TESS VALMORE
Rome, one of my favorite cities in my favorite foreign country. I remember sitting outside at a small cafe at midnight in the light of the Victor Emanuel Monument having a bottle of wine, watching handsome Italian guys passing by giving me the eye. I was with my parents, so that is the end of that story
Rome is where Bonzo decided to have his PPV. I have to tell you, I am not overly happy with this PPV, because a couple of the bouts put some of my favorites against each other. I just hate to make those kind of choices.
KOSARIN/DANES Kosarin, in fourteen conventional fights, has quickly risen to the number six bantam slot in Boxing Worlds rankings. She is 11-4 for her career and at present 5-2 for the year. She has a bout in the upcoming PPV tomorrow which she should easily win. Danes is in the Hall Of Fame. She is a five time unified champion, four at flyweight and one at bantam. Boxing World has her in the three position Danes is now, at 39 and slowing down. She only had two fights last year and one thus far this year. She has lost three of her last four. I think this bout is more important to Kosarin than Danes. A win here could get her a title bout. Kosarin is 18 years younger that 2 1/2 inches taller. I don’t like to go against the Consortium, but I think youth and size are going to win. Kosarin by a TKO
LAW/FREEMAN I like both these women and root for them to win. I have Freeman ranked at nine in the welters, Bowing World has her at seven. I don’t have Katrina ranked as she has lost her last three. Boxing World has her at ten. Cassidy is 2-2 for the year after her loss to Kloss in the June PPV. Law has had only one bout this year losing to Strahovski. The two have fought three times with Law holding a 2-1 edge. Freeman won the last bout, which was a welter title bout. I think this is a 50/50 fight. I’m going to take a chance on Freeman to win
KOSTEK/T. ATKINSON Kostek is a newbie who so far has a 2-1 record. She has a tough bout scheduled tomorrow against Lawrence. Then, she has to face Atkinson, who is the current welter champ in a non-title fight. Thats a tough 2 1/2 week schedule. Atkinson is 13-8 and is 5-1 for the year in conventional bouts. She also has a bout on the July PPV against Perry for the title. I think Kostek definitely has promise, but she taking on too many top fighters in too short a time. Atkinson will win
RIGHETTI/STRAHOVSKI What do you to when two fighters you never bet against, meet. That’s my problem. Strahovski happens to be my favorite lightweight (outside of another blonde whose name I can’t mention at present) Yvonne has held four unified lightweight titles and is the current champion. She has a title fight against Torv tomorrow and is 6-0 for the year. She has Hall Of Fame numbers. At 36. she should be able to make it, if she fights at her current rate. Righetti is a member of the Hall. She has held the unified welter title five times. She also has a bout on the July PPV which she should win. When a top lightweight goes against a top welter, I have to go with the bigger girl. As much as I hate to bet against Yvonne, I have to go with Amanda
