First of all, thanks to everybody for coming back to participate for another thrilling month of FCBA action here in the league and this will be hopefully be another of our best PPVs of the year!! Second, while we recognize that people are still enjoying the current and stellar FCBA PPV for July, as well as Asylum, along with some of the other great action both here and in the BBU, which has recently featured the start to a Kelly Brook/Kate Upton series and a recent BBU PPV. However, we would like to get started on the next exciting FCBA PPV in August as it can take some time to get things set up and we want to give people as much time as possible to make the matches as epic as possible! Third, this PPV will be our annual August PPV, which is our annual "Boiling Point" PPV, featuring matches where both temperatures and tempers will be rising on the beach! So, have your fighters pick out their best bikinis to have these matches take place for some exciting beach boxing!
Fourth, if you haven't already seen the news, Anna Torv, fresh off her upset to secure the lightweight title, has decided to retire on top and as such, has immediately vacated the lightweight title. That will necessitate a tournament of lightweight contenders and we apologize as this is a last-minute decision and may disrupt some already planned matches for the August PPV. If we need to do a smaller August PPV and do a Lightweight Tournament leading up to it, I'm open. But, what we'll need in addition to your typical match-making is to volunteer a representative to appear in the lightweight tournament. Front Street is not planning on participating and as the most recent holders of the belt before that, we're also going to try to sit this one out. The tournament will not be more than eight and clearly can't be any less than two (2). We're open to participate if we need an eighth member, but I'm confident we'll have no trouble filling out a lightweight tournament. We realize that the lightweight Body Saddle tournament, which is still in the process of being finalized, will likely need to be postponed for a bit. However, we appreciate all of your cooperation, understanding and participation in advance. Once we have eight names, I'll put together a bracket and come up with results for the tournament - we can't wait to see which promising lightweights choose to participate this month and if there were already some lightweight matches in mind for this month, then perhaps we can incorporate some of those match-ups into the tournament if possible. We'll do whatever we can to make things work for everybody and get the lightweight title back to being defended here soon.
Of course, not all of the matches will occur, but just pick the most awesome match-ups you can think of and we'll get as many of them as possible to take place!! Any challenges, requests or acceptances for this PPV, put them here and once we have as many managers involved as we can, we'll get writers assigned to them so we can keep the momentum going from our last PPV, which was one of the best yet in my humble opinion! Last but not least, thanks to everybody for their participation throughout the year as I think we're going to be bigger and better than ever! So, keep up the spectacular work and I can't wait to see what creative bouts people come up with for August! No matter what your year is like so far, remember that life is still pretty amazing and thank you participating in the best league on the planet!! Can't wait to see what everybody comes up with!! Good luck with all of this and enjoy! -Lookout! Boxing

Chimera nominates Jessica Nigri for the Lightweight Tournament.
As for the schedule, I wonder why the rush to hold a L/W tournament? Torv just won it last month and there's often a few months between title fights.
Might it not be better to hold the August PPV as usual, since several managers have likely made their plans already - and perhaps run the Body Saddle lightweights at the same time. (give the Body Saddle winner one of the EIGHT spots in the lightweight title tourney? Losers "need not apply"?)
If you get TOO MANY entrants, maybe hold a box-off for the last few spots, or give disappointed entrants "first dibs" or a "guaranteed" title fight in the next (X number of months?)
Just some thoughts off the top of the old gray head.... I'm not enamored with any of them to be honest, but think they ought to be raised.

