1. Felicity Jones vs Claire Foy (Flyweight)
Felicity:
(34, 5’3, 2:3 FCBA, Free Agent)

Claire:
(34, 5’4, 0:1 FCBA, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
The night begins with an opening of new faces and old, with Felicity Jones returning to the VIX circle and facing off against newcomer Claire Foy, of recent fame of hit TV show, The Crown.
If one was expecting fireworks to start this event off, however, you’d be sorely disappointed: Felicity and Claire walking down the ramp with arms wrapped around each other’s waists, smiling and waving to the assembled crowds. These two are well-acquainted it seems, and rightly so: sharing similarities like recently breaking into the American box office and having the same physiques to fawn over, even at their current age.
Reporters later asking them what kind of fight we’re expecting to see tonight.
“A clean one, no doubt,” Felicity immediately chimes in. “All this nonsense and bad blood is just not our style. I mean, I’m fighting the Queen, for goodness sake. I’d rather be a tad hesitant than to punch her in the face, no?”
The crowd laughs along with Jones, and it just makes Claire’s face brighten a shade of pink.
“I’m just happy to be here and to be given this opportunity,” Claire remarks right after. “It’s a shame that we both have to face off tonight, but honestly, Felicity’s right - I don’t need any of that drama and nonsense my second time in the ring. Let’s see what happens!”
Girls make ready in the ring: Claire dressed in a modest red-silken bikini, black gloves, whereas Felicity going for classic black and white. They’re readying themselves at opposing corners, when there goes the bell! Here we go with the opening bout of the evening and ten rounds of Flyweight action!
ROUND 1:
Let’s see what happens when friends face off: they come out with steady steps forward, Felicity jabbing first, feeling out the rookie. Claire barely throwing any punches back in turn: classic rookie mistake of panicking slightly once the hands start flying in your direction. She’s focusing on avoiding Jones’ attacks, moving and weaving, together with blocking with both her arms. All well and good, Ms Foy, but it ain’t gonna win you the round. Claire grunting as a one-two combo lands quickly on her cheek, but Felicity perhaps not having the heart to pursue and exploit her friend just yet. The round ends in Jones’ favour - I think there’s no doubt about that. What does leave us in serious doubt is Foy’s ability to fight. Let’s see if the second round changes our opinion...
ROUND 2:
Felicity getting reprimanded slightly by her own corner at not going full out 100% at her opponent in the previous round. Call it sympathy points, Felicity says with a shrug. We just hope it doesn’t come back to cost her later on. Claire also ‘encouraged’ by her own side to be a tad more aggressive. She does exactly that, surprising Jones with some tough one-two punches sent straight into her guard in the opening seconds, stunning her briefly. Felicity grunting, but fires right back, with both Brits finally getting down to business in the middle, exchanging punches to the face and the sides for a good thirty seconds. Felicity suddenly hurt when a right hook connects into her cheek clean, the lucky combination of angle plus power just hitting her where it hurts. She goes stumbling to one side and suddenly Foy is the one charging in! No qualms from the rookie this time as she goes after her ‘good friend’: more punches to the body and hard swings hammering at the guard! Felicity driven back to the ropes and has to make herself scarce just to keep standing! Bell rings and saves her from the onslaught and a potential knockdown. All those doubts about Foy’s ability seem to have vanished, ladies and gents. These two girls are about to take us for one hell of an opening night!
ROUND 3:
We enter the third and unfortunately it’s spent more on catching their breaths. Claire looking to keep up her momentum with some early punches, but Felicity getting out of her way quickly and showing off her own excellent footwork in-ring. Claire looking like a newbie all of a sudden again as her punches smack the empty air and nothing else. But in the second half, Felicity seems to change her mind and attempt to stand and brawl once more, getting in close and landing a left-right off Foy’s flanks. The punches knock the wind out of her, but it’s not enough to stun the Queen-errant completely: Claire hooking back a right hand at Felicity’s head: it CONNECTS in a dizzying mixture of both painful grunt and roar of excitement from the crowd! Felicity once again tried to compete in close-quarters but got her face SMACKED around instead. She’s right on the ropes now and Claire is RIGHT on top of her, slamming punches into the body left and right, left and right hup hup hup HUPP. Claire finally allows herself some sympathy when the bell rings, watching Felicity’s shell shocked face behind her mitts. But she’s quickly herded back to corner to recuperate. So far so good for the newcomer, although we can’t say the same for Jones, who’s getting wrecked in there!
