(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)(Lioness Club of America vs Lookout! Boxing)Intro:The main event of this months Fight Night Live in Madison Square Garden sees Odette Yustman take on Yvonne Strahovski for the fourth time in their careers in this long feud.
Odette is 33 years old; stands 5'8 ½ and holds a record of 38 wins, 31 by knockout and 20 defeats with 1 draw, she is a former FCBA lightweight champion and a former Queen of the Ice Hotel.
Yvonne is 36 years old; stands 5'9 and holds a record of 56 wins, 42 by knockout and 28 defeats, she is a former 5 time FCBA lightweight champion.
These two first fought on Christmas day in 2009, Yvonne won that one and would win the next fight, but Odette won the last fight between them to become the lightweight champion and half the deficit to the Aussie.
The two fighters met face to face at the press event for this PPV, with both getting right up into the others face with eyes that seemed to say "try me" before they turn and head off to their tables when the photographers have enough photos of them.
Odette is the first to be asked about her and Yvonne's long and storied relationship, she replies "well I have always heard Yvonne claim I was overrated since day 1 we met, so even when we became costars I have to say I hate her guts"
"Same here" interrupts Yvonne as Odette gives her a death stare and says "that's why I hate her, I have earned respect on sets and in that ring over my entire career, to be put down by a jealous bytch like you is simply boring now"
Yvonne smirks and replies "I've never put you down for the count yet but I am after changing that fact soon" Odette nearly tossing her mic down as she looks pissed off.
Odette asks Yvonne why she disrespects her, with Yvonne looking serious as she answers "to be clear I think you were great to work with, the reason I hate you is because you keep trying to pretend you are as good as me, you never will be in my class and I will just have to keep beating you down till you get that through that thick skull of yours"
Odette stands up and tells Yvonne "why not try it now bytch!" With security stepping in to stop the two charging each other, insults fly across the room from the two camps as even the two managers tell the other in non flattering terms to keep their fighter under control.
Both women are herded off separate sides of the stage, looking pissed that they didn't get the chance to tear the other bald.
Fight night; out comes Odette with Claudia Schiffer behind her, Odette waves to the fans as she heads down the aisle, stopping outside the ring to take a breath and get fully focused on what she has to do.
She is wearing a baby blue sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, while her brunette hair is up in a fighting ponytail.
Getting into the ring; Odette gets to her corner and begins stretching as Claudia talks to her, seeming to be reminding her to keep her cool.
Yvonne now comes out with Nicole Kidman working her corner, both are smiling as they look confident strutting down the aisle, getting high fives from members of the crowd.
She is wearing an emerald green sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, her blonde hair is braided for battle tonight.
Lapping the outside of the ring; the mind games seem to have begun as Odette glares at Yvonne, who is strutting with her arms in the air and a cocky grin etched on her face.
Soon enough she does step into the ring, whispering with Nicole that the games are over, now it is all business for them as they go through their warm up routine.
Both women come to the center of the ring and touch noses as they intensity of their stares might melt most peoples resolve to fight them, not these two clearly as neither seems to blink as the referee finishes their instructions.
When asked to touch gloves; it ends up being more a swipe then anything, before they return to their corners so they can begin 10 rounds of lightweight action.
Round 1:"Ding" both women come out with their eyes locked as they exchange stiff single punches, looking for openings to exploit.
Odette tries to be the one to push the pace, Yvonne steps back and lands a double jab off the nose of the American.
It looks like Yvonne is comfortable to let Odette come towards her and is looking to counter her rival, which works for her as Odette misses when she throws power punches.
But Odette soon adapts, feinting with her left several times before she catches out her opponent with a left across her face and a straight up the middle.
Now Odette is in close and the fighters nearly clash heads as it is almost like a hand brake has been taken off them, slugging it out with nostrils flaring.
Till Yvonne steps back to make Odette miss with a right hook, then snaps her head back with a straight followed by a left hook that shoves Odette onto the back foot.
The bell rings to end the round with Yvonne confidently smiling at Odette, who hates to nod but does so as she knows Yvonne has taken the opening round.
But as Odette sits and talks to Claudia, she damn well isn't going to roll over for her as she talks to her coach on what needs to be improved.
Round 2:The round starts similar to the first; both measuring the other up as Yvonne looks happy to let Odette take the lead in their dance.
Till Odette surprises her with a feint followed by the real right straight into her face, Odette catching Yvonne unaware it seems as the American begins to drive her back to the ropes.
