Our reporter and his blonde companion enter Front Street to find the normal trio in their normal Sunday morning spots. Rufus, Avril, and the Man In The Hat sit on stools in front of the center ring waiting for the ladies to return from road work.
Rufus: "There's Tess Valmore! Her motto is, we do HALF the job for full price!"
Reporter: "To be fair, it was more than HALF the job, but not the WHOLE job..."
Tess: "Har. Har. Har."
Man In The Hat: "Now, leave Tess alone. I kinda got confused myself last month. I'm sittin' there thinkin'...'hey, Cassandra Lynn ain't fought yet...this can't be OVER...' New formats can be tricky. But. Tess took responsibility and fixed the problem. Now, it's time to move on. So, let's do that."
Tess: "Thanks, Wiz."
Man In The Hat (shrugging): "Like I said, did the same thing myself last month."
Avril: "And, if he'd have walked out of the arena BEFORE Cassie fought. Let's just say he wouldn't be hearing the end of it any time soon."
Tess: "On ANOTHER subject, what did you think of the pay-per-view?"
Reporter: "Yeah. And, where WERE you after the fights Friday? No presser?"
Man In The Hat: "Friday, son, was the beginning of the high school football season in the great state of Pennsylvania. And, every year, Old Wiz drives over the mountains to Western Pennsylvania, where guys like Marino, Montana, and Namath played their college ball, to watch a game on the opening weekend. I'll try to catch some more games this year, too, but, with the Buckeyes beginning their season next week, it won't be easy. That's why I always head off for opening weekend. Left right after the matches. Saw a great game. Got back this morning. As for the pay-per-view, great stuff on there. I'm glad to see the Hyland kid having some success. Always liked her. She gets regular work, she can go somewhere. Hanratty, too. She's got herself on a little roll now, and that's nice to see. Cook's back and in form. I can remember us gettin' ROASTED in some quarters for fighting her. I told everyone she was a good fighter then, and she still is. I'm glad Watson's getting work again. Came close to signing her a couple of times. She has potential. Hayd and Shahi. That was a heck of a fight..."
Reporter: "Hayden's back on track..."
Man In The Hat (laughing): "What did you EXPECT? You think HAYDEN FREAKIN' PANETTIERE was gonna fall apart? Not. Going. To. Happen. Speaking of back, Mishy's got the Iron Fist thing goin' again. She's just hell on the younger flys. And, she enjoys it. Bush is a girl worth watchin' these days. She's on a roll..."
Reporter: "The rankings are coming out this week. And, they're going to reflect that."
Man In The Hat: "Lovato, I told you, was a good move for Lookout! This kid is bantam strong. She's got a chance to wear the belts. The Thrilla. I love that kid. It's gonna come together for her, I suspect. Cassidy may be a contender right now. And Scodelario...I'm starting to like what I see from her. Shay Mitchell may be making a push. All the talent she needs is in there. I can't BELIEVE Olsen is in the streets..."
Tess: "I've got to admit, Ginny releasing her was a surprise. If you had a roster spot..."
Man In The Hat (nodding): "Right now. Olsen and/or Dobrev, who looked just great. Right now. But. We don't, and I don't expect we will any time soon. At least, I hope not. EVC's gettin' back in the bantam title picture. Thought, it looks like Danes has it booked out to November. But, still, Emily's gonna be there when the dust settles. I like the Krsmanovic kid. She's got good stuff. Palicki. Man. I don't think there's a better light anywhere except maybe Jesse. Peregrym and Cuoco was one of the matches of the night. Nobody in the division Missy can't beat. Vonnie's back on track. No surprise there. Upton looked great as usual. And Kloss and Gigi Hadid sure blew up the welter Top Ten..."
Reporter: "Hadid's a light. But, Kloss might have put herself in the welter title picture.
Man In The Hat: "Well, that's not a subject for me to address. We ain't in it, and we're not gonna BE in it any time soon..."
Reporter: "Even if Kesha beats Rihanna?"
Man In The Hat: "Even then. But, before we get on that subject, Coleman's on a career run, isn't she? I suspect she may be getting a flyweight shot at some point, if she's not too distracted with JMD..."
Tess: "How about your girl?"
Avril: "I was WONDERING if he was going to GET to that..."
Man In The Hat: "Katy was fantastic, as usual. Winstead's tough. And she's been tough on Front Street. She was 4-0 against us until Friday night. And, that included a win over Perry. Katy was loaded for bear, though. She wanted another shot at Mary Elizabeth. She got it. And, she made no mistake. And, that puts her right square in the lightweight title picture..."
Tess: "Assuming Ms. Ginny doesn't decided to defend against the 162nd-ranked fighter again..."
Reporter: "And Wiz took Mr. V to task for defending against Alexander..."
Man In The Hat: "While he beat ME up for Helfer. To be fair to Blake, however, her first two defenses WERE Peregrym and Brook and you can't argue with those. Still, I just don't get why a Biel fight doesn't get made here. But, what do I know..."
Reporter: "Speaking of the lightweight title picture, you've said you aren't in the picture at bantam, which is booked out, welter, with no Top Ten welter, and fly, because Cassie has the belt. But. It looks like you have more than one option for light..."
Man In The Hat: "We do. Torv is Top Ten comin' off the Palicki win. Gemma is Top Ten coming off Yustman, and now there's Katy, who's Top Ten coming off Winstead. And, again, the dark horse, 'Six Feet of Sexy', if she beats Rihanna. We are taking AIM at that title from multiple angles. Now. Get to church. Baseball at Bazz today and Pointy has the grills and smokers goin'..."
Tess: "I can't WAIT."
