing off against each other. They’ve fought seven bouts total, with Jessica coming out with a close 4-3 edge against Elisha with an overall tally. The last time these two clashed was in 2011, so I’d say we’re long overdue for a rematch!
5. Kate Beckinsale vs Charlize Theron (Bantamweight)
Kate:
(45, 5’7, 43:31:3 FCBA, Empire Boxing)
Charlize:
(43, 5’10, 246:112:12 FCBA, Chimera)
PREAMBLE:
Our Main-event sees legendary fighters in the limelight, where they belong, with Kate and Charlize set to clash for the third time in their long careers. Their ONLY two fights were back in 2004, with each woman winning one apiece. Since then, Ms Theron has certainly surged ahead and carved her own path to the Hall of Fame, and small wonder why Beckinsale hasn’t done the same. Join us to find out which fighter is truly the GOAT.
