TESS VALMORE
Once again, I present this month’s edition of my much ridiculed predictions for the upcoming PPV. As usual, it is littered with cheap shots, unjustified criticism and unflattering comments, In the last round of PPVs I went 28-8 running my total to 1120-308 or a 78% correct ratio
HILL/GARNER Here we go with another of those mother/daughter fights. Hill is 21. Garner is 45. It’s entirely possible Garner could be her grandmother. Hill is 5’10 1/2 inches tall. Garner is 5’8” Hill has had three fights and won them all, however the combined number of wins by her opponents is zero. Garner has had two fights this year and won both. They were, however, with opponents who were her age or older. Management has put Garner is an very poor situation. If she loses, it will be humiliating for Garner as she loses to a nobody who has never beaten anyone who has won a fight. I am just going to take a chance that Garner can pull it out. Garner by a KO and hopes she calls her career at an end
L. COLLINS/LAVIGNE What happed to the smart girl at Front Street? Lavigne has suddenly developed a bad case of big mouth. Avril, honey, you may think that it makes you seem tough to belittle your opponents with crude and uncomplimentary names and drop the F-bomb as much as possible. Well I got news for you. It doesn’t make you tough. It makes you seem stupid. You have just put a target on your back for every flyweight in the Association. Miss Collins should clean your clock. Hopefully that should pound some sense in that seemingly empty space between your ears Collins by a KO
KRSMANOVIC/SHARAPOVA I don’t know anything about tennis other than you hold the stick end of the racket, I do, by some miracle, know who Sharapova is, I see that she has won some fights, but I think almost all her opponents have been tennis players. The only thing I think she has going for her is that she is 6’2’. That won’t be enough. Krsmanovic by a KO
K.BELL/McCURDY Bell seems to be a forgotten fighter. She has had one lone fight in nearly two years. She is a three time champion, but has lost three of her last five. Not to outdone, McCurdy has lost four of her last five. McCurdy is a lot younger and bigger. Bell has the experience on her side. I am going with experience to overcome inactivity. Bell will win
UPTON/REGAN I realize that the championship matches occur at the end of the card, but his bout could well be the closer of this card. For some reason, Regan after going 9-2 in the two previous years has had only one fight this year and that was ten months ago. In contrast, Upton has had eight conventional bouts this year winning six. Upton is ten years younger and bigger. This should be a great fight. Upton by a KO
S.MILLER/HUDGENS Surprisingly these two have never fought before. Miller is 1-2 on the year, but her losses were to Portman and Megan Fox. Hudgens is 6-3 for the year. Hudgens is younger however, Miller has a three inch height advantage. Miller has held the title twice and Hudgens three times. I think this is 50/50. I take a chance on Hudgens as I don’t think height disadvantage has bothered her to much in the past.
E. HENSTRIDGE/MEESTER Not much difference in height or age. Henstridge is on a eight fight win streak while Meester has won five her of last seven. This should be a good bout. I think Henstridge will win
LOVATO.FREGE Do I really have to suggest who is going to win this fight. I don’t know why her manager continues to put her in the ring. This is almost as bad as the Miss Ginny/Theron situation. I think a better fight would be Frege/Grande with the loser leaving the FCBA. Of course someone is going to lose this fight and it won’t be Lovato. Lovato by a KO
VANCAMP/LARSON Larson has had a good beginning. She has had three fights winning all of them. I don’t think, however she is ready to face a fighter like VanCamp, who is a three time champion. In fact, this will be VanCamps first fights since losing the title in September. I don’t think she is going to be in the mood to fool around. VanCamp will win by a KO mid fight
PEREGRYM/LAWRENCE Lawrence is the only remaining credible fighter in what is arguably the most dismal stable in the FCBA. Lawrence is 1-2 for the year, but one of her losses was to Righetti who is a welter. Missy is one of my favorites. She is 3-3 for the year with her losses coming to top fighters, one of whom was Lawrence. I would like to see Peregrym win this fight but I have a feeling it is going to go Lawrence’s way. Lawrence will win
STRAHOVSKI/AZALEA Yvonne is another of my favorites. She is now on a three fight losing streak with all losses coming at the hands of top ten members. Azalea has won seven of ten. She is bigger and younger that Yvonne. No matter. Yvonne rules Australia as Azalea going to find out the hard way. Strahovski by a KO
G.ATKINSON/LAW Law is returning to action more frequently now. This will be her fourth bout of the year and she is 2-1. Atkinson is 3-2 with wins over both Upton and Regan. The two have fought once before with Atkinson winning by a KO. In her last fight she lost to Michelle Ryan who is the fighter that Law has beaten twice this year. I go with Law to get revenge. winning by a KO
