TESS VALMORE
On May 9. 2017, the Wiz startled the FCBA with a major alignment of Front Street. The big surprise was he released the 30 year old Brooklyn Decker, who was a former lightweight champ, and retained the 38 year old Anna Torv, who in her ten years in the FCBA, had had only one title match which she lost to Strahovski. She had a great record and although she terrorized second tier opponents, she coughed it up when facing top ranked fighters. At the time, I couldn’t understand why the Wiz favored Torv over Decker. I thought he made a big mistake.
Decker was signed by the Lioness Club Of America on July, 31, 2017 Since joining the Lioness club, Decker has gone 9-3 against a tough schedule. She has beaten Agdal, Kendall Jenner, Rohrbach and Kostek. Her losses were to T. Atkinson, Upton and Ferguson In our last ranking, we had Decker ranked at six in the welters. Torv was unranked because of competition. Boxing World in their ranking at the same time had Torv at 7 in the lightweights and Decker at 16 in the welters. Did we see a little home cooking here?
Torv during the same period had also gone 9-3 Prior to her last fight, she beat every run of the mill fighter she faced including the worn out and beaten down GOAT, but she lost to every ranked fighter. The once again the Wiz’s strategy of building a record with wins over lower tier fighters worked and she was awarded a title fight with Strahovski who she had lost to four times before. She pulled the big upset. She beat Strahovski, claimed the title. Torv’s win now made the Wiz’s move look brilliant until ten minutes later when she retired
Now Front Street is short one member in the welter ranks. In Boxing World’s most recent rankings they have Decker now down to 17 in the welters. Our ranking should be out late this week. I would anticipate Decker being ranked much higher because of the competition she fights. Front Street is short one welter with no one of Decker’s ability in sight. I believe in retrospect, Front Street would have been better off keeping Decker and dismissing Torv
Rumors are, that Decker has signed for a major fight that will take place before the next PPV, I have not been able to verify who her opponent may be, Torv on the other hand is hanging around Front Street eating s’mores