ROUND 4:
Certainly a sleeper hit as both women continue to show such willingness to land punches on each other. Round 4 and Claire still chugging away, perhaps realising her power to hurt and now willing to fully utilise it. Felicity however learning from her lesson, staying back and jabbing at the face from afar. It seems to be doing its work: Claire getting stunned when she swings a hook, misses, then lets out painful yelps when the jab lands on her face over and over. Third such occurrence seems to be last straw for her: dizzied and dazed, Claire almost loses her balance as it catches her mid-swing and off guard. Felicity wading in quickly, keenly aware of the danger. More punches buried into Foy’s body, now driving her backwards for some payback. Claire trying to clinch up and cover like she’s been taught, but Felicity too close, wrapping up arms with her own and then having her way with her body: right hand forced upwards into the chin from within the clinch, and then ANOTHER landing... And just like that: FOY CRUMPLES DOWN ONTO HER BUTT! Those uppercuts to chin certainly rattled her queenly cage! Claire stumbles back, before rather unceremoniously collapsing onto her butt on the ground. It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Felicity Jones!
Is this fight over?! Felicity with that tiny grin indicating that she thinks it is so, walking slowly back to her corner to celebrate. Claire still choking on her own rubber guard, trying to grasp onto the ropes to recover. Referee runs the numbers and she’s slowly getting back up. Look of irritation on Felicity’s face as her opponent does manage to stand by the count of 8! This fight continues!
About thirty seconds still left on the clock and Claire does her best to hang in there. At the advice from her corner, she simply evades and bends her torso low, keeping the target practice to a minimum. Felicity herself not showing much drive to chase after either, jabbing steadily all the way to the bell. She knows she’s won this round, though we wonder whether this might be the second time in this fight she’s had an opportunity to finish her opponent but wasted it.
ROUND 5:
Round 5 and the girls are starting to show signs of slowing down: Felicity taking deep breaths as she rises from corner, and Claire not much different. They circle each other slowly, firing at the head and body, but not scoring often. Felicity has the advantage, naturally, but doesn’t seem to have the energy reserves to exploit it. Another regrettable shame from the brunette when she lets Claire recover her breath bit by bit. Foy for her part not stubborn enough to throw those big hooks as before, putting her footwork into practice instead and trying to outbox Jones at a distance. It’s not a good strategy we must admit, with Felicity just having more experience to land punches from that position. Claire’s body getting lit up towards the end of the round, with Jones taking advantage of the holes in her guard to walk her down, with another round wide open for the Star Wars starlet.
ROUND 6:
For their age, both ladies are still moving strong and fast. Could be their petite size, but also all that on-set training and workouts as they prepare for their movie roles. Round 6 and the all-out brawl continues, with both girls scoring some hard punches to the face and body in close quarters early on. Felicity with the aggression first, swinging in overdrive and willing to use the last of her energy reserves. Claire weathering, keeping her head safely behind her guard. Her body taking a beating but not as much as when Felicity eats a right hook to the side of her head which stuns her.. Claire walking forward, sending more straight hands into her compatriot’s chin and nose, driving Jones one step back at a time. Round ends before any girl can capitalise fully, but it’s clear that the newcomer showed more finesse than her counterpart, taking the round by a small margin.
ROUND 7:
More close quarters fighting, but Jones is clearly running on empty here... We’re not sure if she’s even reached the seventh round before in her brief career. A double-hook to the forearms appears to do the trick, sending Foy stumbling off to the side with a grunt, but Felicity’s knockout follow-up swing misses its target clear, with Foy just swerving out of the way in time. Counter-uppercut to the jawline STUNS Felicity Jones instead, with an UGHGH of her own, and she has no choice but to clinch forward with her fellow Brit. The two girls struggle in each other’s arms for a good while, taking a few steps forward, before losing a few more, shots to the belly throughout as they reach a draw when the bell rings. Good effort, good effort, but we’re still without a clear cut winner at this point.
ROUND 8:
How’s this for an opening bout, huh? Round 8 and both girls are still rearing to go at it. Felicity first to attack, swinging some big hooks up high thinking that her opponent is SURE to go down at any moment. Claire on the defensive, naturally that kind of fighter... She’s parrying and blocking and avoiding the attacks from Jones, waiting till the perfect moment to strike. Jones not adapting - that’s her weakness and learning point, if any. Lips and nostrils just eating counter-jabs from Foy throughout. You can’t fault her fighting spirit, however, Felicity just keeping it coming, swinging and swinging despite being on the losing end. Foy fending off another weak hook from her rival, this time easily parrying it off to the side. Felicity with a look of shock on her face as a counter left SMASHES into it, then another uppercut into the chin sends her SPRAWLING backwards into the ropes, before collapsing face first into the canvas! IT’S OVER!
Official Decision: Claire Foy defeats Felicity Jones via KO8!
AFTER:
Foy putting Jones away finally in the first minute of the EIGHT round! She wasn’t lucky in her first bout before, but this one clearly shows that she CAN go the distance should she decide to fight again.
Claire immediately checking on Felicity, kneeling down by her side. Jones wincing but manages a grin as she turns over onto her back. The two Brits share a warm hug and some words of encouragement. Certainly, they’ve put on a show for the fans tonight, who came here to see brawling Brits in action, giving them exactly that.
The night is still young, folks! Let’s see what else is in store!