Yvonne covering up as Odette works the body while her head is dipped down against the guard, Yvonne is groaning out and needing to shove her opponent back.
The Aussie looks to try to match Odette's intensity, but she is failing right now as Odette slips under a straight and lands another right under the ribs of her rival.
Yvonne looks annoyed but is keeping calm as Odette has her pinned behind her guard and retreating around the ring, with punches slamming off the gloves and forearms of Strahovski.
When Yvonne tries to come out her guard, Odette is now the one to show nifty footwork to step back and counters with a left cross, with a straight following up the middle to knock the blondes head back.
The round ends with Odette simply dominant over her long term rival, a big beaming smile on her face now as Claudia yells "that's my girl!"
Round 3:Odette looks to want to beat Yvonne on work rate judging by how quickly she comes for her, with Yvonne looking to be patience.
While Odette isn't landing as cleanly as the last round, Yvonne is finding it hard to land much more then counter jabs and straights.
The brunette leans out the way of a counter left cross and instead lands a right of her own, before stepping in and working the abs of Yvonne once more.
Yvonne needing to shove her back and starts to take a more aggressive stance herself, leading to a fiery exchange in the center of the ring.
Odette misses with a right cross as Yvonne ducks under it and comes up with an uppercut that knocks the Lioness onto her heels.
Now it's the Aussie on the front foot as she forces Odette around the ring behind her guard, Yvonne switching up her targets to make it hard for Odette to block.
Each time Yustman tries to come out the guard in the dying seconds of the round, she is knocked back behind it by counter punches landing straight to her face.
As the round ends, there is some posturing by the fighters, telling the other that they are going down as the referee orders them back to their corners.
The Lioness corner though looks the happier, telling Odette "she is looking old! Keep the tempo up and she'll crumble at your feet!" Firing up Odette.
While the Lookout corner is a calm one, they are trying not to let the performance so far worry them as Nicole and Yvonne discuss ways of hurting Odette.
Round 4:Both fighters come out looking to control the fight, Odette trying to keep that intensity up with her coming straight at her opponent.
Punches slamming into Yvonne's guard as the blonde dances around the outside of the ring and seems to be letting Odette punch herself out at this rate.
A missed left from Odette gives Yvonne the opening she wanted, dipping under a follow up right; she drills a left into the body of Odette with a right landing to the ribs.
Yvonne steps back when her opponent tries to slam a right to her head, allowing Yvonne to counter with an overhand left that knocks Odette back.
Now the Lookout fighter is controlling the action, turning the switch again from defence to offence as she bashes Yustman's face and body to force her back behind her guard.
The round ends with Yvonne roaring to her fans as they cheer her on, Odette giving her a nasty glare before they head back to their corners.
Claudia not looking worried yet, reminding Odette that Yvonne is always going to be tough to beat but this is her night to put her down again.
While Yvonne enjoys getting cleaned up, her and Nicole talk about how that was a better round but plenty more is needed to turn this into a win.
Round 5:Yvonne is looking to keep on the move and attack from different angles to keep Odette guessing, the American looking more defensive as she keeps her guard tight.
As Yvonne moves in to land a straight, ODETTE NUDGES HER BACK AFTER DIPPING DOWN, THEN LANDS AN UPPERCUT THAT LOOKS TO ROCK YVONNE, THE FOLLOW UP RIGHT ACROSS HER CHIN PUTS HER DOWN!
The Yvonne fans look stunned as an Odette chant breaks out, with the brunette jogging to a neutral corner with eyes locked onto her bitter rival.
1...2...3 Yvonne looks up at the light blinking rapidly, 4...5...6 she gets to her knees while shaking her head 7....8... Beating the count but looking shaky.
The referee let's the action continue and as expected Odette flies forwards, Yvonne trying to cover up but getting caught around her guard with hammering cross punches.
Yvonne dips down and grabs Odette desperately around the waist, with Odette landing two punches to the kidneys, the referee dives in to pry them apart and warn Odette to keep it clean.
As the action resumes; it is clear to see that Yvonne is in survival mode, ducking and dodging punches before grappling onto Odette when she does get caught.
Late in the round Odette manages to catch Yvonne with a straight punch and backs her to the ropes, where she manages to land a three punch combo straight to the face of the blonde.
The referee is standing close; maybe going to stop this but the bell rings to end the round and by the looks of it save Yvonne from being stopped.
Odette looks at Claudia with an annoyed expression, she knows she had Yvonne banged to rights if she had more time.
