Before: “My management and I have decided I need to working my way up the Flyweight Division by taking on better comp,” Danielle Campbell explains. “I have been wanting a rematch with Kat Graham ever since she beat me 2 years ago at the Asylum. Now that she’s a free agent, w thought this would be the perfect time for me to have another shot at her. She’s got a lot of boxing talent and if I can beat her, it will make the statement that DC is serious about a title shot in 2018.”
Kat Graham eyes Danielle with a knowing smirk: “Let’s face it DC—you are calling me out because you think my leaving Front Street means suddenly I’m vulnerable. Well. Think again, honey, because I have been training at Front Street with the Wiz’s approval. You may think I’m going to be easy to take down—but, no, that’s not what’s gonna happen. You can just climb the Flyweight ladder using someone else as a steppingstone.”
Danielle smirks: “Oh, but I WANT you to be a steppingstone. There is no one I would rather see as a steppingstone. You won’t be able to brag about beating me anymore.”
“Honey, bragging about beating you is the LAST thing I’d do,” Kast sniffs. “You’re a jobber and that’s where you’ll stay. Beating you is no honor.”
“Well, then you better find some honor in LOSING to me, because that’s what’s gonna happen!” Danielle fires back.
PLP Communications Director Autumn Reeser now appears: “I think that’s about all the trash talk we need for now. Come along DC, you have training to do.”
“Yeah, Dani, you train really hard because you’ll need it fighting me!” Kat called as Autumn steered a seething Danielle Campbell from the ring.
Danielle enters the ring in a white bikini with blues stripes and a halter top around her neck. She wears dark blue gloves and boots with white laces. Her hair is in a ponytail. Kat has gone with a pink bikini with black trim. Black gloves and boots with pink laces. Hair pulled back in a braid. Both fighters looking eager to go offer no problems during ring instructions and are soon in their corners looking eager to go. The bell rings….
R1: Kat moving quickly to bring some strong hooks into Dani’s midsection. Then as DC is doubling forward, Kate smacks rights and lefts into Dani’s jaw. Dani looking wobbly as she backs away and tries to get her jab going. Kat constantly on the move, striking at Dani and keeping her confused. Kat then able to get some nice right and left uppercuts into DC’s chin making her head bob, Dani clinching to buy herself some time. Referee moves in to break them up. Kat gets some extra shots into Dani’s stomach while they are in tight. Dani now backing away as Kat advances. Her jab is finally hardening, but Kat doesn’t press forward, content to roam the perimeter and jolt Dani with quick in and out punching. DC breathing hard and looking flustered at the bell. Kat walking away knowing she;s won this round wide.
R2: Kat right back at Dani, but this time she’s making more of an effort to fight her way in close. DC’s more effective jab is slowing up Kat’s advance, but Kat then starts circling looking to draw Dani off balance. Danielle quick to realize Kat’s getting tricky and doesn’t bite on her feints for long. So Kat goes up the middle. She works the breast line just to shake DC up and then puts some serious leather into Dani’s ribcage and stomach. Dani countering with intensity as her punch rate rises and she starts giving Kat a taste of vengeful jugg mugging before getting some surprise quick ones into Kat’s chin. Kat feeling the counterattack now bangs Dani hard to the sides of the head. Dani falls back looking shaky again, but she keeps her jab going to keep Kat from following up. Kat then works the abs to the bell and pulls out a close round.
R3: Puncher trainer Nia Peeples seen telling her fighter she’s got to take the offensive and Dani nodding. Danielle then makes a great effort to gt out of corner with speed and plow into Kat, her arms moving like piston rods to pound Kat to the body. Kat seems surprised at Dani’s determined punching, but she fights back with her own jab. DC getting hit hard to the face, but she bangs Kat right back with shots to mouth, nose and cheekbones. Back and forth they go, but DC moving her upper body more effectively to make a poorer target while she lumping up Kat’s face with steady punching. Kat stepping back and then trying to surprise DC by shifting to the belly, but Dani quickly circling while flinging overhand rights to Kat’s head. Kat trying to drive in close with pounding attack to breast and ribs, but DC fights back with hooks to Kat’s belly and then rocks her with an right uppercut in behind the gloves as the bell sounds. Kat looking very wobbly though she makes it to her corner where she collapses onto her stool. DC looking pleased for the first time tonight.
R4: Dani attack to the belly as this round gets going. Kat seems sluggish is slow to react as DC’s punches tip her forward. Danielle then working over Kat’s overhanging breasts which certainly gets Kats attention. Kat goes after Dani’s breasts. DC grunting from the impacts, but she spots an opening and throws an overhand right into the bridge of Kat’s nose. Kat’s head jerked back and her gloves sag, Danielle then rips a right and then a left uppercut into Kat’s underguarded chin. DOWN GOES KAT GRAHAM! Kat thrown onto her back lies there, knees bent, arms at her sides and looking up foggily at the overhead lights. Danielle quick to the neutral corner as the referee moves in. Kat struggling to rise. She manages to roll over and get to all fours, but when she tries to rise, her knees give out and she is dropped to all fours. She tries again, but topples onto her side and then rolls onto her back, one arm over her eyes to shut out the overhead lights as she knows this wasn’t her night.
“NINE!....TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”
THE WINNER: DANIELLE CAMPBELL DEFEATS KAT GRAHAM KO4.
After: Danielle eager to talk to the press: “I knew I could do it! I don’t say it was easy, but I just knew I could beat fighters like Kat Graham! I may not being going for a title shot soon, but I am on my way! Just you watch and see. 2018 is going to the be ‘The Year of DC Campbell!’.”
Kat Graham defiant: “I was grinding her down. I underestimated how well she could take punishment and so she surprised me with that counterattack. I admit she rang my bell in theThird and it was still ringing when she got me in the Fourth. I am frustrated I let her get away with beating me. I can promise you that it’ll be different next time!”
Danielle Campbell had some early trouble, but she came back and knocked Kat Graham out. It was certainly a solid win for the rising PLP hopeful, but tough-minded flyweight observers are going to have to see more before they are convinced she’s the future contender she wants to be. Kat Graham has to b disappointed. She needed a win to prove she can make it as a free agent and now she’ll have to look for that win elsewhere. Still, it was a lively contest and flyweight fans can now mull over the possibilities as they look to the new year.
