Our reporter and his blonde companion sit in the Man In The Hat's office at Front Street.
Reporter: "Great trip to the Rose Bowl I'm betting, Wiz..."
Man In The Hat: "It was a lot of fun. Haven't been in a while."
Reporter: "How about that beach card?"
Man In The Hat: "Now, that was FUN. No surprise. Those cards always are, and some of those fights, especially Atkinson/Ferguson, were great stuff."
Tess: "I hear you're sitting out the January PPV..."
Man In The Hat: "That's correct. We'll be back on the card in February, assuming we get some challenges, but, we won't be involved in the January event."
Reporter: "While you were gone, the next FNL card went up and it looks like the 'New Blood' tournaments are back."
Man In The Hat: "I'm glad of it. Those tournaments are a great way to get publicity for new fighters. And the FNL cards are some of my favorite events. The FCBA is in great shape right now, and it's in great shape because we have so many strong stables with excellent managers. Girls Friday is one of those stables."
Tess: "Looks like that card will have an eliminator between Fox and Hudgens for the next flyweight title shot..."
Man In The Hat: "It'll be a great fight and those two are both deservin'."
Tess: "What about you? Looking to push for any title shots at the moment?
Man In The Hat: "We are not. We had a rough year when it came to those fights in 2018. Time to take a step back, do some other things. And, that's what we'll do for the moment."
Reporter: "While you were gone, Chimera reorganized."
Man In The Hat: "I noticed that. Some interesting names now on the free agent market, what with Chimera's changes and Punchaholics going dark."
Tess: "What I want to know is what you thought of Chimera's SIGNINGS..."
Man In The Hat: "Woll was a great signing. That girl can fight, no question. She'll win fights for them. Ashley's a girl with potential, but, she's a Michigan fan, so, we can't have THAT. Davis and Baldwin just need work. They've got the talent. Mellor's got the physicals you want. If she gets work, she'll win for them."
Reporter: "You mentioned interesting free agents..."
Man In The Hat: "Sure. Lohan's a champion. It's IN there. Somebody may try to get it out again. Hewitt's still a draw and can still hit. Azalea is a talented, physical welter and THOSE don't fall out of trees. Nigri's been top ten already. You'd think somebody'd be interested there. Add in Popplewell and Acker from Punchaholics, and they both have talent, and, yeah. Some interesting names."
Reporter: "But. Not to YOU, because you just reupped the entire stable for 2019."
Man In The Hat: "Our plan, as we sit here, is to go with the 14 ladies we have, yes. We won't get any bigger, so that means we can't add without subtracting."
Reporter: "There's a name you didn't mention. And, one that I'd think YOU would find interesting..."
Tess (smiling): "I can't WAIT to see where this is going..."
Reporter: "You like physical girls who are big for the weight. And, one of the biggest, most physical girls in the FCBA is now available. In a division where you've had very limited success."
Man In The Hat (shaking his head): "You're talking about Lawley. And, I can see where you're coming from. IF we had some space and IF we were planning to beat our heads off the wall of the welterweight title again sometime soon, yeah. She'd be a fit. She's only 29 and she has every physical you could want. She could EASILY be welter champion. But. We're going another way. Maybe we're makin' a mistake. But. That's what we're doing. On the OTHER hand, you can NOT make a mistake when Chef does his special shrimp and lobster pot..."
Tess: "Let's GO!"
