Saraya-Jade Bevis aka Paige vs Mia Kang
(The Dollhouse vs The Fighting Academy)
(1-2, 1 KO vs 0-2)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: "I have no idea what is she doing here!", says Mia Kang ahead of her tonight's PPV appearance, "Does she realize this is REAL stuff for SERIOUS people? All these WWE divas should be hired as mere ring girls, they look good enough in skimpy outfits but they know NOTHING about boxing!"
Indeed, even the lenghty careers of Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler doesn't change the familiar downgrading tune and The Dollhouse's decision to sign Saraya-Jade Bevis aka Paige has raised several eye-brows around the country. She's tasted success against fellow wrestling pro Natalie Eva Marie but got woefully exposed otherwise yet Mia's resume is hardly an upgrade. The Sports Illustrated model has gone down to both Kyra Santoro and Willa Holland which suggests she doesn't know much about this thing called boxing herself either!
Paige wears a black crop top, black leggins and matching black gloves. Long raven-black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The only thing missing is Uriah Heep's "Lady In Black" as the intro music. Oh wait... Mia Kang wears a red bikini set and white gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Both women settle into a classic head-hunting jabbing rush and prefer to duke it out from mid-distance. Confidence is at premium given their miserable records and one has the feeling they'll spend quite some time seeing each other out without a significant aggressive pursuit. Paige's wrestling demeanour might not favor such a laid-back approach but Dollhouse coach Kristanna Loken should know better how to neutralize the otherwise dangerous model. The action picks up some pace down the stretch with Paige showing signs of short fuse and she rattles the immobile opponent with a nice left/right combo which makes the model deke to the side. The English diva cranks it up late and delivers a solid jabbing series to back her rival into the ropes but the overall lack of outright strenght leaves the crowd dissapointed.
Round 2:
Mia's out with a stalking charge which catches the English brunette cold, a quick left/right hooking combo snaps the diva's head back and she gets wrapped in a flurry of body-busting punches that Kang delivers while leaning onto the younger woman. Paige's footwork isn't up to the task and she gets pounded back to the ropes where she gets picked off with more juice as her guard crumbles underneath the onslaught. Mia's prospects aren't valued so high as some of her Sports Illustrated peers but she does a nice job of keeping the WWE talent under wraps and she makes the English tourist moan in pain at the bell when a scything cross drills the exposed solar plexus.
Round 3:
Kristanna Loken's pep talk fuels Paige's WWE-like menacing leap that beats the model for the initial punch. The tactics go out of the window as Paige riffles a steady hooking rush aimed at knocking Mia's head off according to the fans! And keeps firing away from the front (left) leg and barks in her efforts as Kang's footwork goes south and leaves her rocking underneath the barrage. Ugh! A vicious left hook tears a patch under the model's eye and she drops her mitts so much that Paige BLASTS her with a quick left/right combo on the nose moments later... AND MIA'S LEGS BUCKLE sending her down on the canvas after a brief fish-tailing performance. "Hips don't lie, bytch!", Paige gloats over the fallen model but Mia wants to prove her case and gets up at five! "Shut up, you crazy hoe!" Suddenly there's some bad temper present in the ring and Mia strides right back into the fellow brunette's path which leads into an extended leather bash from both sides but the apparent red mist mode hurts the execution and both women struggle to slice each other's defense and settle into a wrestling-like stalemate come the final stretch. Paige actually wrestles the model to the boards as the clock expires and gets lectured by the referee. "Whatever!"
Round 4:
Both women are on collision course now and the classic head-hunting assault allows Paige to work around the small cut under Mia's right eye but the lack of proper defense SINKS her on wobbly knees when the Hong Kong-born model nails her on the jaw a couple of times. Another wild swing finds the left ear and backs the wrestler into the ropes where she tries to deke to the left only to WALKS INTO KANG'S PILEDRIVER!!! Ugh! That's the biggest punch of the night yet and it bends the English lass into spasms as Mia DRILLS her with an uppercut double and destroys the guard on the spot. Another quick strike on the right ear breaks the diva's resistance AND SENDS HER CRASHING DOWN ON ALL FOURS!!! And that's a tough one for the Norwich girl who struggles to find her breath before making a tired-looking effort to get up. She needs to push herself off the ropes and wobbles against the turnbuckle at nine. The ref gives her a long look but still calls it off!!! Paige nods back at him as if she doesn't realize what's going on and well, perhaps she indeed doesn't? Coach Loken is furious in the Dollhouse corner but there's nothing she can do anymore! Controversial TKO4 Mia Kang!!!
AFTER: While both women displayed mediocre defense during the fight, some pundits believe the stoppage was premature and perhaps a sign of anti-WWE bias. Where's Stephanie McMahon when you need her? Reputation goes a long way and Paige threatens to trash the place when she realizes what just happened. She looked a little dizzy after that knockdown but not exactly out of her senses. On the other hand, the Sports Illustrated hype gave Mia the benefit of the doubt and allowed her to score that elusive maiden FCBA victory. She doesn't care about the controversial circumstances, says she deserved to win and vows to destroy "any dumb WWE hoe who thinks otherwise!" That sounds like an open challenge!
Final result: Mia Kang def. Paige TKO4.
