For some time now Archer News reporter Skip Tracey had been trying to track down a rumored bantamweight debut fight and now, at last, he had confirmed it. Outside the FCBA Front office he was able to speak with Bailee Madison.
"Yes, Mr. Tracey, I can finally confirm I'm going to making my FCBA debut," Bailee told him, smilking happily. "And it will be against THE GIFTED's Natalie Alyn Lind. She looks tough, does she? But that's what I wanted: someone who would be a challenge and who, if I beat her, would give my instant credibility."
"You getting any help from Foxfire Boxing? I know you worked the last two summers there as their office intern," Skip inquired.
"Well, Jennifer Garner says she can't offer me a contract or anything like that because they have a pretty full roster, but she was willing to let me use their training center and Dani Fishel has volunteered to help train me. You know, she was 18 when she started, so she knows what I'll be going through. I just hope I can do a good job. I would hate to disappoint them."
"I'm sure you won't," Skip said politely, then asked: "Do you have a date for the fight?"
"Not a definite one but I expect it will be soon. It will be a Celebrity Boxing After Dark and I want to be ready when it comes." If you'll excvuse me I do need to get over to Foxfire and see Dani."
"Good luck to you," Skip said as the young woman hurried away.
"So that's 'Good Witch' Bailee Madison--she looks soft to me--punching her should be easy" a voice came from behind Skip. He turned and there should Natalie Alyn Lind.
"Technically 'The Good Witch' on that show is Catherine Bell," Skip said. "And you are Natalie Alyn Lind?"
"'The Gifted One' I prefer to think," Natalie said. "I am glad I ran into you, Mr. Tracey. Unlike Bailee Madison, I am on my own, but I do have my very own trainer and my very own rented gym space. I wish I had an outfit like Foxfire backing me up, but I can do it on my own. I know I am good and I will prove that when I beat her."
"You're 18 too. You really think you have a training advantage on Bailee Madison?" Skip asked.
"Yes, because I didn't have to listen to people like Jennifer Garner telling me I was too young to do serious training. I won't say when I started, but I am sure it was before she did. You'll all see it when we actually get into the ring," Natalie said with a sly smile.
"There is no reason to rush into boxing just because your 18," Skip pointed out.
"There is if you feel the need to do it. That may be the only thing Bailee Madison and I have in common. We both want this, but I am the one who will show is the one who is ready to win and will win. Now if you will excuse me, I have a date in the Front Office papers," Natalie said.
"Good luck to you," Skip said and watched as the blonde actress strolled into the FCBA Building.
There never seemed to be a shortage of young women eager to fight in the FCBA, but Skip knew that not many of them would be able to build a serious career. He wonder what the future would have in store for Bailee Madison and Natalie Alyn Lind....
