TESS VALMORE
For some time I have referred to Chimera as being dysfunctional. Its creation is a story of unmitigated greed and betrayal. Ginny, the Academy's owner, was forced to sell due to her being in personal financial difficulty.
One night last October, several women met to discuss the possible acquisition of Ginny's Academy. Their discussions revolved around the value of three of Ginny's fighters; Blake Lively, Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron.
I'm told by reliable informants that Lively was considered almost worthless, and that her current value was unlikely to rise. Lawrence was the real prize asset, her value was only going to increase, especially if she were moved up to welter, where the competition was not nearly as difficult as lightweight.
The third woman, Theron was, for all intents and purposes, considered finished, but with her name and celebrity, she would continue to have value. Theron's personal appearances were guaranteed to be worth millions in coming years, no matter that she had no business still being in the ring.
In order to get the deal she needed, Ginny had to get Charlize sign a contract extension - without telling her that she had agreed to sell her stable to McMahon. What made the betrayal even worse was that McMahon, with the connivance of Ginny's trusted employee Jeri Ryan, then defrauded Ginny out of her payment. Ryan had been in on the deal from the beginning
This is McMahon fourth FCBA stable. The longest any previous stable managed to stay in business was three hundred and seventy-one days. Despite those stables having contained some pretty good fighters - none followed McMahon to Chimera. That alone will give you a good idea of what they thought about how much fun it was to fight for McMahon.
Most competing stables wisely withheld comment on the creation of Chimera. Only Electra of the Dollhouse sent congratulations in a blatant attempt to curry favor. Electra called the Chimera lineup “impressive” which (according to my sources) is far more than McMahon thinks of her own fighters.
Chimera is the most top-heavy and bloated organization of any in the FCBA which has prided itself on maintaining stables that are "lean and mean". Chimera, at last count, had 8 fighters and 16 support staff, office workers, and trainers. Two office workers are available to fight, as are all but one of the trainers. Several have - either officially or under the table - been offered to anyone willing to take them, with no takers!
Of the trainers, only one has shown any competence. The real joke is hiring Angelina Jolie to train Theron. Charlize KOed Jolie in the second round in their only fight (sixteen years ago) and ever since there are numerous recorded instances of Jolie doing her best to undermine, if not actually dominate her, using any method at hand short of actually challenging her physically. And Chimera's Head Trainer is none other than Theron’s betrayer, her former stablemate, Ryan!
The Chimera fighters:
Miley Cyrus. A former champion already successful when she signed, was not a member of the Academy. Signed the day the sale was completed
Margaret Robbie. An average fighter with name value was also not a member of the Academy. Signed the day the sale was completed.
Blake Lively. Once held the lightweight title; on the downhill slide having lost 6 of 8.
Jessica Nigri. Former JMD champ was brought in and bumped up to lightweight. Primary asset is her JMDs. She was doing OK as a bantams, but her future success at lightweight is doubtful, at best.
Charlize Theron. Enough said, though her treatment at the hands of McMahon, et. al., has been a disgrace.
Jennifer Lawrence. Unable to grab the gold ring as a light, pushed up to welter. A questionable move, but one which will have to play out before a final judgment is rendered.
Alice Goodwin. Once beat Kate Upton in a beach wrestling match. Signed because she has a 32G bust.
Iggy Azalea. She's 5'10", 150 lbs., and is being offered up for free. Come and get her. No takers
Jeri Ryan. She's 50 years old. She lost 8 of her last 10. Previously, she lost 5 of 7 to Theron. Her only visible reasons for remaining with Chimera seem to be her blind loyalty to McMahon - and her still JMD/D worth bosom - despite her advanced age.
Thus is Chimera! A stable full of workers no one else wanted; offered up for free, with nobody interested for the cost of cab fare. Fighters of possible worth, considered solely for their ability to fill seats. The winners in this disgrace? Stephanie McMahon and Jeri Ryan.
It’s stables like this that give capitalism a bad name! What lies in the future for these losers and the two biggest victims of betrayal, Theron and Ginny - who is now reduced to functioning as nothing more than a mouthpiece for McMahon (at least we hope that's all she is for Stephanie)? The outlook is dire indeed...
