Our reporter in The Great Room at The Manor watching baseball and sipping cold beverages with Poindexter Del Crunchy and the Man In The Hat.
Reporter(smiling): "So, guys, when's the Stewart/Scerbo trade going to happen..."
Pointy: "You know, lad, it's been a LONG time since I've threatened to turn you upside down and use you to make fence post holes, but..."
Reporter: "Look, I'M not the one who suggested it! TESS is the one who thinks Cassie would be better off at Front Street..."
Pointy: "Lad, you DO know that the girl has to have SOME constraints, right? Or, basically, the ENTIRE WORLD WOULD BE ONE BIG POOL OF PUDDING!"
Reporter: "Well...yes..."
Pointy: "And. Do you know who THE ONE PERSON IN THE WORLD who is able to create some of those constraints IS?"
Reporter: "My guess is, he's a large, powerful Scotsman who might use me to dig fence post holes..."
Pointy: "CORRECT. And, if Scerbo went to work for HER CHIEF ENABLER HERE..."
Man In The Hat (smiling): "Now, I think I'm being insulted..."
Pointy: "WHO, mind, spends UNTOLD sums of money getting her every new thing she wants and then helping to get her OTHER things to WEAPONIZE the first things...who has passed up the U.S. military as the world's largest purchaser of PUDDING..."
Reporter: "Cassie DID say she has an entire warehouse full..."
Pointy: "That might be an exaggeration. Because she has plenty of OTHER things in that warehouse..."
Man In The Hat: "Wellll...that was true...but she ran out of room, so I had a SECOND warehouse built, just for the pudding..."
Pointy: "DO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN, LAD? Without me, the girl would run absolutely amok! And, even if that weren't true, as big of a pain as she is, she's the best damn flyweight in the world and Bazz is NOT trading her."
Reporter: "I see what you mean. Although, I'm pretty sure WIZ would be willing to deal Stewart, since Winter's his top fly now..."
Man In The Hat (rolling his eyes): "You know what's interesting, son? Over at Medallion, they had Biel and Cuoco both fighting lightweight at the same time. They were both elite fighters. Both got pushed and they both got title shots and won titles and made the freaking Hall of Fame. Now, Lookout!, they've had Strahovski and Peregrym, again, both elite, both getting pushes and getting title shots and winning titles. In the same weight. At the same stable. Foxfire..."
Reporter: "Carter and Hayden."
Man In The Hat: "Carter and Hayden. Both elite. Both getting pushes and title shots and winning titles and maybe getting into the Hall of Fame. And, then there's HISC. Portman and Williams. Both elite. Both getting pushes and title shots and winning titles and both getting into the Hall of Fame..."
Reporter: "And, Kreuk's been there, too..."
Man In The Hat (nodding): "All over the FCBA, there are examples of multiple fighters in the same weight at the same stable at the same time having tremendous success...at the same time. But. Apparently, the ONE place where that can't happen is here at Front Street. We are apparently too freaking STUPID to figure out how to do it, since, EVERY time we get a girl rolling at a weight, somebody's telling us we don't need other girls at that weight. We heard it at bantam when Chloe broke through. We heard it at lightweight with Decker and how we didn't need Torv anymore...despite the fact that Anna was the BEST FREAKING LIGHT WE HAD and she proved it by going and winning the title. And, now we're hearing it at flyweight. We don't need K-Stew. Her time is past. It's all about Winter."
Reporter: "I'm guessing you don't agree..."
Man In The Hat: "What I've been trying to do since we got here was do what stables like Lookout!, Foxfire, and HISC had already DONE. I wanted MULTIPLE top-tier fighters at the same weight. Why? Because, there are cycles here. A girl loses a couple of fights, maybe hits a slump, and she fades out of the picture. Not forever, of course, but, for awhile. If she's IT for you at the weight, you're out of the picture until she works back. Same with a girl loses a title fight or who wins the title. She gets her shot or gets the belts and has her run. And, then she's not getting another shot for awhile. Again, if she's all you have, you're out of the picture. Well. We want to stay IN the picture, like those stables did and, in most cases, still do. There's Williams and also Portman. There's Straho AND Peregrym. There's Carter AND Hayden..."
Pointy (smiling): "But, apparently you can't figure out the magic formula..."
Man In The Hat: "Apparently NOT, even with ten title belts on our wall and two freakin' Hall of Famers helping us run things. But, despite our lack of erudition, we're gonna keep TRYING. So, we are NOT going to push Stewart aside for Winter...nor are we going to push WINTER aside for Stewart. We're going to push 'em both just like all those other stables do. And, you know what? I think, if we put ALL our brainpower together, we might just figure out how. Now. Let's watch some ball."