While in the Lookout! Corner, it is all hands on deck to help Yvonne recover, tossing water into her face and shouting at her not to let herself get caught out as easily.
Round 6:Back out comes Yvonne fully on the defensive as Odette stalks her around the ring, the American is using a high jabbing attack to try to herd Yvonne towards the ropes.
When Odette is getting through and smacking punches into the swollen cheeks of her opponent, she is being rewarded with loud groans from her.
But Yvonne holds each time Odette starts to land a flurry of punches together, stopping any real momentum that Yustman can create.
Odette is struggling to find the killer punch, leading to her looking more frustrated as she backs Yvonne around the ring, with minimal punches coming back at her.
In the dying seconds of the round; Odette shoves Yvonne to the ropes and begins to work the body of her rival, slamming short sharp punches in to make Yvonne gasp out.
The round ends with Odette raising her right fist in the air as she struts back to her corner, Claudia smiling as she washes down her fighter.
Across the ring Yvonne is getting her face worked on, her team trying to reduce the swelling as Nicole yells "come on Vonnie! You are better then! Prove it now!"
Round 7:Odette looks to come out and continue pressing Yvonne around the ring, drilling her punches into the gloves of the retreating blonde.
As Odette has Yvonne near the ropes, she lands a right around the guard of Strahovski, but gets nudged back by the Aussie and gets caught with an uppercut.
Yvonne seems to have recovered as the fight starts to become more evenly fought, both sting the others face with single punches.
Odette misses with a right cross as Yvonne ducks under and pounds the gut of Odette to make her gasp out, Yvonne sticks in close and works the body of her rival.
The Lioness fighter nudges Yvonne; with both landing hard shots at the center of the ring, with Odette swinging two cross punches that miss as Yvonne moves back.
Late in the round and Yvonne has Odette backing up as she slams away to the body, making the brunette wince with each shot.
The bell rings and both girls are looking sore to say the least, sweat drenched and puffy cheeks as they jog back to their corners to be worked on.
Round 8:Odette doesn't seem to be pushing as hard as she did before, both women managing to land stiff shots straight through the others gloves to faces.
When Odette steps in and tries to land a right cross; Yvonne ducks down and uses her left to nudge her back, then lands a right into her gut that makes Odette cry out.
The momentum looks to be switching as Odette looks to be tiring, she is trying to box more off the back foot and finding herself being stalked by Yvonne.
Who starts to feint to see how Odette will react, before coming in with a right into the body again followed by an overhand left that knocks Odette towards the ropes.
When Odette tries to swing a right hook to catch out Yvonne, SHE MISSES AS YVONNE LEANS BACK, THEN COUNTERS WITH A HARD RIGHT BODY SHOT THAT MAKES ODETTE CRY OUT AND BEND OVER, AN UPPERCUT TO HER FACE TAKES YUSTMAN'S KNEES FROM UNDER HER AND FACE DOWN SHE GOES!
Yvonne doesn't waste time heading off to a neutral corner, leaning on the ropes as the count begins over Odette prone body.
1...2...3.. Odette starts to push herself to her side, 4...5...6 where it is revealed her nose is bleeding onto the canvas, 7....8.. The gumshield is spat out as 9...10 the fight is over, Odette is counted out!
Winner Yvonne Strahovski KO Round 8After:Yvonne had to really pull this one out the fire, she just continues to lean against the turnbuckles and raises her fists in the air as she thanks whatever power above gave her the strength to survive round 5.
Meanwhile the ringside doctor sits up Odette and works on fixing the damaged nose of the brunette, tears streaming down the face of Yustman as Claudia comes over and tries to console her.
While Yvonne is helped by Nicole to her corner, where she looks relieved at getting washed down and a drink, telling her coach "I honestly thought I was done there" with Nicole replying "she ain't in your class babe, you proved it once again"
Odette is up with her nose blocked up with tissue, she gets a chant from the fans to show who they love after this fight, not pleasing Yvonne and Nicole judging by their faces.
Claudia helps Odette out the ring as the doctor wants to make sure her nose isn't broken, Odette waving to the fans as a thank you for their support.
In the ring Yvonne just stares at her as her hand is raised by the referee, she taps her abs and tells the crowd "Odette better not skip doing crunches next time she faces me!" Smirking as she heads back to her corner.
Nicole and Yvonne leave the ring all smiles but it has to be asked if there was more time, would the referee have stopped Yvonne in the fifth round or does the result prove she wasn't in any real danger, be sure both fighters will give their opinion on this one soon.