I agree with Ginny; I love the idea of a tournament to decide the next champion, but I don't see the need to rush this. not at such short notice. It can wait at least a month, get all the pieces in place and then people can go full hog into it to give us great bouts and a worthy champion at the end. On who I put forwards for the tournament, well the toss of the coin says Kendall Jenner would represent my stable, helps that Alessandra has the BBU title to keep her busy

Just some thoughts off the top of the old gray head.... I'm not enamored with any of them to be honest, but think they ought to be raised. Of course, we don't want to rush anything and just want to keep the lightweight title active. For what it's worth, there shouldn't be any occasions where there are months between title fights as we have a policy of "Forty-Five of Forfeit' where the lineal titles and most titles in general should be defended every 45 days. Now, we do waive that on occasion when a manager requests and you're right - this should be one of those times! Both you and Girl's Friday are likely correct - I'm sure other managers will probably agree as well and we apologize for making anybody feel pressured. If we're going to do this, we should do it right and not rush into anything.
I think we should likely hold the August PPV as usual, especially with the late notice. I don't know whether we want to do two lightweight tournaments in a row since some of the same girls might be competing in both, but then again, a little extra attention to some of the best lightweights in the world isn't a bad thing. Plus, like you said, perhaps the winner of the 'Body Saddle' tournament could have a guaranteed spot in the lightweight tournament too to give it a little extra cache.
I'm sure if we have too many interested parties, we'll find some way to get them involved some way or another. I think these are all good ideas and I'd love to hear from other managers. But, for now, I think that we probably did get too carried away with trying to make this happen suddenly and should hold off on the tournament until the September PPV. All responsibility should fall to me on this issue as Front Street did absolutely nothing wrong but put his fighter to go out on top and that is an opportunity few fighters get, but they should take advantage of if they can.
However, it looks like we already have two (2) promising entrants into the tournament already. I'd love to hear from other managers on their thoughts, but I'm open to working with everybody to make both the Body Saddle and Lightweight tournament happen. Just contribute here or via e-mail to let me know, but I think this has been a great discussion so far and should make for at least one, if not two, amazing PPVs! Thanks to both Ginny and Girl's Fridayfor volunteering some fighters to participate in the tournament and most importantly, their sage wisdom in this matter!

If we're doing things this month, then Adriana Lima is the only one eligible to take part. We've got challenges out for my other lightweights, so this may change if we wait until September.
As for the Body Saddle Tourney, I wasn't looking to start anything concrete until next weekend, anyway. I can certainly wait, until next year if necessary.

I total agree with Miss Ginny and Girls Friday. There should be no rush to establish a new champion and the August PPV going as usual. For a historical prospective look at what happened when Theron gave up the Welter title. Her last title fight was on 12/26/09 The welter tournament had 16 fighters participating. Two round one bouts were held on 2/5-6./10. Four were held 2/8-11 and 2 on 2/12 Second round bouts occurred on 2/13-14 The semi finals were on 2/15 and the champion ship bout was on 2/16 The whole tournament took eleven days. That period of days 5 to 16 happens to be a slack period in the present day The one stable who posts a PPV during that time, Dollhouse doesn’t have a decent lightweight so their PPV can go with no interruptions I have no problem with the tournament going in September or even October
I firmly believe a title tournament should be composed of the best fighters regardless of how many titles she has held or how recent her last title was I see no reason to penalize a fighter because she is very good. I am opposed to giving a title match to someone just becasue she has never had one. As to who are the best is always debatable but if we follow the 2010 formula of 16. that should include most of the fighters who deserve a title shot. In 2010 the choices were made by Simguy. I suggest the use of the top 16 fighters as listed by Boxing World.

I think Foxfire's MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD would be my best entry. (It occurs to me she could fight Yvonne Strahovski in the first round. Loser would apology to settle they current feud and agree to serve as the winner's valet in subsequent rounds.) PLP's HAYLEY ATWELL could be available if an 8th fighter is needed.

Archer For what it's worth, we'd considered sitting out this tournament, but the prospect of making Mary Elizabeth Winstead apologize in round one and then have her serving as her personal valet the rest of the rounds is pretty difficult to pass up. Unless something significant happens, we'll plan on that. And of course, Hayley Atwell would be a great addition too if we need any extra fighters too!
For what it's worth, we've also heard from Medallion who is interested in putting forth Kaley Cuoco and Vixens, who has volunteered Kelly Rohrbach as this tournament is filling out quite nicely and looks to be amazing whenever it does take place!