KEEGAN/MONET Monet needs management. She probably wouldn’t get herself in this situation. She has won a fight, but she is in with Keegan. This is not going to be a pleasant experience for Monet and just might convince her that boxing is not for her. Keegan by a KO fairly early
C.COLE/CYRUS Cyrus has lost three of four this year. Cole has won six straight and is Boxing Worlds fourth rated flyweight. Someone will break Cole’s streak, but it won’t be Cyrus. Cole by a KO
LOWNDES/STONE Lowndes, Mr V’s favorite, is having a off year so far losing 2 of three but to top flyweights. I don’t think she is going to have a lot of trouble with Stone and will pull even for the year. Lowndes wins by a TKO
MENDES/WINNICK Two women already getting membership applications from the AARP. I know Winnick won her first fight and Mendes won both of her fights this year, the last one being over that spectacular pugilist Frege. I have to go with experience. Mendes will win
DECKER/CORNISH Who thought this one up? Cornish has lost eight of her last nine over a period of six years. Have the ambulance ready. Cornish is going to need it. Decker by a KO
STEINFELD/BENOIST There are fighters I just can’t get excited about. These are two of them. Let’s make this quick. Benoist has been successful. Steinfeld hasn’t. The trend continues. Benoist will win
SWAN/WINSTEAD. Both are ranked in the top ten by Boxing World and Tractorpull with Winstead being the higher ranked. She is kind of like a bad penny. She just won’t go way. On top of that, she can ruin your day. I think that is what is going to happen to Serinda who happens to be a friend of mine. Winstead will win and become one of the top choices for a title fight
S.MITCHELL/KOSARIN Kosarin is getting a lot of attention, particularly after her win over her wins over Lively and then Minka Kelly in the last PPV. She previously caught the attention of Mitchell after the way she treated Benoist after her win in the September PPV. Mitchell is going to be a tough test for Kosarin. Too tough. Mitchell wins
D.CAMPBELL/K.GRAHAM Graham has lost the matchmaking expertise of the Wiz since being released by Front Street. She’s on her own now. She has now gotten Campbell as an opponent. This was probably not a good choice for her. I think Campbell is going to win with a KO in the latter rounds
SCODELARIO/DANES Scodelario is one of the better bantams coming over from the BBU. She has won nine of her last ten with her only loss being in a title fight. She is bigger and 13 years younger than Danes. Danes has had only one fight this year, a title fight, which she lost. I’m a big fan of Danes, but I fear she is slowing down (it’s an age thing). Scodelario will win
M.RYAN/NOLIN No use in dragging this out. Everyone knows I don’t like Nolin and hope she loses every fight. Ryan should be advised to wear a crotch protector as Nolin in the dirtiest fighter in FCBA history. Ryan will win (I hope)
J.RYAN/PATTON Ryan is a 49 year old member of the dismal Academy stable. She was, in her youth, a hardest hitting lightweight around, but that was then. She has lost four of her last five. Patton is a journey woman who hangs around the top ten because of lack of depth in the welters. She has lost two of three this year, but to Righetti and Rhoda. Patton can certainly win this bout and I hope she does, however, I have to predict Ryan as the winner
RHODA/FREEMEN Rhoda is 8-2 for the year after losing her welter title in last month’s PPV. Freeman 2-1 after beating M. Ryan in September. Rhoda is younger, but more importantly is three inches taller. Here is another case of the fighter I would like to see win, isn’t going to. Rhoda by a KO
M. FOX/E. WATSON Fox is now on thirteen fight win streak. Watson has only won eleven bouts in her life. Fox dips down to Boxing Worlds number 23 for this fight. Probably the only reason Watson was chosen is that she beat Fox last year. Lightning isn’t going to strike twice. Fox will win
MICHALKA/BENNET Bennet is on a eight fight win streak after defending her title in last month’s PPV. Boxing World has MIchalka ranked at twelve in the bantams. Michalka has won five of her last seven with her losses coming from Danes and Shay Mitchell. She is over two inches taller than Bennet. I hate to do it but I am going to have to predict Michalka to be the new champion
ATWELL/JENNER Attwell fights mainly at JMDD, She has had only two conventional fights and she lost one of those to a bantam. You have to wonder how she got handed a title shot. Let’s hope Jenner retains the title. The lightweights will be the laughing stock of the FCBA is Attwell wins. Jenner by a KO
FERGUSON/KLOSS This will be Ferguson’s eleventh conventional fight of the year. She has won nine. Kloss is have a little more trouble this year than she has in past. She is 4-4 for the year. Kloss can certainly win this bout but I just don’t think she will. Ferguson will retain the title