Wow, this is the first time I'm really sad we don't have a lightweight any more after having to let Ali Larter go! Of course, since we're not involved in the division, there's no-one we could possibly submit to the event, unfortunately. It will be an exciting event, though, I'm sure. I might be able to pitch in with a write-up, if I'm needed. I have very good memories of the 2010 welter tourney, so I know first-hand how thrilling it can be and how important winning it can be in the development of a fighter! As for the schedule, another option might be to have the first round on the August PPV, do the semis throughout September and the title fight on the September PPV. I'm entirely neutral in this, but I think the new champ shouldn't be crowned later than on the September PPV.

On the timetable of the tournament, I'd suggest if it is 8 people in the tournament, then the quarter finals can be on a CBAD or Mini PPV card in September then the semi finals open the main PPV and the title fight main events it. But judging how quickly the names are flying in, if it becomes a 16 person tournament, well then it is going to take serious thought on when the fights happen, I'm still against having them on the PPV this month as stated before, so it might become a situation like Tractorpull said of the rounds being cut up more closely. For example: *Top half of the last 16 fight on the 10th September. *Bottom half on the 11th. *Q-F's on the 13th and the semis and final on the main PPV. It's questions like this why I would hold back having anything to do with the tournament on this months PPV, we'll need to plan this thoroughly so it doesn't go tits up

HAVING STIRRED THE POT ALREADY.... I'll throw out another idea (suggestion?) sure to cause a fuss.
In the good old (simguy) era, the FCBA had "multiple" (lightweight and other weight class) title holders. IIRC: belt titles included Paramount, Maxim, Reebok, Nike, MTV, Playboy, Studio(?), in addition to other "titles" like Victoria's Secret, Ice Hotel, JMD, JMD/D, Beach (was there ever a "Beach Champion" crowned)? Then there are/were other bouts in events like AHW, MMA, and random "stable wars", "Best of Sevens" … etc.
MY POINT (she finally gets to one!) is there have always been times (eras even) when the FCBA embraced the concept of having more than one champion. Maybe Anna Torv has given us an opportunity here we should take advantage of.
MULTIPLE TOURNAMENTS! Crown several (8?) different champions in weight class tournaments running during the year, with 1 fight each month (in each weight class) to draw it out; then a year-end tournament each (Dec? Jan?) to crown the (weight class) CHAMPION OF THE YEAR; or MISS LIGHTWEIGHT 2018; or some name designating her the one woman in her weight class as the preeminent fighter of that year!
Give each annual champ a plaque in the Champions Wing of the FCBA HOF... doesn't make her a HOF member, just recognizes her as having a great year.
I'm sure there are holes in my plan, but I think it's something to consider... as an alternate to a tournament with only 8 women, this would be 8 (or six, or however many) for EACH TITLE at EACH WEIGHT and there's plenty of other title sponsor names we could come up with.
Besides, with this plan, you'd be guaranteed to have a "title qualification" fight in several weight classes every month, rather than a title fight in one class every couple of months.
Think about it and I look forward to shooting down some of the responses, and (sad to say) probably agreeing with many more saying, "Yeah, I shoulda thought of that too."

OK I know people will be sick of hearing me today but while I am not adverse to more titles per say, are you suggesting 8 champions and then one undisputed champion at the end of the year? It's already a pain to follow real life boxing with super champions, regular, etc in one organization, trying to know who the Reebok, the everlast, the McDonald's champion would be a pain in the arse to follow. Now if it was something like a secondary title coming out of this I would back, so like an intercontinental title but that might be down to me being a wrestling fan lol I'm just not a fan of so many titles floating around even if they are for winning tournaments.

Once again I have to agree with girlsfriday. One title is enough One tournament that ends with the Unified Lightweight title I KNEW you'd all say that... Yeah, I know 8 tournament champions (in each weight class) all meeting at the end of the year to crown a Unified Division Champion - especially every year - would be a bear to keep track of, let alone organize and write. (Which is precisely why I proposed that someone other than ME do it!!! LOL) And, of course, I definitely WAS thinking of making the FCBA more like "real boxing" (multiple champions, weight classes 3-4 pounds wide, all competitors drug tested - but only those who disagree with the commissioner and/or Tess Valmore being stripped and banned for a month or more...) All we need are two or three more feds organizing and we can go worldwide!!!

All we need are two or three more feds organizing and we can go worldwide!!! We always appreciate unique ideas to keep the FCBA fresh and interesting, but while you proposed the idea, you also came up with the exact reasons why it won't take place - it's going to be too confusing to keep track of and a logistical nightmare to organize and write. It's already tricky enough to keep the titles that we do have busy every month and there's no reason to make the FCBA more complicated. I'm always happy to hear thoughts and suggestions, but we have no plans on adding any more lineal titles at this time. Keep those ideas coming though!
In terms of the lightweight title, we'll be holding a lightweight title tournament likely next month. However, I've seen some suggestions where we do part of the tournament this month and complete it next month. Hopefully soon we'll have the tournament organized, but it appears we have as interested parties: Adriana Lima, Kelly Rohrbach, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Kaley Cuoco, Kendall Jenner, Jessica Nigri and Yvonne Strahovski. As of right now, that would be nine and we would have Yvonne step aside. If we get more interested parties, then perhaps we'll come up with some potential match-ups to determine who would get to compete in the tournament, such as Yvonne/MEW which has been recommended or others. We can also expand the tournament as needed if we get additional interest. We'll keep you updated and if we've missed anybody, then by all means, let us know. Sounds like we're off to an awesome start!

Re: Jessica Nigri. I'm not all that sold on her chances in a tournament setting, she's new at light; she's still relatively inexperienced and she's admittedly #3 in her own stable (behind Lively/Theron...and Lawrence if she loses a few pounds) so I don't think it's fair to have ANYONE step aside to put Jessica in.
I'm sure everyone would feel better if Nigri DOES get in, that she beats someone in a qualifying bout to earn it rather than get in because the stable secretary got up early and skipped her morning coffee to type a post before 6/7 other fighters managers did!!

I'd like to say that while the current line-up is certainly stellar, my suggestion is to go to 16 instead of 8, even if the tourney takes longer that way. With Sagra, Atwell and a to-be-named Vassago fighter we're already at 12. I understand Lookout's hesitation with Yvonne being the latest champ, but she was properly dethroned by Torv and should have the same chance as everybody else to get it back.
Also: If you look at who won't be in the tourney from a list of former champions (Biel! Palicki! Durance! Helfer! Larter! Cole!), I'd also like to propose that Lookout gives a wild card to at least two of these legends, even if they are unmanaged.
As to Ginny's suggestion for more tournaments, I fall squarely to the sceptical side of the argument. Having different titles across a division worked well when Simguy did weekly PPVs, but I don't think it would be a feasible idea now. I'm a fan of the lightweight and the welter champ (and possibly across the other divisions, too), hooking it up, though, from time to time.

Miranda Kerr is definitely NOT interested either!

I don't think having further tournaments will be feasible on a regular basis as they are very tricky and time-consuming to organize (Although certainly fun at times! ) but having fights across adjacent divisions definitely is feasible from time to time and we hope to see it more in the future.

Miranda Kerr has won the VS tournament last year and conquered both Strahovski & Torv too. This year she's been given two title challenges already and it makes no sense whatsoever for her to be included in another tournament with the LW title as the top prize. Since we hope that Miranda becomes that inaugural BBU/FCBA champion one day, we're gonna let others squibble for the title opportunity
